Title: America!
Post by: Timothy on November 25, 2018, 01:11:19 PM
Just had a pair of Bald Eagles land on the ice about 500 feet offshore of the house.

Gotta get a better camera!

Ice? It just dropped to 36 degrees at 12:30 AM, but it's going to keep dropping. It rained a little bit but will start snowing soon. There's a winter weather advisory and they're saying 5-8" by 3:00 PM. And 25-30 MPH gusts. Time to get out the shovel for the first time of the season. >:( I've very rarely seen eagles, and nowhere near here. I saw one 105 miles away hovering around St. Helen where Charlton Heston spent 10 years as a child.

Yes!  Ice!  A friend from SW Minnesota, our old home, just sent a photo of ice fishing on Saturday afternoon.  Not enough to drive on or even put a shelter on, but good for walking.

This winter storm wasn't half as bad as I expected. I cleaned a few inches of snow off of my truck and trailer a while ago. The snow in my driveway was slushy on the bottom and the sidewalk barely had any snow on it by the time the sun quit shining, but it was icy. If anyone wants to go ice fishing they need to wait, then head farther north.

P.S. There's something wrong with me. Yesterday and again today, when I saw the title of the thread I heard the song “America, F*** Yeah” from the movie Team America: World Police inside my head.

It’s about the National Birdy!

Ice is secondary!  Geez...

I’ve seen 5 or 6 Bald Eagles in my lifetime having traveled to 44 or 45 states in the lower 48!  Nearly all were in New England!

I have a breeding pair in my front yard!!!!!!!

I think that’s f@‘king cool!

I haven't seen ice or eagles lately so both were a surprise to me. And I've never seen a breeding pair of bald eagles, on ice or elsewhere. Having them right there is amazing.

Nice.  We have a couple fly around here in the spring.  They are a joy to watch.
