I've got to think it's the Ruger SR-9 and SR-40's. I got my son an SR-40 delivered to the FFL for $329 brand new. A $20 Ghost trigger connector and it has a great trigger. I carry and SR-9 and I've put 5,000+ rounds down the pipe with no issues...and with that trigger connector installed it has by far the very best reset of any trigger I have.
So for right now you can get new SR-9's for around $300 to $330 (right now on Gunbroker there's one for $290 buy it now plus shipping). I really like they thought ahead and rounded the edges just for concealed carry so there is no snag and that they are so thin and light. Not exactly full-sized but not compact either..unless you buy a compact model.
We maligned the heck out of them back when because of the trigger but the base product, I thought, was very good. Then Ghost came out with that trigger connector and the SR-9 became my favorite carry gun.
It seems they have been discontinued so now's the time to pounce on one for a deal. Just my 2 cents.

I have a SR9c which has become my EDC, It's completely stock, I did black out the rear sight white dots because I prefer to focus on the front sight and not have to worry if I have them aligned correctly. It's a great shooting pistol and I hardly know it's there when it's in an OWB holster.
