I have seen another video where Larry Vickers takes on out and shows how it functions. According to that video, he also assisted with the design of the rifle.

A few people I know who own a few gun shops, say that HK isn't particularly fond of selling their products into the civilian market, but the American market is too large to ignore. I often wondered why they haven't introduced a semi-auto version of it for sale in the States. But if reliability is an issue, that could go a long way to explaining it too.

With rifle technology, sometimes two steps fwd. is two steps back.

Go with what works.

The tolerances were evidently made "loose" allowing the round to chamber, bolt to cycle, and firing pin to strike the bullet.

AK's have such, for lack of a better word "slop", but H&K put it into a fine not Obama approved platform.

Bury in sand,...tough test...

It seems interesting enough. My only experience with H&K is the MP5. It's a fun little gun.

Yes they covered it in mud and sand but i can do the same as long as the barrel is free. No crap is going to get into it the way it was tested. The barrel was free and the water test give me a break. Ive seen tests and these are one sided H&K friendly.

With all the other bad stuff I've always heard of H&K why does none of this surprise me? ::)

The civilian models are supposed to be out soon. They are the MR223 and MR762.

One of the videos featuring Larry Vickers discussing the HK416 is the Military Channel's Weaponology featuring the Green Berets. That was a great episode.

I will say they look nice!  If H&K follows suit I'm guessing an MSRP of about $3,200 or more!

Plenty of other gas piston alternatives.
