This little tidbit freaked me out the other day. Apparently the UPS store manager reported a shipment of a gun to the police based on nothing more than it was a gun. From this point on I must assume that police are aware of any and all such shipments from gunsmiths/CMP etc...

Greenwood Village Police said Wednesday that they investigated Matthew Murray in September, after someone voiced concerns about a weapon being mailed to a post office in Greenwood Village.
The officer went to the UPS Store at 4950 South Yosemite Street and talked to the manager.
"The officer examined the package, and then verified that the owner of the P.O. Box, Matthew Murray, was not wanted by law enforcement. Based on the information obtained by the officer the investigation was concluded," Greenwood Village police said.

Guns can be shipped to a P.O. box? UPS delivers to a P.O. box?
-
Don
The UPS Stores give you an actual street address when you rent one of their Boxes.
So anything that can't be shipped to P.O. Boxes,CAN be shipped there.
As an example,if you rented a box there, your address at that UPS Store would be...

When ever I have had a gun shipped it has needed to be sent to a FFL at a physical address. I imagine that it would be possible to use a PO Box or box shipping point if the actual recipient (FFL) signed for it to get it, but those that have shipped to me have always used the address on the FFL..

Black powder and CMP guns are shipped to your door. Also you can get a C&R license for around 300.00 and have those types (C&R) guns shipped directly to you.

Note! there is a big difference between UPS and USPS,
UPS ( the guys in the brown truck ) and USPS ( United States Postal Service )
You can NOT mail a hand gun thur the Postal Service..........
But you can thur UPS...

In the aftermath of Waco, wasn't there a report that the UPS "reported large ammunition deliveries to the Branch Davidians" (or words to that effect) to the feds before the raid?

What's a large shipment?

What's a large shipment?
Depends on whether or not your mail man is a gun guy or not. Some might think I get to many gun mags, some might look at them on there way to my house :D.

Large ammo shipment =
(Me) 10,000 rounds or more
(Feds) More than one box
Also, a C&R runs $35, not $300. I recommend you get one now before the ATF does away with them. I've never bought a C&R gun, but I use mine to get the dealer discount at Midway and Brownell's.
I also believe that if you sent a gun in for service, say to Springfield, they can send the gun directly back to you. Don't quote me, but I think that's right.

howdo you get a c&r?

Look at this link. http://www.familyfriendsfirearms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31304
It explains it pretty well (scroll down for instructions) and has a list of C&R Dealers.

I have found more anti gun or gun ignorant people at UPS stores than anywhere else.

Yes, the gun manufacture ships the gun back to your home address. Thanks for the tip on C&R. I'll look into that.

Don't hang out around City Hall or the Statehouse, huh?
Don -- I saved enough on one order from Midway to pay for the C&R twice over.

Here's a stupid question...What's a C&R?
-
CURIO OR RELIC I think

A curio & relic license allows you to order all those nifty milsurps advertised in Shotgun News as C&R eligible and have them shipped straight to you instead of your FFL, cutting out the $25 your dealer gets for doing the transaction. How much ATF BS is involved I don't know. And how much future ATF buttsniffing you will have to endure as a result of being issued the license I don't know either.

With the state of things these days buttsniffing is probably more sanitary.
