Michael mentioned Firearm Trusts on a recent show (or did I just dream about it? Scary, dreaming about Bane).
So I'm giving serious consideration to a Huntertown .22 suppressor. We have a local dealer, and believe it or not, they not only has the suppressors in stock but has several Ruger 22/45s with threaded barrels.
Did some research on Firearm Trusts and have decided it is the way to go, especially with any NFA items. Not only that but when someone asks if I own any firearms, I can honestly say, "No." It all seems to, "easy". You create a paper document that you sign and agree to the condition there-in. Make a copy of the document (not even file it with the state in most cases) and send the document with $200 and the NFA application. Bypass all the finger prints, background checks and CLEO sign-off. Granted when the BATF comes knocking that paper work better be in order and properly filled out and complied with.
Anyone done this already? Thoughts? Should I use one of the on-line sites? A local attorney? California, Texas and Florida seem to be the hot-bed of on-line sites. Several in those states indicate they can prepare one that is good for GA.

DUH: I usually just go straight to "unread posts" and don't often go to the actually list of forums. DUH!
I not only should have looked in there but read some of the older stuff.
In my defense I did do a search on "trusts" and didn't see anything relevant first page or two.
DOUBLE TRIPPLE DUH: Holy forgetfulness, Batman. I totally blanked. There were some threads about this already in NFA. Specifically Mauler's, to whom I've send a pm.

Alf's comment about not owning any firearms generated a question: could a Trust be used to buy regular guns? If so, would a NICS/State Background check still be required?

A regular gun is bought in the same manner as always, but you can write in the make, model and serial number in your trust so it would be managed as part of the trust should you die.
