Title: Gun Porn - I got my G21 back from Boresight Solutions
Post by: bafsu92 on August 20, 2010, 09:42:30 AM
If you're looking for any kind of frame work for your Glocks or other tactical tupperware (S&W, XD's etc) do yourself a favor and call Ben at Boresight Solutions in Miami. I've had or handled work from at least 5 other "custom shops" that do frame reductions and stippling and nobody else I've seen come close. He does it to your specs, not a one size fits all job. I wanted a little bit of the finger grooves left on but opened way up for my larger hands and fingers. I also wanted the backstrap somewhere between a 1911 and the factory Glock. Similar to a 1911 with an arched mainspring housing. I was practicing draws from open and concealment the last couple of days and it just hits the perfect spot in my hand everytime now. I've always loved the G20/21 but sometimes it seemed to roll in my hand a bit. This seems to have completely solved that. While Ben had the frame I sent the slide and barrel off to MagnaPort to have their auto-porting done. I'll be getting some extensive range time this afternoon.

Well I just got in from the range and it was everything I expected and more. I put a couple hundred rounds through and have to say it was great. The felt recoil was less than my Glock 19. With the XS Big dot the front sight never even left the 10 ring. I wasn't really sure if the MagnaPorting would really make a difference but that combined with a grip that doesn't move in your hand is unreal. I shot three different nine's to get an idea of the recoil and the felt recoil was less than the 2 polymer frames (G19 and FNP-9) and right about the same as my Sig 226. I figure while I'm on the subject of gun porn I might as well post some pics of the above mentioned nines. I don't have any pics of the G19 but everyone knows what they look like anyway. I'll show the other two. BTW I forgot to list the link to Boresight Solutions: http://www.boresightsolutions.com/ (http://www.boresightsolutions.com/) Check out Ben's work, you won't find any better.

My Sig P226, a totally reworked old West German pistol with a full TJ's action job among other things.

Heard some very good things about Boresight, in Miami, might have to take a drive down there and check it out. ::)

I have a "stock" G21, and large hands, but I wouldn't mind it "slimmed down a hair"., and the finger grooves reduced.

Nice job and pics. Thanks for the heads up and good review.

I have come across quite a few frame jobs over the last few years and Ben's work is by far the best. I took a tactical pistol class about a year ago and one of the guys there had 2 modified pistols one done by Ben and another done by a pretty big, well known company. I was blown away by how much better Ben's work was. Not only that but it was over $80 cheaper than the other job. I really like the fact that he did it the way I wanted. I like having the finger grooves for the tactile repetition but I needed them opened up quite a bit for my thick fingers. Most places want to just remove the grips or stipple them as is. Same with the backstrap. I wanted it a specific way and it was no problem.

Really nice work on the Glock. Wow.
I've got 3 other Glocks and as time and my budget allows they will all make their way to Ben. Be prepared to be without your pistol for 3 months give or take a couple weeks but it is well worth it.

I almost bought one of those Digital Desert Camo Glock 21's my local shop got in last year. They haven't gotten in anymore of them since. What held me back is the fact paint on guns is simply not practical, unless you are going to keep it as a safe queen. With any kind of use, this is what a painted firearm will like like in a very short while.  Bill T.

I've never seen a digi-camo painted Glock. Was it some special edition or distributors special? I agree with paint on guns, you pretty much always need to re-paint. I've got a rifle I re-paint every hunting season. I have had good luck with Cerakote though. My Sig above is holding up real well. I got the grips for it direct from Sig and they're holding up well too.

I believe so. I'm really kicking myself for not getting one. If for no other reason than the sheer uniqueness of it. They looked really nice. But as I said, I doubt they would hold up well. Paint is paint. Good for cars and houses, lousy on guns.   Bill T.

The frame work from Boresight Solutions was a little over $200. It all depends on how you want it done. I paid extra to have the triggerguard rounded and there are other options you can choose or not choose. It's all pretty ala cart. Check out his website you can see a full price list: http://www.boresightsolutions.com (http://www.boresightsolutions.com)
The Magnaporting was around $150 I don't remember the exact amount. Their turnaround was less than 2 weeks.
