Point to remember, make sure the drone is over. or using, your property ...

I understand, in this case the drone had permission to be where it was, but I've never been clear on the limitations.

I thought that generally we could expect privacy and control of the space about one's property up to 500'.   A/C are forbidden from flying below 500' except with special authorization (t/o and landings excepted of course).  (Remember Barbar Streisands lawsuit to prevent aerial pictures of her property?   Judge said above 500', to bad.)

I thought drones weren't authorize to fly any higher than 400'.  Therefore, without permission, a drone could never fly over someone's private property.

On the other hand, destroying someone's property, even if they're in the wrong is frowned upon.

On the remaining hand, to disobey do-not-discharge-firearms one would need a clear and present threat to life or limb.

In my state and county, air guns are not considered firearms.   If I was going after a drone, I develop an air powered cannon with a net.

YOU DO NOT OWN YOUR AIRSPACE.
Any one who claims you can shoot down drones is full of shit, legally, technically it's pretty easy.

I don't have the details but a couple of years ago a man in Kentucky did use a shotgun and shot down a drone spying on his daughter. The owner sued and LOST. Judge sided with the father. The key here I think was that the drone was over his property and the downed drone landed on his property. I would have shot it down too.

IIRC the thing that got him off was he had video of the drone hovering .
Several others HAVE gone to jail for it regardless of where it was or where it landed.

We need a really high powered garden hose

"Just watering my tomatoes, Your Honor, when the drone flies into the spray...looks like it damaged some of my roses when it made an unauthorized landing on my property."

hmmmm...what is really needed is a high powered jamming device..or something able to over ride the owner's remote.....all kinds of possibilities there....

This drone was owned and being operated by a company that does roof inspections on commercial buildings.  Tony Downs is a poultry processing plant in this small town.  The plant is actually right downtown.
