Hi
Nice forum, Thanks for having me!

Hello from East Tennessee. Very nice site and video instruction. Well done. Look forward to reading the posts .
Hey guys! I'm Jeff from Ohio.
what is the state - the real state - of 2A, firearms ownership and CCW in OH these days? Specifically in and around Columbus.
PRO (Peoples Rights Organization), still host a large gun show in the Columbus area. It's in the old J.C.Penney bldg at Westlands Mall
Greetings from California. Yes! California!! I'm here to let the world know that not everyone from my state bases their political opinions on the fusion of Oprahspeak and marijuana. I heard about this site on the Downrange TV podcast and look forward to hearing all the opinions and goings-on in the gun community. Thanks Michael Bane for providing an outstanding podcast in addition to this site which I plan to use to discuss guns and to vent my frustration at The Mob, otherwise known as society.

Thanks Michael Bane for providing an outstanding podcast in addition to this site which I plan to use to discuss guns and to vent my frustration at The Mob, otherwise known as society.California has nothing on NJ, PLUS our natural areas are small (YES we do have a sizeable number of parks, preserves, etc.- it's just that most of them are the size of a city park in most other states. A lot of it is farmland too - Duh!...the Garden State!...). Those of us who keep arms are considered "a little wierd", so it's really nice to communicate with folks who have more freedom in carry and use (you need to be a either a pro or retired officer to carry here too- anyone else it's nearly impossible to get a carry permit). It keeps us here from believing the "wierd" thing. Besides that, I think a lot more folks keep arms here but don't talk about it much.

Graduate student in communications, working on a thesis concerning firearms education and media accuracy. These days I'm a technical writer and editor, but in a former life I spent almost a decade as a newspaper (insert one of 100 job titles here). It's not much fun being one of three shooters in a newsroom of 120.
I like long walks on the beach, hot tubs, and the collected works of John M. Browning.
Love the Podcast, Michael. From what I've seen so far, I'm gonna enjoy the forum, too.

Hello from Oklahoma!...........................................
Hi im new here and im from Pittsburgh. im into Sigs and black rifles im sure ill be posting frequently forums get me into trouble because they give me to many ideas of new stuff to buy!.....................
Hazcat,
Thank you for the welcome. I'm not familiar with that double rifle. I'm sort of a beginner in doubles and lean more towards the antique rifles like something with Damascus barrels in .500 BPE. I suspect the process of regulating the barrels is one of the things that prevent most makers from bringing them to market at a reasonable price. Now Cabela's does have the Kodiak, an Italian made percussion double express rifle available in up to .72 cal for less than $1000.
Hello,
I'm glad to become a member of this forum. I have watched the videos with great interest. I enjoy .22 and .45 bulls eye shooting but after looking at this site I think I would like to partake in some of the other disciplines.

Rockcreek,
Is that Remmy rolling block one of their single shots? My son is looking at them and I wondered how well they shoot. He is thinking .270.
Thanks,
Hazcat
Yes Hazcat it is a single shot rifle, quite accurate and a joy to shoot. It's an original model 1867 Remington in 12.7x44mm cal. which is a Swede cartridge and equates somewhat to the 50-70. I think a new made Remington rolling block rifle in .270 caliber would be an ideal rifle and will have to add one for the wish list.
I'm new to this forum,
Just entered and looking around. We have snow above 6500 ft, almost time to stop shooting and start skiing!!...........................................
Welcome all!

Welcome Camacho. You will thoroghly enjoy this forum and site. :D
jj here. I can't get the TV show here on cable, so the next best thing is to listen to it here.
Greetings everyone, from a guy that has lived in Boulder since 1961. I'm a certified gun nut, and this looks to be a nice place to hang out.
I just bought my eighth SIG, and I bought myself an early Christmas present: a Les Baer Ultimate Varmint in 6.5 Grendel.
Have made a lot of mistakes.
Welcome!
I was curious which Sigs you have. I have only two, but I'm definitely a fan.
We love pictures here.
Howdy, Morgan Walker here from Fort Polk, LA. I am about to retire from 20 years of active duty Army and I have been actively shooting for several years now.
"... and big honking robots"
Megas XLR vs the Glorf!!
I saw the guys who made that show, and oh they are my people. The G-Force spoof was one of the funniest episodes I'd seen. Plus - Bruce Campbell as a MODOK. (Did I mention I was a nerd? :D)
Wish they'd bring it back my son (14 now ) and I (53) used to watch it together all the time. I have a framed poster of Megas on the wall. (Guess I kinda nerdy, too ;D)

Hello,Hi Mike! This is a very cool place!
My name is Mike and I live in VA Beach. I enjoy shooting the AR15, 1911, and S&W Revolvers. I heard about this site from Mark over at Gun Butter. He pointed me to Todd Jarretts 1000 round shoot and all I can say is WOW!
Great site, I look forward to sharing information with you all.

Hey John from NE Ohio. I'm from NEO also. D..n cold this weekend. Went to Medina GS. Nothing special but tons of people. Biggest show there I can remember and they started charging an extra $. Freeking inflation!!!! Good site, enjoy.
Hi all,
New to this group. I may not be a knowledgable as some of you but I'm willing to throw my 2 cents in from time to time. I enjoy shooting my Sig 220, Beretta 92FS, and my "kids" .22 Beretta NEOS.
I enjoy all the shows on the Outdoor Channel concerning firearms.
Keep up the all the good work you do!!!
Thanks for letting me in...
Jim

Jaybeth,
Com'on down to FL.. I know a little joint on the beach that makes the best Rum runners for a hot day sittin outside on the deck. Used to go there on the weekends to hear Chico play. Just him and his Fender. Did a great rendition of "Can't You See". I'd be sittin there with a Rum runner or a Red Stripe and a shot of Ouzo and a good cigar. Great times!
OH!
You said, "Reck-ROOM", .... whew ........ never mind :P ;D

Burt Gummer.....................................now that guy had one heck of a reckroom.
Awesome to have you man, now i have to go watch "Tremors".
tex
Thx Tex.
Burt is one of my favorites."What do you use cannon fuse for?"
Burt, "for my cannon!"
"I AM COMPLETELY OUT OF AMMO! This has never happened to me before."
I think my favorite quote comes form the 2nd Tremors. Burt gets caught in an ambush by the "Assblasters" and makes it out. After returning to base, pulls his twin Berettas, stating "I feel I have been neglected VALUABLE NEEEED TO KNOW INFORMATION!!!" Then giving details of small-arm fire then reverting to hand-to-hand and finally popping it into 6wheel drive running through 'em. Burt take a deep breath and reflects looking at his 92s................
;D My better half still doesn't get why that leave me in stitches. ;D

New member from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Love the site and downloaded all the podcasts and have been listening to them the last two days!! Thanks!Welcome. Howdy ladies and gents from central Florida, the land of wild hogs, gators, black bears and those over-grown cockroaches the locals here call "palmetto bugs" - good to meet ya!

COLLEGE rifle coach ! COOL, must be a private school.
;D That's the best. Thanks~
Now when Marshal throws the Norwegian stuff out I can counter act with Japanese. I'm sure I pronounce everything just perfect and sound truly authentic. ::) ::)

I just wanted to say Hi and thanks for running a great forum. I've been lurking for awhile and decided to join.
Also, I wanted to tell the folks at Shooting Gallery how much I enjoy the show. I look forward to it each week. My 6 year old daughter even lets me turn Hanna Montana off to watch Micheal Bane. She says he's almost as good. Maybe if he could sing. Thanks
Hi,
My name's Dave, and I live in the Communist state of Illinois. I've been reading the forum for some time now and thought it was time to participate. Love this forum and Downrange radio especially, have a Fla. CCW and compete in IDPA.
Hi Dave!
Glad to have you here. Sit back and enjoy. I'd love to say more, but I'm still in corner time.
Just one helpful hint ... Be careful in your choice of vocabulary when referring to the lovely young lady that oversees this rambunctious bunch.
Nop Clue!
I made a comment that could have been viewed as less than complimentary about that young, beautiful, patient, forgiving lady that keeps an eye on us.

Hi, I'm Brent from the Great Northwest(originally Tulsa) I just registered after having lurked around here for several months. It was actually gunman1911's last post that got me to finally register.
So, as to not distract from Mi-Nimrod's question, I would have to say that I have nothing but love for my XD .45 Compact. It works great with my relatively small hands. The compact grip is a bit small for my more stubby fingered friend, so he prefers to shoot it with the full capacity clips with the extensions. I would recommend feeling one of these to see if it works for your intended purpose.

Welcome to this great place to have great discussions with all. Glad you joined and you will not be sorry you did. By the way good call on the write up of the XD.

Welcome to both of you. I think - and hope - you will find this site as much fun as you find it informative, interesting, and on occasion aggravating.+1 Don't worry about paying the nickel at the ticket booth you in the car and the bar is down and your going for the ride ! Welcome and enjoy! ;D
It's a great site.
Welcome all. Nobody bites here...well except maybe Hazcat ;D
Good Morning; ;D
Was just introduced to this site, It looks like my kind of place. Thank you for setting it up. I have been a shooter all of my life. I have been involved in recreational shooting, military, Law Enforcement, gun building, International Small bore shooting and coaching. I hunt when I can what I can. Enjoy Mule deer, Elk, Pairie Dogs, Jack rabbits and Gophers, Chased a few rosters and busted my butt chasing Chuckers in the Snake River Canyons. My whole family shoots, One son is in the military and the other is a mechanical engineer that is working in the firearms industry. My wife is a shooter and shares our interest in all types of guns. She packs a .357 GP-100 for her comfort gun. We own the 5MM Craig business (5MM Remington Centerfire)conversion, reloading dies and case and a small machine shop that produces sight mounts for the M2HB machine gun. So we pretty well span the industry. ;D

Hello from Astoria Oregon. I'm active duty Coast Guard and just purchased a new Sig P229R DAK through a Coast Guard group purchase. Got the gun, 3 mags, a case, night sights and a gun lock for $695. I think I made out pretty good on it. Oh and it has the Coast Guard logo and semper paratus engraved on the slide.Hi Ron,

Hello to All from Le Roy, Michigan! You have my vote on that topic
I have loved guns for years, wish I could shoot more often. I Love the Smell Gun Oil in the Morninig! ;D
2 years ago I had a Spinal Cord Injury and am partially paralyzed from the waist down. I am interested in starting a topic or maybe just adding to the Handguns forum about concealed carry and defensive shooting and tatics for people with disablilitys. I know there are others out there that have limited mobility, so what do we do about "Shoot and Move".
Anyway just wanted to say HI! Thanks for Listening. ;D
You have my vote on that topic
I'm from Pensacola, Florida. I got my concealed carry permit last fall. I have a 357 that belonged to my grandfather, but I'm looking for a smaller gun for myself. That's how I found this site, just looking for tips and weapon reviews. DH says I should get a hammerless revolver, but I'd like a 9mm.

That's how I found this site, just looking for tips and weapon reviews. DH says I should get a hammerless revolver, but I'd like a 9mm.+1 on tomobogan's advice. Go to a range where you can rent pistols and try as many as you can. 9mm comes in a LOT of flavors, and if you're looking for a mini, try Springfield XD, CZ Rami, Glock 29, Taurus Millenium Pro, Kahr...guns like those. There are also a lot of baby 1911 style guns on the market (generally more expensive). There are a lot of 1911 die hards, but since you're new to this you should try them to see if you like them.

Hello all. My name is Mike. I'm new to DRTV. I am a retired police officer
who loves to shoot USPSA/IPSC. I like to do a little fishing here and there
but I prefer "two alphas" when I can get them. I am very fond of 1911
style pistols. I own several and carry one as a retired police officer and in
my armed security job.
Introductions being accomplished, I would like a liitle info. I heard from
some IPSC types here in Old Bridgen that Rock Island Armory is making
a 1911 in .38 Super with a double stack mag. Can anyone tell me if they've
seen one? It supposed to be a low priced affair and I love to tinker with 1911s.
Maybe it could become a low priced Limited gun.
They did have a .38 super. You could get it at Sarco, but I have not seen it in a few months.

Evenin' all,
My name is Rob and I'm from way down here in the north. The north part of Florida, that is. I'm a lifelong hunter and firearm/firearm safety enthusiast, thanks to my old man and his old man. Graduated college a few years ago and went into the Navy instead of business. Couldn't be happier. I got lucky and I'm stationed down here for my first training location, but I can't wait to see more of the world. Looking forward to getting some resources and lessons from the site. God bless.

Gday All

also have a Lee Enfild 303, CZ .22, and a Lanber 12g (so far have a massive wish list ;) )
you guys have it Sooo easy over there . as I would love to even shoot an AR 15 it is only a dream here
Welcome aboard, mate! I would love to have you weigh in on the oncoming bans that are going to be attempted here.
Any Swiss visiting or lurking are invited to fill us in on THEIR "gun culture" as well.
Hello, my name is Dale and I have a gun problem. Well actually my problem is I don't have enough. 12 rifles, 7 hanguns and 3 shotguns. Mostly M1 Garands, M1 Carbines Glocks, a 1911 for ccw, a couple S&W wheel guns. My fav being a 629 mountain revolver I use in the woods in a Simply Rugged Sourdough pancake.
Well let's see. I have 3 carbines. An Inland in a repro paratrooper stock, my father was with the 101st at Normandy to Bastogne where he was wounded. A Rockola, and a Sagana SG. My Garands are from each maker. An H&R, A decent IH, a like new almost unissued -13 Winnie that is all origional mfg in June 45. I don't think it was issued. My SA is a 33,000 therabouts gas trap reciever that was rebuilt with all 1944 parts so I assume it was rebuilt in 1944 all of these rifles came from the CMP. I just sent a note with my application asking if I could get a WWII SA or a Win and I was floored when I got them. I also have a couple of AR's but we know they are evil so I keep them locked up seperatly to keep them from influencing the others.

Hi Ya'll, Ray from Greenville, SC here. Armed myself to the teeth after my dogs were killed. (I don't exactly live in the best of neighborhoods.) Springfield XD 45 ACP, Taurus 38 Spec., Kel-Tec P3AT .380, and Mossberg 590 Shotgun for personal & home protection. Savage 22 and Marlin 336 30-30 lever for hunting. Still seems like something is still missing, though. Wonder what it could be? :)
Hi! I'm Bill from Glendale, Arizona. Looks good around here! Glad I found this place. Bill T.

Welcome aboard, John. With your background you should fit right in.
We are a rather motley crew, from die-hard Christian conservatives/libertarians, to the non-religious to our closet liberal kalifornian. Don't say "clip" around Hazcat, as he and a bunch of us are grumpy old men. We have a couple of cutie ladies, M'ette and Squibby to name 2.
Have fun here - this is probably the best site on the net for gun-stuff. Flamers don't last long, so the discussion is usually decent and well-thought. And it is all about the guns!
Rebel, No I am not nor have I ever been a member of the NRA. I don't really have anything against them, but don't really see any reason to join up either.
Been watching the forum for a few months and finally decided it was time to join and say hello!!

In other words, when good arguments with supporting evidence are thrown out because they are different than what "some guy told me once."
Now, if someone can show me a real useful reason to join, I may consider it, but even then I doubt it.
"Lone Gunman, Lone Gun get it, I work alone get it..."
I am well aware of the writings of the men that helped form and forge this nation and none of them joined the NRA. (I know I know it wasn't around back then) but it also wasn't necessary. Every family was expected to have guns because they hunted their own food. Look, I get why they are around, I am glad that they are. I know that they do a lot of good stuff. But I have a club, I don't pay dues, I don't have someone representing me (or misrepresenting me) to the government and I am none the worse for not joining. When it becomes mandatory for firearms instructors to join... I will probably break the law. Now, if someone can show me a real useful reason to join, I may consider it, but even then I doubt it.
"Lone Gunman, Lone Gun get it, I work alone get it..."
PS I hear there is a another guy from oz here abouts called Philw, let me know if he acts up I have some dirt on him! hehe ;D

There is so much more irony in your statement, let's see. You are assuming that I value my paycheck over my integrity, you would wrong as two boys having sex. To me, if I have to submit to something that I am against, in any form, to fight for what I believe in, then it is a wash, a no win, a draw. And not even a tie, when it comes to my integrity, there is very little I put above it. How can I, in one breath say that I think lobbying groups are destroying our government and therefore by proxy our nation, and then go support a lobbying group...
What I find ironic is that you, Tom, live in a state who's motto is "Live Free or Die" and you feel like you have to give up one freedom to support another (and yes, feeling obliged to give to an organization is a loss of freedom, regardless of the cost). And second and even funnier, is that you live in a town named after a region whose people wouldn't even give a token of "Earth and Water" to appease the people trying to disarm them. Laconia (Sparta) and it's people refused to accept life any other way than that which they saw fit.
You know what is worst of all? We are a country born of fire, blood and a refusal to accept things other than the way we want it. We pontificate about republican this and democrat that. Do you realize that if George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were alive today that they would most likely be leading a violent revolution against a defunct system plagued by lies, only out for themselves and dead set against removing things that should be ours by birthright? If we hadn't grown so comfortable in our ways, the ways given to us by the very freedoms that we hold dear, that we would have taken our country back by now. So you pay someone to go to Washington and stump for you, and so they get the job done this year... great, good for you. It is a bandaid, just like all of this bailout money that they are giving away. I won't support it, end of story. It isn't a question of endurance, it is a question of integrity, and until someone gives me a reason larger than that I won't be joining...
Rob may be a fine guy with a valuable lesson plan, but if johncasey4 is an example of his instructors ,my money will be going to Gabe Suarez, Clint Smith and others who do not leech money off my sport with out giving anything back to it. Oh yeah, some of it will be going to the NRA as well.
""Lone Gunman, Lone Gun get it, I work alone get it..."
With that attitude you must have been a REAL comfort to your team mates.

Wisconsin, first off brother, don't take leaps of faith, don't put faith in what I say or do, when you deal with me remove faith from your vocabulary... why? Because faith by definition removes the right to question. Your brain is far more powerful than any gun you will ever carry, don't surrender it willingly ever. As to your thoughts on my perspective, again you are forgetting the goal. You, the Green Berets and LA SWAT, at the end of the day, all have the same goal in training, to make it more likely that you go home at the end of the conflict. Boiled down it is as simple as that. When I am teaching shooting, and just shooting, everyone gets the same thing. There isn't an "advanced super secret Navy Seal technique" that I will only teach to people that have a "I'm a ninja" letter. Tactics are different, that has to apply to the individual, but shooting is the same. Let me be perfectly clear with you, who I chose to affiliate with has absolutely no bearing on how or what I teach outside of what I have limited myself to learning. If I were your trainer, you would be encouraged to ask questions that challenged the very ground that I built my case upon and if you found a glaring deficiency, I would DEMAND that you called me on it. The NRA has nothing to do with what I teach, even if it was an NRA curriculum. I have learned a great many things with regard to shooting. I have accepted the responsibility of vetting all information based on rational thought and science. Anything else is emotionally contrived BS and it has zero place in this world.
Full Auto, thanks for the welcome. I agree with your thoughts on the decision having to come from the inside. With regards to your other question, let's see; 1. Team guys are issued Sigs, I have no idea what they carry personally, I carry an M&P compact 9mm.
2. Seals do not like cold water, in fact they hate it (usually) and in general being cold at all. 3. Team guys don't use 90% of the equipment advertised as "Official _____ of the Navy Seals." 4.BUDs, while difficult isn't the hardest training in the world... Being in a platoon is much harder. 5. Yes, we all remember what class we graduated with, no class numbers don't have letters, yes we will do everything we can to destroy you if you say you were, and weren't a Seal.
Those are really all I can think of at this point, if you have any specific questions I will usually answer them. The bottom line for me is that being a Seal enabled me to do a great many things, it opened doors, but it doesn't define who I am... just a job, and at the end of the day, a job like any other job that you get tired of...
brosmetal- take the Steelers, the ravens had like 20 injuries last weekend and Flaco is bound to make "the Mistake" some time. Thanks for the welcome, I think we are going to have fun, hopefully we all learn a little too.

Just thought I would introduce myself as new in the area, I have already posted an few times and annoyed Tombogan and Pathfinder. I just started shooting about a year and a half ago, bought a 1911 then a buckmark with the stimulus package check. I wanted to make sure Browning stayed in business.

And yes, the .22 is a much better choice to get her hooked on shooting, Noise and recoil tends to scare beginners.Yeah, that's why chose it, once I had it :)

I will most certainly learn some new things too.

You have to live in a room on the 5th floor of a mental institution .. be able to sit in a corner and drool to the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy... and stack Cheerios for hours on end to totally understand and merge with most of us in here..
Now if you qualify and match that criteria... then hop aboard and join us here for a quite different experience than other places..
What if they keep you in a basement room and all you do is try to stack BB's all day?
Does that count?
;D ;D 8) ;D ;D

Hello from Alaska! No, I can't see Russia from my backporch. I do watch the Outdoor channel on Wednesdays! Larry potterfield has some great tips! The Best Defense has my wife's attention also. So it is a family night when it's -30 degrees out during the mid winter. This is a great site and I am happy to be part of it. WaffenAlaskan
Welcome Waffen... -30 brings a somewhat new perspective!
Waffen, welcome aboard. You're right Pathfinder, and I didn't mean to imply that -30 was all that unique...I know a lot of us deal with it sometimes. But not me...and I hear they've had some really screwy stuff, like -30 for a week then +50 and stuff.
Jay, no new perspective to us in ND, it's been that cold lately here although it is warming up slightly now.

the Irish government are passing a bill at the moment to ban all hand-guns deamonpi I don't think it would happen in the U.S.A. because of your constitution but here its only a privilege to have a fire-arms licence and with all the drug related murders it looks like we might loose them and shooter 32 we will need more than the luck of the Irish ha ha I Will keep you up dated Kind Regards (Irish Anto)
Hello i am new here wanted to jump in and say howdy. :)
New to the forum. Big fan of the 1911. After I learned how to shoot a Glock, that is all I will carry now...
776 new members in 11 days. The word seems to be getting out. ;D
I just hope they dont turn this place into one of those "other forums"
As long as guys like you, Frank, Pegleg and Haz stick around I don't see that being a problem ;D ;D
OK, but I get to play bad cop!
Welcome guys!!!
It's nice to see such a wide variety of folks jumping in. We're a strange bunch, but we're all on that one page together.
I agree that we are all on the same page, however I wouldn't say we are all together ... some of us pull over the top and some from around behind ;)
And some just tear a page out of the book and use that.......... ;D ;D ;D
Sears and Roebuck catalog, anyone?.........guess it beats corn cobs....... :o
;D
If I catch you tearing pages out of a Midway, Brownells, Dawson, Dillon ... Catalog in the outhouse for a purpose like that I will beat you about the head and shoulders as needed :o
Anybody sitting here? FNG, USN (Ret) AOCS (AW) IYAOYAS.
Oh Hell no! (I can say that, my business pard is a retired AWC) It's that tag-on you get to use after completing the Aviation Warfare Specialist program. Aviation Ordnanceman, myself.
Business partner was in HSL-32 & 34 (H-2's) in the 80's. HSL stands for "Hauling Some Liquor", "Hauling Stolen Lobsters" or "Heading for Shore Leave", right?

Um, guys, could one of you start speaking English please? No se habla mil-speak. ;D
P-3 Orion (variation of a DC-3 turbo prop) used for Anti Submarine warfare and tracking missions throughout the known world. Sonabouy is a piece of ordnance dropped into the sea where it's explosive charge sends a sound wave that bounces off big submerged objects of interest and relays that information back to a listening post (of sorts) and allows the rest of the Navy to go hunting for said submerged object of interest.
The Navy has the coolest shit on the planet.....
Hell, Tim, even I know what a P-3 is (variant of a DC-6 BTW), and a sonobouy. Used to live a few clicks from Glenview NAS. Nothing like watching an F-14 use Lake Ave. as a marker line coming in for final.
it was the gibberish of HSL-32 & 34 (H-2's) and FNG, USN (Ret) AOCS (AW) IYAOYAS I was referring to.
I'm in IT and I thought we used acronyms - got nothing on the gummint types, for sure! ;D

I am a Industrial Asset Protection Specialist working in a large facility. I am basically a Firefighter, EMT-B, Patrol Officer in charge of protection and policing a large mill.
As an Eagle Scout I attended many rimfire rifle matches and spent some time at Fort AP Hill in a survival/rifle match. I have attended many classes on the use of force, legal concepts, and some basic pistol defense courses. I have had some long range rifle training and scouting courses.
I shoot steel matches and am slowly working into tri-gun matches.
I am an avid Jeeper and Horseback rider, vollunteer Firefighter/EMT and a gun nut.
I am a proud Constitutionalist and political activist. I am on a first name basis with my house representitives.
I get the feeling Spector isn't one of my admirers.
I tend to read a lot more than post so don't expect to see many topics started on my behalf.
I love listening to Mike's Pod cast and watching Wednesday's at the range on the Outdoor channel.
I guess that is about it.

Hi everybody......I guess the gun is a 10-22, at least thats what it started out as. There isn't anything Ruger on it anymore, so maybe its just a 22? not sure there :) I like it and it's really fun to shoot, has a nice trigger pull.

. . . the Texans are taking over. ;D
Either take over or secede, that's sort of the Texan way.
Either take over or secede, that's sort of the Texan way.
You Texans keep enjoying feeling smug. In a few days us northerners will thaw out from this beautiful spring blast and express ourselves. Damn it's cold!
Welcome rah! Any flaws you care to expose upfront?
. . . the Texans are taking over.
Newspaper article: (Texas) Legislators mull giving guns tax holiday (http://www.amarillo.com/stories/031309/new_news13.shtml)
Evidence of why I think that Texas is a great place to live.
Greeting from sunny Daytona Beach FL
Richard here.
I am into amateur radio, guns, and my family.
Favorite pistols are my Steyr's. I own a GB, M9A1, and a M40A1. Looking to add 357 sig to the lineup.
And of course my 1911 45ACP.
For long guns I have a 25-06 that was my late fathers.
So much more I want but $$ is always the issue.
Cool. The bigger, the better and more people with knowledge to give answers on some of the topics. :)
Thanks for being nice Haz. Did kind of leave myself wide open on that one!!! ;D
Haz being NICE ? Yeah, right. He just couldn't decide WHICH zinger to use. ;D
WOW,
He's a good lookin' boy! Best friend? Mine is.
Ya know all Maine Coons have an 'M' on their forehead.
True story, too.........I wouldn't lie 'bout momma's cat.
Mom had one of the 'beasts' for 14 years. Crazy-assed cat would follow me squirrel hunting into our pecan grove and wait on me to shoot one for its supper. If I didn't go hunting it would go up into the trees after one (no joke). I watched that damned cat chase a squirrel out of a tree. Went out on a limb after the rodent and when they ran out of limb, the squirrel bailed out and the cat went after it. Squirrel hit the ground and the cat landed on the squirrel.
Earned it's food that day.
True story, too.........I wouldn't lie 'bout momma's cat.
Yeah but I know a secret,...... some cats frequent gun orgies here at DRTV (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I think my M+P furnished the handcuffs,... ::)
Yep!

Pet in a gun orgie it happend to me. My pup Spooky like to sniff and lay down a sleep near them. Wierd :)
Welcome, Darth.
Dive in the water is fine. ;)
But it can get deep....... ;)
Yes, Welcome Darth.
The "water" isn't the only thing that can get deep here ! ;D
Welcome aboard.
Howdy, y'all! Just got here. Cat's got my tongue. Just wanted to see if my signature came out in italics or if I hafta go back and use different brackets. ;D

Thanks, guys. Couldn't stay long yesterday, as an electrical storm was moving thru and I had to unplug or risk losing more than my tongue. It's clear so far today, altho more rain is forecast. Can't linger in any event, as I must knuckle down and do my state tax return. May not get a refund this year, which could mean not only no new gun but maybe hafta sell an old one. Heartbreaker, I know. As to cats, I'm trying to get the few photos I have on my hard drive into position to attach one of them here. Not the savviest cyber type, don'tcha know.
The veteran "Members" (loosely put) didn't notice that you Clark Kent are the 4800th member! Wow 100 members in a few days! Welcome. I lurked a while also. Before you know it you will be in a heated discussion with someone for sure
Glad someone caught #4800........I had been trying to catch it but had not checked back since #4796.

Hi, I'm Keith from Sunny Florida! Have been into hunting all of my life in one way or another. Not a fanatic but love to be out in the woods. I have recently gotten into Hands Guns and Self Defense/target shooting. I appreciate the forums so I can learn more from much more experienced folks than me. ;D
Also we have a real bag of mixed 'nuts' that will kid you at the drop of a hat! (I will do it on a mere flutter of the brim ;) )
Can I be the CASHEW Haz?.....can I, please, can I? ;D ;D ;D
Well, I'm not sure yer up to THAT yet. How bout we start ya as a philbert.
(http://www.smileyx.com/smilies/happy0045.gif) (I crack myself up!)
Welcome aboard Webby, . What you are witnessing is called thread drift, it happens ALOT around here ;D
Haz I want to be the Hickory Nut
Ping, The red is NOT dye, it is a reaction between the shell and the sweat of the Arabs picking them. (Hope they pick right handed) ;D
Hey Haz, I'm just south of you in Bradenton. Not much hunting here but there is a lot of getting out in the woods. The private land is hard to get on anymore unless you have connections. State land is not the greatest hunt but you can get out and enjoy nature.
I want to be the Walnut!

Webbey1955, you chose a great nut. Welcome aboard. Haz, can I be the pistachio? Not a red one that has been dyed but one that is fresh??? Screw it, I would be a happy piece in pistachio pudding. LOL
Wouldn't it be sooo boring if we just said "hello"...? ? ? ;D ;D ;D ;D
And, I guess since I live in a south Georgia pecan grove, I want to be the Pecan.......... (or a 1-8 NC) ;D ;D
Here?? NEVER! ::)
HMMM Hickory reminds me of TN and yer from a damn yankee state so I'll have to take it under advisement. ;)
We have the "Shag bark" Hickory up here, we call them "Pig nuts" because it takes a damn 5lb sledge to shell them, but squirrels love them. ;D
Pig nuts, huh....well yer sure pig headed sooooo, OK yer a hickory!
Welcome to the "big show!" While we have fun, and we are a bunch of mixed nuts, we do protect our own ;)

Howdy all!
My name is Phill, and I live near the Superstition Mountains in Apache Junction, AZ.
I’ve worked for Marshal and Marshal’ette Halloway as a moderator at CAS City for about 5 years now. Although I have been pretty much enveloped with CAS for the past ten years, my recent visit to the NRA Convention in Phoenix has awakened some of my more modern shooting interests.
Came from a "warped camp"myself. Grew up on a cop's sense of humor ;D
Got a question for you, how does one post an avatar? Photobucket.com? I haven't tried it yet....
Thanks,
Leticia

Hi RRio!
No need to tell you how great this place is, thanks to the 3Ms!
Thanks for the welcome. ;)
BTW, I decided to change my username to something "non CAS". Hope you all do not mind.

Hey Peg, I thought of you today, I was picking up some Vegetables, and it being that time of year I made sure to get a couple of Vidalias ;D
Last year I bought 10 pounds of Vidalia onions and made onion sandwiches out of most of them. Just bread, mayo, and a thick slice of onion. :P

Y'all makin' me hungry.........throw a little mustard and dill pickles on there with the mayo and onion and yum. :D
I go through at least five pounds weekly when there in season. I don't buy anything but Vidalias this time of year...they keep really well too. Wrap them in paper towel and keep em in the refer, they will hold for a couple of weeks. Most don't last more than a few days though......they get eaten..... ;D

I had to use one in potato salad for a cookout yesterday, but the other is going into sandwiches ;D

Hello to everyone.
I found Mdway's The Best Defence about a month ago. Awesome program. Thanks to everyone involved.
Just found this site today. It's really great. You have a lot of very knowledgable members and I hope to pick up a bunch of good info.
I'm also a Proud NRA and USCCA member. I'm hooked on Gun Broker and AuctionArms as well.
What can I say.........my new favorite site!!!
(yes I can take as well as give ;D )
Anyone wanna have a go at that one?!?!? ;D
Welcome Kid!Thanks for the welcome and you're right about the pet peeve......a mag is a mag and a clip is a clip and no, not scared at all.......however I'm not going to touch that one about whether you like to give or take. What you do behind closed doors is your business. LOL
Hope my 'clips' thing didn't 'scare' you. ;) Just a pet peeve that the guys on here ride me about. :)
In any case I'll be around to BS and joke with. (yes I can take as well as give ;D )
Actually, in the interest of accuracy, The Best Defense is Michael Bane's brainchild, put together by MB, Michael Janich and Rob Pincus. Midway sponsors the whole night (as well as another night on another channel). Thanks for the welcome Path. I agree with you about Hanoi Jane......one of my very least favorite people. Actually the Kid Shelleen handle is a nod to my father. He's been gone for about 20 years but he loved Lee Marvin in the Kid Shelleen role. I remenber him bustin' a gut when the Kid came to the wake drunk, blew out the candles and started singing Happy Birthday. Pretty irreverent for the day.
I welcomed you on another thread, and other than starring Hanoi Jane, Cat Ballou is a fun movie. As for the correction above, hopefully it will be something to come to know andlove, welltolerate, um, learn to deal with about folks on this site! ;D
Welcome Kid, The 3 M's have provided us with a great site to get answers, trade information, stay informed complain and kid each other. Thanks Tom
Welcome Kid.Thanks Blackwolfe
Welcome Aboard Kid... ;)Thanks for the welcome. I loved the drunken horse scene too. It's interesting who responds to the Kid Shelleen handle, we kind of date ourselves. I use that handle on GunBroker and AuctionArms also...as well as a few others. When I win a gun auction and call to complete the purchase, I can always tell the sellers age when they look up my info and begin to chuckle.
My favorite scene was the Kid and his drunken horse leaning against the building....
Don't care for Hanoi Jane either but you have to admit, she was a good looking woman back in the day... ;D
Welcome Kid...one of my all time favorite characters. Thanks Jay
Welcome "home" Kid. After awhile this place feels like my home on the web and I bet it will for you too. Thanks, I'm already feeling pretty comfortable around here. There are a lot of great people here and I find that I'm of like mind with most of them. It does feel like home, home on the web.
Don't care for Hanoi Jane either but you have to admit, she was a good looking woman back in the day... ;D
BarbarellaI've never been able to stomach her politics......then or now. I don't like Hanoi Jane, BUT she was hot as Barbarella and for a while she was holding up pretty well.
Geez, I'm old . . . .
i'm in west-central Texas.Sounds like the hill country to me, you lucky devil.
Afraid i don't drive a crusier, i have a pickup..........and we don't have a mcdonald's in our county. ;)
but we do have Dairy Queen. ;D ;D ;D

Newb checkin in from Louisville, KY. Long time range guy, pretty new to concealed carry and personal defense. Most of my shooting has been long range rifle stuff til recently. I bought my first handgun soon after getting my CCDW, and then discovered best Defense. I have learned so much from this show. It has even motivated me to fire a little more often and not just throw lead downrange for the sake of that wonderful smell. I even want to learn some empty hand stuff... which i was never interesetd in until watching Mr Janich make it idiot proof for guys like me.
Jump in the the water is fine.
Hi, all. New guy, Onrecess. (Get it? On recess? Playground? I'm your worst nightmare, an armed, shudder, teeeacherr... The reason y'all flunked 4th grade :P) South Florida resident, vet, liberal gun nut (ya don't gotta be a paranoid gun nut to be a gun nut ;D ) RVer, all around fun guy (not fungi...) and humorist.
Lover of all, "hold my beer and watch this" like that Marshal said. Today a show about giant wild hogs (oh boy, I thought! Turns out they are supposed to be dreaded and feared, darn it!) had a good old boy from Texas about 30. He shot a 700 lb charging pig 6 times to stop it. Said it was big as a horse... Naturally, he threw his leg over (naturally). Of course it got up and ran, he jumped off and his buddy killed it with shot #7. I just KNOW he said, "Hey, watch THIS!" as he straddled it! (In my 50s I think it was idiotic, in my 20s I probably would have done the same except hold on to the ears and ride just out of range and be gored to death! This guy was 30ish, just old enough to have enough sense to let go!)

The fact that people like you are teachers:And don't think we don't appreciate it! ;D You ought to reconsider though. You can pretty much scream at a liberal teacher (pretty much all college educated non-thieves are liberals- college educated thieves like lawyers, many business majors and politicians generally aren't ) at all the conferences and be sure the school won't dare object! Tempting, yes? Imagine you are missing being able to scream in my face without fear of any reprisal. See? Tempting, isn't it? :P Heck, I'm pretty much a moderate at school. I don't even teach the recycle save the earth garbage! You could scream at real liberals! (I must admit to hating Democratic officials only a little less than Repugnant officials, having guns, hating taxes, and not being too concerned with "animal rights", making me a lot less liberal than almost every other teacher). Loud as you want! The school resource officer may stand and watch, but nobody would even say boo! Think about it. I know you are tempted! Heck, where can I scream at Republicans and not get a good bop on the nose? Think! Where could you scream right in the face of a 6'4" 200 and too many lbs veteran, lifetime pipefitter- my last life- bit of a redneck Texican liberal and still breath through your nose? ;D Too late to send my kid to some nutty right wing military academy, darn it! Ahh, wisdom always comes too late. Not too late for you! Reconsider public schools! ;D
Reason #3988577689 to not send my kids to public school.

I'm a new member. What a GREAT site ! I feel at home reading so many great posts and share the same opinions so much of the time. I look forward to getting to know many of you. I think you have something very special here.
Welcome Johnny B.
Hey Johnny Bravo,
Welcome Brother!!!!
Yes, he's my #1 Brother-in-Law. Go easy on him. It's not his fault that his sister picked me. ;D
So, we got us some relatives? Goody.....he can give us some real dirt on ya Kid!Sorry, I bribed him way too well before I showed him the site. ;D
;D
Sorry, I bribed him way too well before I showed him the site. ;D
Oh but the CAT has not weighed in yet! ;)
i WILL get the low down!
;D
I bet we can more than match the bribe.....seems little Johnny has a price..... ;D
Lets start a fund (better known as bribe)!
I have the Hazarita recipe saved ! !
Welcome in Johnny B, If Kid recruited you you must be OK ;D
BUT I hold the copy write! Now we're right back in bribeville. Forget the big bucks Johnny B. got. I could come up with some major scratch for the world famous Hazarita recipe. ;)
;)
;D
I've got all the dirt on the Kid. But dirt aint cheap now days.
I hear that in Texas, the dirts pretty cheap, it's the water that's getting a little expensive!
You fellas getting any rain down there cuz up here in in the northeast, we've about had enough.....July 24 might see 68 degrees and another day of rain.....
Oh hell Kid, you brought kin onto the forum??? ;D Welcome Johnny Bravo. Love the cartoon by the way.
Cartoon?? That is really him I'm pretty sure. ;D
Glad to have kinfolk of Kid on the forums. Welcome and happy as all git out to have another Texan join.
"Today these forums! Tomorrow we will remove our state from the Union and tell BHO to kiss our ass. Or at least just flat out tell Hussein to KIA and FOAD!" - HMM, kind of a long battle cry.
Maybe just shorten the whole thing to: FOADIAF* BHO!!!
*F^@k' off and die in a fire.
Welcome fellow Texan.
Should we start a phone tree for that day? I got my rebellion ammo ready and my anti-tyranny rifle on stand by. I'm about ready to take over this forum and declare it the National Gun Forum of Texas. Once the Texas bourbon whiskey distillery starts putting their drink to market I ain't got no use for the Union. ;)
Cartoon?? That is really him I'm pretty sure. ;DWe need to just go ahead and secede. ;D The nation of Texas. Got a nice ring, don't it?
Glad to have kinfolk of Kid on the forums. Welcome and happy as all git out to have another Texan join.

Thanks for all the welcomes. You are a great bunch of guys. I am proud to be a texan ( 6th generation ). But these days we all need to stick together as proud americans. This country is in trouble and it's people like us that can make a difference. I feel lucky to have found you guys. Thank you Kid ! I hope to get to know all of you.
Johnny - It appears that you have been well welcomed, and the last few days have exposed you to more on here than anyone needs to know.Shame on you for promoting the black market.
Welcome anyway!
If you can steal that stolen silver nose from Kid it can be traded for Hazritas in the corner ;)
Hello everyone. My name is Jim. I have been a shooter for quite a few years now but never owned a ar15 before. So before joining the darkside and getting one I wanted to learn about them first. Well I joined ar15.com and was there about a month when I was accused of being a previously banned member and was locked out. Oh well. Anyway this board seems to have a bunch of great people here and I am looking foward to learning from yall.
Shame on you for promoting the black market.
That would be the "Market of Color" in this new country of change >:(
Taupe?
Mauve?
Violet?
;D
I vote ecru!!!!
is it weird we know these colors instead of "beige, pink, purple and yellow"?
;)
What is it you guys do for a living again?? ;D
Ecru?!! I had to google it!!
I only know 10 different colors. For me ecru doesn't exist.
I know all the colors in the crayola box.
The LITTLE crayola box ;D
UUUUUUUHHHHHHH----What the heck has the number of colors got to do with new member check-in??? ???
HI, I am new here, but not really new to guns. My DW for a long time did not want guns in the house, so for quite a few years I did not own any. I inherited several rifles and pistols after both my father and step-father passed away, so she finally gave in and I have since bought several pistols , and I even gotten her to the range a few times.
She did request that I get a gun safe because our five year old grandson lives with us, tuff sale(hehe)I worked in retail, and yes ecru is a color to women, but it looks like light beige to me! ;D ;D
If we are gonna get all technical, there are only three true colors: red, yellow and blue. White and black are shades. Using varying combinations of the above you can get "bastardized" colors in various shades or tints with the addition of white and black.
So.... you only really need three to five in your "crayon box" and you can get to all the others.
BTW ecru is used a bunch in crossword puzzles. Think of a very light tan.
Just an aside, there are actual jobs where people coordinate the on-screen color to the actual output color in digital printing. The red you see on screen may not be the red that the printer puts out. People get paid more than you think they should to keep output consistent with display. Yeah, I'm a bit of a nerd...
UUUUUUUHHHHHHH----What the heck has the number of colors got to do with new member check-in??? ???Welcome to the forum BigE. It's always great to welcome fellow Texans, especially a gun guy who got his wife to start shooting AND had HER convince him to buy a gun safe. You've got my respect, now can you pass on a few hints for wifey success. ;D

Welcome Kevin, in among the BSing we DO learn stuff here.
You will find that gun folks have jobs and other hobbies that pretty much encompass all human knowledge, and it is represented by one person or another here.
However we DO tend to fixate on guns, girls and food. ;D
Kevin, glad you posted here so we canchastise..err...make fun of...err..ridicule....err...WELCOME you properly. ;D

Welcome Jake! Even though you wore 'Air force gloves' ;) this old Army guy thanks you for your service.
Security work? That covers a lot of ground can ya narrow it down some? Maybe give us your views on some of the stuff shown on 'The Best Defense' and such. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
Haz, SAS is British Army, not US Air Force.
That's why some of his phrasing sounds kind of like Phil and Sledgemiester.
Jackel, damn fine country up there. Welcome aboard.Welcome to you both. Jakel, I might have to PM you for sharpies or prarie chickens in the fall if you're in eastern MT., or trout in the summer, if you're in the west. I'll reciprocate with snook and tarpon in the Florida Everglades in late spring! Tn. Gentleman, welcome as well.
You too TN Gent - I have no idea who Bobby Bowden is, but from another NRA Lifer - welcome!
Oklahoma here, to the core. 41 years old (am I really that old?), love to do backwoods camping, read, write and listen to good music (Elvis, Waylon, Buffett -- proud Parrothead -- Beethoven, Mozart, B.B. King, Sinatra, bluegrass, you name it). Big Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners fan, and a big fan of Glock, Ruger, Marlin and all good guns. Politically I'm a libertarian leaning Republican, but I don't believe legitimate differences in political views have to affect personal relationships or friendships.
Glad to be here.

Other than some dental floss and an ugly hat, TAB's latest qualifies as just naked.....I can't believe I'm saying this but it's a bit much. Maybe it's just the ugly hat that bugs me. ;D

Haz, Gen Heinz Guderian Commanded German armored troops who invaded Poland. He, along with Erwin Rommel British Gen JFC Fuller, and our own George Patton are considered the fathers of modern maneuver warfare. They were the theorists who in the pre WWII years developed the idea of "Mechanized warfare in an attempt to avoid in future the stalemate of trench warfare.

Hello everyone from Iowa.
Welcome to the fun Yankeefist. I had already checked out your site, I linked to it from the Knife makers web site you mentioned in your first post. (SWEET BLADES ! ;D ) One thing I would point out on your "Things we need" page you mention a titanium receivered M 1A, at the current price of Ti you could put a down payment on a Rolls Royce for what that would cost, that's why no one is making Ti frame revolvers any more. If you can afford a block of Ti the right size you could have a receiver custom milled and then build from there.
Welcome, Rod and yankeefist.
If your real good you might get to join us in the corner ;)

Tell BO you need a bail out to study the effects on society of various "assault weapons".
New to this site but a long time shooter. Right now I'm into the tactical 22lr's that have come out. Own a factory Ruger 10/22 with a Tapco Intrafuse stock, GSG5, S@W MP15-22, and Colt M4 22 carbine. Love them all. Now just need to find the funds to get the new Ruger SR-22 and a Remington 597 VTR. Anybody know where some free money is? :)

Hay tombogan03884 that's n ot a bad idea! After all if the US Gov can give a guy a mil to study cockroaches in Germany and another a mil to study the effect of drought in the Sahara I don't see why they wouldn't give me a mil to study the effects on society of various "assault weapons". ;D
TB....... you are so optomistic! ;D
Ok... So I finally got here... Us old fat guys tend to be a little slow...
I also finally broke down and bought an IPod... and will probably get fired for listening to Michael's Podcasts...

Hi JT and welcome to the forum. If yer not planning on using extra 'hot' hand loads the Vaquero is a fine gun. Personally though I have the Blackhawk 3 screw and I LOVE it. When it comes to SA the sound of cocking it is half the fun! ;)
Thanks for the welcome Hazcat. Yea, I hear ya. the old 4 click is gone and is down to 2 right. The SA rule!
Yep "new' Blackhawks and Vaqueros are '2 click'. Get yer hands on an old 3 screw Blackhawk and you get the 4 click. I understand there are also after market trigger groups that will do this for the 'new' models.Does your BH have the dragoon trigger guard?
Does your BH have the dragoon trigger guard?
Ya gots me on that! I don't even know what that is!those are saaaweet! The dragoon guard is square in the back. Some complailn that it bangs their hands up on recoil. I like the rounded ones.
Here's a pic of mine... (bottom one, top is a 3 screw .22))

Hello Jim, glad your here. It's a little different on the "Reloading" questions... Many here are true pros when it comes to creating the perfect "load". You 'll get specific answers to specific questions.
Just post it in the Down Range Cafe,.... if it's rifle, try the tactical rifle & carbine thread. Handguns? Post it in that thread.
Wherever you decide to post, it will get answered.
Thanks for joining the DRTV Forum.
Don't bleed too much of that Red, White & Blue out... we need to keep as much as we can.

Hello all, after listening to Down Range radio (podcast on my I-Pod) I decided to join the forum, this is a great web site with lots of info.
Quite a bit of BS, too! ;D
Welcome!
Welcome all!
I've read several forums and posted on a couple, but this is my only one. Some claim to be professional and accurate, many are snobby and snooting, but we are just plain weird ;D Best way to describe us is we aren't the guys in the gun shop or club house at the range. We're the ones that go out and enjoy ourselves then retire to someone's basement to clean guns, reload ammo and tip a few back. We're real people with real lives that love shooting and guns ... and thick slabs of raw onion on our hashbrowns........a lot!
I am planning on taking some classes out at USSA pretty soon those look like fun.
Welcome and take a little time to figure out who's whom and what's what.....
Welcome Toad!
As a side note - There are only a few things around here that will make our hair stand on end. The easiest thing to remember is not to change your name to TAB or FQ, don't argue with Mr. Bogan, have fun but control yourself when in Mr. Pincus' toy room (seriously dude ... that guy could kill you with this one finger), remember that we are not PC (ok to say the pledge, pray, and we wish Merry Christmas), and feel free to throw the word "clip" around ... a lot ;D
Oh yea, don't feel insulted if mommy tells you to "hang it in your ass." That is just her way of saying "I love you."
Oh come on, debate is healthy ;D
I'm not THAT bad, am I ? ;D
Hello all. I'm Adam from Wisconsin. I live in the middle of a big swamp on the south shore of the big lake. They won't deliver pizza here, but at least I can shoot in the back yard. Govenor Doyle(aka @$$ clown) is not seeking re election so mabey we will get concealed carry here some day.
Phil,
Have you seen the basement?

Hello from southern Wyoming. Love the sight and have been learning a ton.
Hello, Everyone! Thought I'd better say hi.
Raised in Alaska, now living near Seattle, WA (Lynnwood). I enjoy shooting when I can afford (and find) .45 ACP. Keep hoping I win the lotto--could use a few more guns. Have just a couple now for self/family/home defense (Kimber Custom II and Remington 870).
Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone here on DownRange!!! My name is Carlton and I hail from The Great State of Texas in a little town named Teague.
First I would like to thank my Big Brother Ben aka (M25Operator) for telling me about this site and asking me to join! Look forward to interacting with everyone here and learning what I can from some of the Masters...Started building Black guns about a year ago and can't get enough! Welcome Carlton, glad to have you here and enjoy the fun house!! Any dirt on ol big bro will be appreciated. ;D
Thank you PelLeg - I wanted to add just a little to your tag line if I may...
"The loudest sound in a gunfight is 'click'." My interpretation of this theory is "The two loudest sounds from a gun are a 'click' when it is supposed to go 'boom' and a 'BOOM' when it is supposed to go 'click'.
My name is Chris and I am from Nashville, TN. I am relatively new to guns and shooting, although I have always been fascinated with guns. I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore then when to college at the University of Tennessee. I was not until I started going to the range with friends from work, then bam I was hooked. In the last 2 months I have tripled my arsenal and have a long list of more that I want.
I look forward to getting a lot of insight here.
hey everybody, caffe here. whats up?
Hello all. Shooting in NC here. Found this site through Down Range TV. It should be interesting to see some of the discussions.

Hello! Jim from Central Washington. I've been visiting here for a couple of years and finally decided to join up. Been in o shooting since I was a toddler shooting pellet guns in to Granpa's coal bin, nothing competetive, just for sport. NRA Life Member and enjoy hunting and the outdoors in general. Realized a lifes dream a couple of years ago when I sold my house near Seattle and bought a mini ranch in the hills near Ellensburg WA. Glad to be here!

My name is Sean, I work for a corrections department in Central Florida and have been around firearms for about 7 years now. I have been carrying concealed for about 4 years and am very proud to support the 2nd ammendment.

I also carry 2 knives, 2 flashlights and a small first aid kit. It's not paranoid, it's prepared.
Only 2 Knives? I's a start. ;D Which ones do you carry?
Hi, my name is Eric. I'm in Central Arkansas, north of Little Rock and found out about the forum from the Downrange podcast. I am on a 60 acre farm and have just begun setting up my range. I can get about 450 yards from the back yard. It should be fun! I'm shooting an AR I built with a Compass Lake barrel and an M1A. Looking forward to the forum.
Thanks
NS2,
Welcome to the madhouse! You will find a WEALTH of knowledge here. Some of the best shooters and nicest people you will ever know (and a few smart a$$e$ like me ;) )

Hi and welcome to the new members.
Can anybody tell me where I can buy a Ruger SR9c? I have been shooting all my life, but reently my wife and I got our carry permits and want a home defense handgun. After much research, icluding the downrange video (excellent by the way) I have decided to buy the SR9c, but can't find anyone who has them in stock. Any ideas?
Just wanted to jump in and say Hi from Kentucky.
Welcome ky. You will find much to intrigue you, educate you, anger you, and make you think. All in all, it's a magnificent aggregation of gun nuts.
Welcome, ky...
We can never have to many cats......can we?
Nice avatar! You will be WELCOME here as far as I'm concerned!
;D
Hey ky, I see Mount Washington is a short drive from Ft. Knox, which puts Knob Creek that close too.
You enjoy the shoots there?
Well we presently have 5 in the home. Wouldn't take a million dollars for any of them but wouldn't pay a plugged nickel for any more. ;D
I am presently enrolling the one in the avatar (tigger) in a two day at front site. Told him he has to start pulling his own weight with gaurd duty. ::)
Ya betcha! At least as much as my own mobility and budget allow.
Nothing like the sound of full auto fire in the morning!!! :o
It is about a 20 minute drive. I am also a member of the Frencreek Sportsmen Club which is also about 20 minutes away.
hey all. Im Tyler Stanfield, Im 21 years old, been shooting most of my life.

Welcome aboard Walt and you MAY regret owning up to being a gunsmith. ;)
Hello everyone,
My name is Nate Johnson and I had the honor of meeting Michael and Marshall at the NRA show in Charlotte, NC this past Saturday. It was such a pleasure to be able to speak to such great guys. I gave Michael one of our holsters (www.n82tactical.com) and I am excited to hear his review of it. Anyway, I was a fan of their work before, but now, after speaking with them I realize that they are genuinely passionate about what they do. Thanks for all you guys do for gun rights and America. I look forward to learning from all of you.
Nate
Welcome, Walt - Nate and Rat!! Enjoy the fun house!
Howdy all,
I'm just a country boy that enjoys hunting and shooting. Shooter32 sent me the info on the site with an invite to come join so I'm here to visit when I have the time.

Howdy from Southeast Texas. I'm looking forward to reading your forum and getting more knowledge. Thanks for having me.
Larry
Welcome, Larry. We have at least a few Texans on the forum and they fit in just fine. We treat 'em alright ;). I think you'll find this amalgam of humanity quite interesting, knowledgeable about a huge variety of subjects, and doggone friendly. And, as soon as Texas declares its Independence (again) a lot of us will be moving there ;D.

Hello to all the new folks, sit back, relax and toss a comment or just window shop. You've already met the crazy ones here, the rest of us are just normal folks.
No! Really! I'm not kidding!
Honest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
;) ;)
Hello from North Alabama. I've been shooting for 28 years, local IDPA for that last 7, and some sporadic F-class for the last 5. I'm interested in just about anything about firearms. Lately, since getting my C&R I've had the bug for pre-WWII handguns. If only my income matched my habits...
Anyway, I love all the DRTV shows, and I gladly pay for the entire DirecTV sports pack just to get one channel (Outdoor Channel) so I can see and DVR all your shows.
Jason
mkm, welcome aboard. many of us are seriously whack-jobs. but we' all have fun. just jump in and start swinging.
Basic opinion of handloading around here seems to be that it won't save you a cent.
Because you shoot more ;D
Sean, welcome aboard. If you're like most of us, you're gonna eventually get sent to the corner. Bring some maple syrup with you when you do. Seriously, you'll find a wealth of opinions on anything you may ever think to ask. So enjoy!

Welcome to the forum newbie. Thanx Tom reminding everyone how jacked up Commiefornia is. Wait its 70 degrees out and no snow plows. ;)
Hello Everybody...Well, its educaton and entertainment. Of you have a question, someone will know the answer, and as far as politics, they run the gamut from far right to libertarian/socially liberal. The only requirements are that you are pro-2A and make your case without name calling. Welcome.
Long time viewer of OLN & the Wednesday Nite shows.... avid shooter, hunter & sportsman, finally decided to head over to the site and check things out. Ran into the forum and thought I'd sign up and see what is what.
To paraphrase a 'wise man'
"DRTV Forum, a more friendly warren of gun nuts and patriots you will never find."

Greetings All.
Finialy decided to joining have been watching the shows and reading the forum for some time.
Great to see a lot of members here. Hope will have great time! The site also gives a lot of information on different topics.
Hello,
Just wanted to say what a great place this is. I've been snooping around for quite awhile. My name is Steve and I'm from the Kansas City, Mo. area. I've been my families one and only gun nut for the majority of my life now and as much as it bothers them I'm happy to be me. I have learned a great deal from this site and hope that it continues for the long haul.
Thanks for having me,
Steve
Howdy y'all. My names Joe but friends call me Yote.
John from Central TX here. Big fan of the shows. CHL holder for 9 years and still trying to learn everything I can about many different shooting disciplines. I shoot USPSA and want to start high power rifle. All the while teaching my girlfriend who is a new CHL holder.Welcome to the circus. please feel free to join in. A lot of us are interested in both high power and USPSA, and frankly I just miss Texas. All posts are welcome.
I'm Alex from Oklahoma. I hunt, fish... if its something outdoors I'm pretty much into it.
Hello to all! :)
My name is Eli.
I'm from the communist state of California... ;)
I'm ex-military & have an interest in all things weapons & outdoor related.
I look forward to some good conversations with you salty old dogs. ;D
Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll probably be checking in here fairly often as time permits, since I'm a fan of DownRange TV, although I hesitate to use the word fan since I used to live in LA, somewhat near Hollywood, and it really is short for fanatic. The only thing I'm a fanatic about is self defense. And Majer, too bad you live so far away from New Mexico, my Jeep is really in need of some new rear axel seals. Or is that too small a vehicle for you? ;D
84B20,
Aghh, the old flaming piss pot patch. That was the my only first and last patch I wore on my duty uniform. Only had one other unit patch in the other 22+ yrs. Welcome aboard here.

Hello from Arizona.
AzOS
Welcome to Hammer and AzOS.........it's a fun group here. ;D
Welcome, Hammer52.Solus,
Spent some time in Germany in Wurzburg, but that was back in the mid 60's and everything has probably changed by now. I bet the even serve cold beer by now?
Take care.
Solus,
Yes, Germany is MUCH changed since your days here...the beer is cool though not ice cold, you can get ice for a soda (one or two cubes if you ask nicely), and most of the bases/post you knew are gone. Wurzburg is no longer a US post and Wiesbaden is not the USAF but US Army. But still no one wants to go to Graffenwoehr or Hohenfels (except to hunt).
Enjoy...
You found a great group of knowledgeable and opinionated folk. Welcome aboard, and don't be shy about posting.

OK, that's four but, though it can get a bit out of hand on occasion, we're all of the same mind for the most part..
Ask anything you care to but expect at least fifteen answers from ten different people. Some of us can't remember what we said yesterday!
;D ;)
Hey folks.. My name is Joe. I joined up here almost 4 years ago now. I looked for a post from myself on this thread. Looks like I neglected to introduce myself.. If you'll allow me, I'll correct that now..
I lived in Maine when I joined. I miss it.. I'm back in the land of my birth now, in NE Alabama. I like Maine better, except for Portland..
I'm a conservative political junkie. Card carrying member of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy".. As such, I can get on people's nerves. (Part of my charm, I guess).
Disabled Veteran. NRA Life Member. Advocate for liberty, Concealed Carry and the Constitution generally... (Not a model) Christian.. Tired.
Ill ask you to teach me. I'll ask you to think. I'll ask for a friend sometimes too.. If you'll put up with me, I'll hang around a while..
Thanks guys, and God bless..
Joe
Hey Joe, Portland is a liberal sh!thole.Yeah.. I know about him.. That sorry bastard left his legacy too.. Anti is the worst kinda way..
An interesting piece of Trivia, their anti gun former Police Chief, Micheal Chitwood came from Philly.
He was the detective who let the " Unicorn Killer" Ira Einhorn escape to Europe.
Mr. C, now you know that there skull is from a south Georgia house-cat. ;) ;D ;D ;D
Welcome aboard, I feel like you will fit in well here.
CMMC ?St. Joseph's Manor, just off 295 on Washington Av..
Yeah.. I know about him.. That sorry bastard left his legacy too.. Anti is the worst kinda way..
If I can put this in a nutshell...
My wife of 17 years passed on Dec.13th 08. She spend her last three days in a nursing home because an ice storm hit and I hadn't had sleep in weeks.. I couldn't trust my judgement. I was so tired.. I asked to take a shower on the 12th because it had been a while. I (legally) carry concealed. I told the nurse not to panic if someone came in the shower area and saw a weapon and that I was a good guy.. (My first mistake).. Maine law said I hadn't done anything wrong, btw..The police were called.. I was made to leave and not come back armed.. It took four hours to get back.. When I git back, the charge nurse made me knock for 45 minutes before she would let me in.. She then told me she didn't have to let me in at all and forced me into a lecture, in which I did not back down, for another hour before she let me go see my wife. She was gone about 20 hours later..
Yeah, Portland is a bit like a 20 year old girl.. She's beautiful till she opens her mouth..
Chitwood went back to Philly just before this episode but his mark had been firmly burned on the minds of the sheeple, (by the sheeple, for the sheeple)....
Grrrr...
joined a while back but haven't posted until asking a question in pistols the other day. Someone mentioned to add an intro here. . I guess I'm what Mr Bane calls a 2.0'er. Raised in a very liberal gun hating family. And I do mean Brady/Bloomberg style. This apple rolled far from the tree thank God. Got my 1st 22 (10/22) about 10 years ago when at Bass Pro when there with a LEO friend visiting from FL (I'm in Forsyth County Ga). Never shot it until '09. lol Went to the local Range (Bulls Eye) and too a quick pistol class in '09. Then picked up an SR9 (at range shooting that was the 1st time I also shot aforementioned 10/22 :) . Then got the bug, and picked up in order.. Got my Ga CCL, an M1 Garand from CMP, then a LCP, picked up a CMP 1903A3, Mosin-Nagant. Now looking for an Outdoor range in the area to play with the new Rifles... I like to travel really light, so the LCP is my EDC these days. I use a mixture of Critical Defense and Hydro-Shock with the LCP when carrying..
Gosh, that's terrible. I'm sorry that you lost your wife. We were fortunate that my wife returned from the abyss. I can't imagine your tragedy.Yeah, it left a mark.. Mine came back, well, the Lord gave me a little longer, the first time in 05. At least we thought we made it.. They took out a tumor from her right breast in the summer of 05. We were told at the beginning of that process that if it were disturbed at all that any cells that got away could/would get caught somewhere else and grow again.. I told the Dr to take the whole thing. My wife looked at me like I told her to take her head or something.. I wanted her, not her breast.. I told her I was a leg man, which I am. Tried not to lose a sense of humor through that.. Well, it got disturbed.. It was technically "Breast Cancer" that had metastasized and showed up in her Coccyx Spine (tail bone), right hip, C-Spine and her brain.. That meant bone cancer, which is the most painful place, I'm told, and she lost her mind.. Bubba, my whole world revolved around her.. They took a divet out of her head the size of a softball. The big tumor was too big to take it all. They got about 80% of it. There were 5 more small ones lower in her brain that they didn't see before they went in, but it didn't matter.. She was gone in 10 weeks. Of all the honorable things I've been blessed to do in life, taking care of her was far and away, the most, and hardest.. It was just us, too.. The pharmacist brought the drugs and a Nurse came by twice a week for a half an hour. The kids didn't show up.. My wife didn't want them to see her like that, and they didn't want to remember her like that. I don't blame the kids.. It was hard. When I broke, though, they didn't cut me much slack.. Once she was gone, I freaked.. I never did get over it, per se.. I kinda went around it, but I was still crying at the beginning of this year, pretty regularly.. I lost all of 09.. I remember things that happened but... It left a mark..

Enjoy the friendship with her. That's the part that gets you through the days when it's hard.
I can't not ramble talking about it, it seems.. Sorry.. We were so blessed..
Anyway.. Thank you..
(I can't imagine it either, and it is an abyss all its own..)
Hello everyone. My name is Michael (often FiveofClubs online). I'm from Valley Forge PA. Grew up as the son of Bullseye shooter and until 4 or 5 years ago didn't consider there was really any other way to shoot. Now I'm getting into IDPA, USPSA, 3-gun, and zombie shoots (yes I said the z-word).
Loving the downrange podcast, and the new season of shows!

Hello All!
Well after spending so much time cruising these forums... I've finally decided to join in on the quaker bashing! j/k ;D. I've been frequenting these forums since I came across the first season of TBD: S. Don't ask why I took so long to join, I just don't care much to get into "virtual" arguments with people hiding behind screen names. Of course, after spending so much time one the sidelines, it's easy to see that DRTV is quite a bit different from the rest of the forums. So here I am...
Jovan
Welcome Jovan,
I don't hide much, my name is in fact Timothy! There are a few around who use there own names but posting a picture might just scare folks so I keep my secret identity to a chosen few! There is a cape involved!
;D
Welcome aboard, don't take things to seriously and you'll do fine!
The price you paid is the measure of how great the love you shared is....That kinda makes sense..
My heart and prayers go out to you......I've been a member of USCCAs forum since I've been a member here, (since 07). I spent all my time over there till I showed back up over here a few months ago.. (Church Split..) I had alot of support there and it gave me people to listen, and to ramble at..
The Great Physician spared me your pain when my wife went through a bout with cancer in 2009/2010, so I can not say that I know exactly what you have been going through....but this place was a place of comfort for me personally when we were going through her treatment process....and these folks on here have grown to be a great family to me.
I hope you find that as well.
Whats wrong with loving the G22 or G23.
Do you buy flowers for your inflatable doll ?
They're both plastic. ;D

New guy here. I've been watching Best Defense and Shooting Gallery for a while but I just found the forum.
Welcome aboard!!!!
Hello, Robert Wilson from West Michigan, on the shores of Lake Michigan. New to the shooting sports and am loving it...it's addicting. Just got my wife involved into it to. Just bought her a Ruger .22/45 and she is pretty accurate although I'm quicker...LOL..Love the shows on outdoor channel. I own a Ruger SR9 and a Hawes .44 mag single action that I am having Bob Munden do some work on. See ya, got to go shootin....ye haw...
Hi from SE Michigan.
Mostly a pistol shooter.
Aside from long walks on beaches, I'm interested in hunting, concealed carry, IDPA, and rimfire.
Another Michigander here, this time from South Central Michigan. I've been watching Best Defense and Shooting Gallery and listening to Michael Bane's podcasts for a few months now. Found out about the forum from the Taurus giveaway. Think I will hang out here and see what I can learn.
I purchased a Ruger SR9c earlier this year and my wife and I have applied for the MI CPL. I'm returning to shooting after a number of years away and she's brand new to shooting. I enrolled her in an intro to handguns class and took her to the range and now she's hooked.
My name is Joe from St Louis, MO. Looking forward to learning alot on this forum and looking forward to seeing some of you in St Louis this weekend for the NRA annual meetings. Shoot straight and stay on target!
Howdy! New guy from Boise, Idaho here. Born, raised and currently live in one of the most beautiful states in the US. Love to shoot, fish, rockhound, etc.
I hope to learn as well as contribute to the forum.
Thanks!

Actually half the people are crazy and the other half are just humoring them.
Oh great another Tom and Red.... ;D ;D
Well, welcome aboard anyway. :D
Hello to all. Been reading Michael's blog for quite a while. Decided to join in here too. I've been spending a lot more time on gun talk sites the last year because I can't find enough ammo, primers or powder to do much else other than talk about guns. Before I retired I had an almost unlimited ammo budget (my departments) and now ithat i have more time to shoot t's just so hard to find supplies!
S is the home of the moderator and his rather scatter brained honey, Marshelette.
Hello, new member here. I came across the Downrange Radio podcast just last week, but I'm already hooked. I'm a long time gun owner, but of the "lock it away and forget about it" type. I'm trying to change that -- actively looking for opportunities for training and experience. I've also got kids, my oldest is 9, who I want to get comfortable with shooting and archery and the outdoors.
Jim from Michigan here. I'm a NSSA skeet shooter,
So why, with a name like Doc O Glock, do I suspect you shoot more than skeet and Garands? Hmmm.
Welcome. And you're so right. We don't need to po0-po0 or look down on any of the shooting sports because separately we'll all sink.
<weird thoughts>
Okay, so the mind is thinking what way to make an absolutely stupid shooting sport. Something along the line of synchronized swimming. I'm picturing two people in ballet outfits on a skeet range. A Waltz is playing and two clays are released in each direction. Then to the beat, in time with the music, the shooters shoot one each one direction and then the other.
Da-da-da-da-da. -- Bam bam -- Bam bam. A pirouette follows. Scoring based on hits, music selection, choreography and style.
</wt> (of course I am misleading you because the weird thoughts never end)
Bill, that isn't the sort of ting some ones going to lie about. He didn't say anything about driving a Ford, he said he owned Fords. ;D
Unless he REALLY drives Cooper, then he might want to lie. ;D
hi my name is Gabi I am new here nice to meet you all :D
Welcome, Gabi.
We're not a big group but the we try to make up for that in quality.
Don't worry about the rules. We make them up as we go,
hi my name is Gabi I am new here nice to meet you all :D
Did you guys tell him about the corner?
That's kind of important.
Welcome. Watch out for the off topic drifts. The undertow will kill you! ;^)
I have an old Empire State Arms Co. shotgun. It is a single barrel, single shot, 16 gauge shotgun and the serial no. engraved on the end of the wooden stock appears to be either 14223 or 142243. Can anyone tell me how old this old shotgun might be? It is in good condition. I can post a picture if necessary.
Welcome, Dianne!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180705/92fa0ff380cb54c9b21a1382ab41ce2c.jpeg)
From what I've seen on the DRTV FB group, it looks like you guys produce some great products.
W elcome to drtvI was a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force reserve on C-5 Galaxy aircraft. Mostly I did off-aircraft engine maintenance, including tear-downs and rebuilds.
You never told me what your connection to C5 is.
But = nut....
BTW, the liquor cabinet in the corner is getting low!
Gee, Timothy, I wonder why?????Well, you don’t drink so it’s the rest o these there fellers soaking up da booze, I reckon!
Welcome to the but house!
Formerly 1av8r on the old DownRange site. I didn't participate much back then, so opted for a new name. I consider Austin Fox to be my alter ego. However, I'm still known as 1av8r on some other sites. Hello to all. I have been a pod person for more years than I care to admit and I, too, will turn that magic 70 this year. Happy birthday, Michael.
Hello all! I'm new here. I glad to join you!!
Hello all! I'm new here. I glad to join you!!!
Cool !
We need some ladies around to keep these old farts in line. ;D
So what you are saying is that Mike's going to end up in the corner again....
Pegleg and I will probably be with him. ;D
What I mean is when they say "usual suspects" they mean you and I . ;D
So what you are saying is that Mike's going to end up in the corner again....
HEY!! Be nice! Remember, I not only spend time in the corner, but I make sure the keg is always full and cold.
Pegleg and I will probably be with him. ;D
Wait we get to leave the corner?
I am always the last to know
You don't get to leave until the Disco lights are hung. ;D
Wait...don't forget about putting lights in the floor.
Welcome to the MBTV forum! Thanks! Side question, is there any way to center signature text? It's been a while since I used SMF boardware.
