Finally....
Fred Thompson has decided to get in the race.
Michael and I have agreed to add a "Gun Owners For Fred" section on Down Range.
(http://www.downrange.tv/images/gunownersforfred.gif) (http://www.downrange.tv/forfred.htm)
We don't hide the fact that we both endorse Fred Thompson, but we also respect that DRTV viewers have different opinions about him, other republican candidates and the democrats fighting to be nominated.
We will devote a specific board for this topic or topics and you are all invited to join.
Feel free to post a link to our Fred Thompson Section on gun and gun ownership related forums.

Mine too, as soon as he gets on the ballot. It has been a long time coming to have this level of 2A supporter as a viable candidate for Pres.
IF he were in the debates, and IF CNN had the cajones to pose Tom Gresham's YouTube question, Fred would be the only one probably able to answer it.

I just put my Fred '08 sticker on Elly May (http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo01/93/45/8f706e30cd3e.jpg)

As I see it, he is the only choice that we, as gun owners have. All the rest of the announced candidates are anti-gun.

Fred Thompson announcing his candidacy:
-
ANYONE that remembers the concept of divided and diffused powers will ALWAYS have my support. Being a Federalist it's the most important things that makes us Americans, that makes us citizens. A politician that ignores this only will enslave us.
He does a great job reminding us who we are as Americans.
-
Excellent!!!
Not just for the 2A stance, although that is reason enough. This man is a Consitutionalist, and that will help get him elected.
Downrange Brothers and Sisters, watch his six. The Lamestream Media will go after him lock stock and barrel, try to destroy his credibility. WE have to call them out. Whenever a paper does a hit piece on him, get a letter to the editor ASAP denouncing the article and the paper for running it. Use facts to counter their lies, host neighborhood gatherings, get the word out,
and let's get this man elected!

The famous Casa D' Ice billboards:

They kinda tell it like it is..

I actually love 'em.. I would probably wreck my truck trying to read the signs all the time. :D

He's got my vote too. Now he just needs to stick to his core principles and not back down!
-
I've been just waiting for Fred to declare. He had my vote from the day he said he was considering it. Now my wife and I are very happy, we have someone to stand up with.
-
Every candidate, should be a constitutionalist, afterall they take the oath to protect the constitution of the United States of America ! Not just the parts they agree with!

He already has my vote.... ;D
You can add my name to the Fred Thompson vote list!

Running a campaign nowadays ain't cheap. It seems like the anti-gunners like Hillary and Osama Obama are very good at getting the money to run a campaign. I'd urge gun owners to open their wallets and donate what they can to Fred. I'm not a rich guy but I've sent him a couple of hundred so far. I'd suggest the price of a firearm because it will be a different (gun) world if any of the Dems get elected.

Fred has my vote as well. His strong 2nd Amendment position and strict Constitutionalist stance makes him the best candidate IMHO.
-
Fred is the clear cut choice imo.

I started out with high expectations for Fred. After several weeks I have to say that I am severely disappointed. He has not shown the magic that will attract folks to him. Seems to lack something when he is speaking to audiences. If you watched his couple of minutes at the Washington DC NRA seminar it was really sad actually. Mike Huckabee outclassed him by a country mile. The mainstream media is having a feeding frenzy with this issue and Fred. That will only help spiral him in to a crash. Trust me, I was hoping Fred would "be the one" to quote the Matrix. I actually dug down deep in my pocket early on. After Mike H. spoke at the NRA I sent him some guilders...Either way I have a sad feeling the Republicans are self destructing and Hillary looks more and more like a shoe in.
-
The MSM will bash him no matter what. I don't need a raz-ma-taz side show to get me to vote. I want a sober and serious adult. Fred is just that.
-
Well..if we were on the back of my pick up tailgate havin' a beer, and if I was REALLY speaking honestly ( like most everyone does when they drink beer.. ::) ).............................................................................................. ::)
I would have to say that although I will vote for Fred ( because of his 2nd amendment policy) and becasue I think he has the best chance to win the Republican vote...
I actually like Mike Huckabee the best. He has the values that I have.. I like his passion and the fire under his ass on the issues, and he not only supports the 2nd amendment, he has the sentimental personal experience that goes with it. ( owning his own guns and those handed down to him.. shooting and hunting all his life and wanting his children to be able to grow up carrying guns ) are just a few of the things I like about the man.
Now then...Anyone want another beer? I'm gettin' in the cooler to get myself one.. ;D

Fred is the one and only " MAN " for the job . Hand me a beer ;D

All you have to do is check out Huckabee's website, and you will see exactly where he stands with the second amendment.

No offense, but that "sentimental personal experience" thing is one of the things that makes Huckabee grating to me. Initially I too was seduced by his colloquialisms and folksy stories - but in too many circumstances he used sayings like "You break it, you fix it" to frame the issue as "common sense" when in fact the issue and what is at stake is too much to trust in blindly following a cute (but understandable) saying.
As to the concept of voting for someone who doesn't necessarily meld with your opinions because of the preconceived notion of electability is just playing into the hands of the political institution. If it weren't for the media telling us who has the best chance we would do our job as patriots and vote for OUR candidate, and let OUR desires for the way the country should head influence our vote, not some popular but imperfect (for us) candidate.
