Title: Celebrity Shootout?
Post by: THE CORONER on March 07, 2009, 02:07:52 PM
Micheal,

It would be cool to watch you and pro-gun celebs throwin' some lead downrange together.  Maybe you could call the spot "Celebrity Shooter Showcase" or something catchy like that.  Segments about what made them famous and how they feel about gun-related issues we all deal with today?  Favorite roles they played and why.  Their favorite firearms and end the segment with some target plinking?  Whatcha think?  It would be a hoot seeing you and Uncle Ted shootin at the range together.  Maybe some cinema cowboys like Clint Eastwood and Robert Duvall, the Carradine Brothers from the History Channel, others like Micheal Gross "Tremors", and Brad Johnson "Flight of the Intruder", ect...

I think it would be great for the ratings!  When I found out that the late great Dale Earnhart was a guest on any hunting show, I wanted to watch.  I think others probably feel the same way.  It lets us see another side of our favorite celebs outside of their acting careers.  Doing what all of us love to do...enjoy our firearms.  Hell, even Glenn Beck is an NRA member!  He's got a big audience to educate.  Also, it would be fun to see you interacting with them.

Maybe some of our other forum members have ideas of their own favorite personalities from tv and movies?

p.s.
Just tell your producers it was your idea!  You can just send me a check in the mail!  LOL!!!  Take care, best wishes, and congratulations to both you and Marshall on your show's success.

Shame on you for not including Tom Selleck, who is both a strong 2A guy, and a true gentleman.

Herding cats is easy, as long as you are not to fussy about them all going in the same direction at the same time.  ;D

Keep rollin', rollin', rollin',
Though the streams are swollen,
Keep them kitties rollin', rawhide.
Through rain and wind and weather,
Hell bent for leather,
Wishin' my gal was by my side.
All the things I'm missin',
Good vittles, love, and kissin',
Are waiting at the end of my ride

That would be a great idea for MB...have a celebrity shoot out. He could have two celebrities who may or may not be familiar with guns (try to match them up a little) and run them through a shooting challenge. It would be good publicity for shooting.

Mr. Killjoy here has to get us back on topic  >:(  I was enjoying the mental image of George Clooney, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon , and Rosie O'Donut dodging and weaving.  ;D

If you are using Rosie O'lardass for a target, you better set her out at the 100 yd line to make it a bit of a challenge. Any closer and it would be like shooting at the side of the barn.

Me saying this is like the pot callin' the kettle black (size-wise), but we could paste a picture of Clooney on one ass cheek, and Alec Baldwin on the other and fire away.

Tom, you and I think alike at times. I was going to mention Susan Sarandon and you beat me to it.

I'd suggest Susan also with Jane Fonda.

Don't forget Sean Penncildick.  His face could be dangling in between.  It could alternate with Timmy Robbins's -- hit one and the other drops down.

Thanks  Jaybet, that's kinda what I was thinking about it all along.  It would be good to see some of our favorite, or not so favorite celebs, plinking some targets for a charity or something?  And yes, I've always thought Mr. Bane would be the best host for it!

I think it says a lot about the "normalization" of guns in society that Hollywood-types aren't afraid to be seen shooting guns on a show about guns.  Could you even imagine seeing this 5 or 10 years ago?

I noticed yesterday that Joe Montegna is now one of the producers of Shooting Gallery.  Is there any way we can ask him to join DRTV, just so we can thank him personally?

Kid Rock
Milla Jovovich
Kate Beckinsale
Chris Pine
Zoe Saldana

One of the reasons I stopped watching SG is the B-lister shooting segment.
i just didn't care to watch non-shooters do non shooter shooting.

Was less than yawn for me.

Sorry to hear you quit watching RTFM!  However, I enjoy watching a mix, and I am a person that would like to see the coverage expanded to competitions with more "guy on the street" shooting events (the exact opposite of what you appear to want).  Not like the celebrity shootout, but coverage of the average range, club and match.  That is the conflict Michael has faced, and you are complaining about a show that leans your way not mine.

We all need to decide what we want to watch, and if we want to play nice in the sandbox.  Sorry you're not watching anymore, but I'd rather put up with what I do get than give up the exposure all together.

I'm not bashing here.....It's your opinion......and that's fine, everyone here is entitled to theirs...... I won't try to convince you to watch or anything else, but I would offer this:

It seems to me that any time you can get a "non-shooter" or "maybe-sometimes-shooter" to SHOOT, and especially in Hollyweird....AND on TV....it is a big + for all shooters. Sometimes you have to fight the "fight" in a more subtle manner.

If there are particular segments that don't appeal to me, I just FF the DVR or make a popcorn run to the microwave.

JMHO, FWIW.

Good point - and I hope it brings in more shooters or at least peaks their interest in finding out more about our sport.
I just don't want to spend what little time I do get for my self watching what use to be a very enjoyable show - now watching Aunt Bea get flustered by the electronic timer

It does not make for good or informative broadcasting for me.
I move on.
