Title: Ultimate clip / mag definition
Post by: tombogan03884 on May 23, 2017, 02:12:21 PM
A magazine contains a spring and a follower to push bullets into feed position, a clip contains bullets and nothing else.

I guess I was in the education business too long... as long as the idea was conveyed, I never gave a rat's behind about whether someone called it a clip or magazine (they most likely weren't carrying an M1 Garand anyway)... same with bullet for cartridge.. YMMV

I've always said "a magazine is an ammunition feeding device" and "a Clip is an ammunition storage device" ;) ;)

CLIP is what you do to coupons.

Coupons are in MAGAZINES.

I don't see what you're arguing about!

Bullets, not necessarily assembled cartridges.

One of the worst uses of bullet vs. cartridge that I heard was a reporter stating that "a bullet had gone off in  a persons luggage."  No, it wasn't an exploding bullet but that's what it came out as with their sloppy language.

That one use balls and powder instead of cartridges but it's one in a billion that most people have never heard of. The other 99.9999999999% that people actually know about use cartridges. You split that hair mighty fine my brother.   ;)

Ha, you funny!  ;D  ;D  ;D

I don't think the next'un will be drawn along the same physical lines.....even if it might be for several of the same reasons, (maybe not all, but several). I expect it will be rural vs urban.

And that dumbass Custer won't be running any units from my Michigan homeland!

The war of Northern aggression is over boys!  The next one will be drawn over different lines!

Read Raphael Semmes book about the CSS Alabama .
The first 100 pages he spends on causes of the war, mostly taxation of the prosperous South being used to finance the struggling North, slavery was just a minor symptom of the argument over States Rights.
The war of the 10th Amendment .

Don't bad mouth Custer, he was a lot better cavalry commander than he gets credit for.

"a cavalryman with Custer"  by JH Kidd is free on internet archive.

That's what I am thinking.  Pretty much the urban folk versus the rural folk.  The suburbs should fall turn to the rural way of thinking in short order.  Not something any of us want to see but the urban folks are dependent upon centralized power, water, sewer and someone bringing their food to them.  With the exception of sewer that leaves them fairly vulnerable however I doubt more than 1 out of 10 have enough sense to bury their droppings in the park....

Yea, an 1860's version of John McCain!

Last in his class, good military career, then "what have you done lately?"

At least McCain didn't get any of his family killed!

;)

What have you done lately ?
How about finding gold in the Black Hills, being trusted with the security of various high profile high risk hunting parties, and pioneering successful indian fighting tactics.
As for getting his brother Tom killed, I'll just point out that he was not widely mourned .
