Fred has apparently realized he's got to RUN if he expects to get the nomination.
This could be too little to late.
Or perhaps a realization by Thompson that his campaign was in freefall and going downhill fast and this is an act of desparation?
ETA: BTW the Weekly Standard is friendly to Thompson. Editor Bill Crystal has a daughter that works for the Thompson campaign.
