You need a boat.

Probably just a fishing kayak.

Too many bs regulations as soon as you want even a trolling motor...

Jealous is the right word!  That's a super place.

I used to slay them back home with that Storm Thinfin Shad in green.

What color on the Chug Bug?

Baby bass

Edit...  I just checked, I have about nine different patterns in that lure.  Some are pretty beat up...  gonna try that thinfin shad though.

I feel your pain, Timothy!!

It has to be hell living 60 ft from a 400 acre fishing hole....and I imagine you have to be missing all the traffic noise by now....Probably have to drive a few miles before you can get to the closest traffic congestion...

I know it's tough, but hang in there...it will become easier as you get used to it.

WOW!!

Nope, not Tahoe!

I did enjoy the skiing but Tahoe is still California.  I said goodbye in ‘79...

You cotten pickin' world travelers.  I'd like to see Tahoe some day....not much time left I better get it done in the next several years.  Here, I'm left to Oklahoma-Texas-Arkansas-Louisiana pretty much.  We ain't got no Tahoe's here..   :-\  But it ain't bad.

Again, that is one nice place Tim.  Sweet.  Make that one stick and good luck finding a Thinfin....the last one's I got were NOS from eBay.

Me too, Rastus.
I was born in Mineral County, NV when my dad was in the USAF and stationed in Nye County. When I was six months old he was transferred to SC before being discharged and returning to GA. He and mom went back on a cross-country trip to visit a cousin in CA, but I've never taken the time to go. It's on the long-term list.

I’ve seen 44 or so of the lower 48 over my lifetime.  Turned legal (booze) in three states and two countries between 18 and 21!

Still pine for the “Mitten”!

Sweet looking place Timothy. I'm glad to see you finally made it out of mASSACHUSETTS. That's on my list of Top 10 States To Never Visit. You're welcome back to Michigan anytime. We'll leave a lighthouse on for you. ;)

Panfish:

Definition: Any fish that fits in a frying pan.

Example: Bluegill.

I remember my dad and I cleaning and gutting fish when I was a kid. The perch weren't bad, but one bluegill smelled like crap when I cut it open.

This end of the lake is pretty sparsely populated.  There are about 100 homes on this 200 acre section.  Nine on my street.

How many of the 100 or so homes are lake front property?   Just to get a better "image" of the neighborhood.

Your place does look Idyllic.

There are a few hundred homes total, lakefront and a “view”.

Idyllic views and 150 ft of sea wall frontage but the house is only 700 sq ft on about 1/3 acre.

Do a satellite shot of the reservoir and you’ll see we’re in the “sticks” for a northern CT location.  I lived in CT for twenty years and didn’t know this pond existed until I found this house.

We weren’t looking for lakefront but we got lucky..  the owner just gutted the house and rebuilt literally everything!

Har. Har.  I had forgotten that.  Old Hazcat...he really brought some life to this board.

Now, as for that nasty toe of yours...I had to snip it out....   :o

I got some new digs too...as of last Friday.  No water, no bikinis...not a lot of people either:  https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lost+Corner,+AR+72080/@35.5677932,-92.8380811,947m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x87cdc0e1387d786d:0x1915b3532a93ea9c!8m2!3d35.5717459!4d-92.8340563 (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lost+Corner,+AR+72080/@35.5677932,-92.8380811,947m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x87cdc0e1387d786d:0x1915b3532a93ea9c!8m2!3d35.5717459!4d-92.8340563)

No new digs for me, but if you go to this address and zoom in all the way you can see on the satellite view a place I used to pass by. It's on a two track road on the way in to the family cabin in Northern Michigan (capital "N", way, way up north). The regular shapes on the ground are the remains of foundations from an old CCC camp built in 1933, the first one in Michigan. It took me a few decades to find out German POWs were held there during WWII. The cabin is 5 miles or so farther down the road but I can't see it anywhere. The culvert was torn out and replaced by a bridge. Then the bridge was torn out and I'm not sure exactly where the new road in starts.

Perch Chug Bug...

The crappie hit it pretty hard.  The little largemouth just kinda sucked in and foul hooked itself!

I'm waiting to see a big fat walleye frying up.

Walleye are very, very rare up here.  The locals won’t eat panfish and walleye are scarce or extinct.

Bluegill, crappie, yellow perch, large mouth bass, pickerel, pike and the occasional bullhead make up these upland ponds.

Good small mouth in some lakes and streams.  Biggest bucketmouth I’ve caught in NE was over nine lbs, smallies to about four.  Crappie state record is about four lbs I think.

9 lbs....beats me by 3-1/2 lbs.

Beats me by over 9 lbs.

It's been so long I'm not completely sure what this one fish I caught looked like but I think it was a walleye. My dad and I were out in a little 12' aluminum boat and I caught a beauty of a fish. We put in in a collapsible metal basket with a spring-loaded lid. It was hanging over the side of the boat tied to a stringer and we forgot to pull it in when we moved. The water forced the lid open and my fish swam away before we got the basket in the boat. I never caught another fish like that in my life. I've caught perch, bluegills, pumpkinseeds too I think, suckers, and at least one bullhead. I remember a bullhead swallowing my hook so deep I couldn't even get it out with a long plastic-handled hook disgorger. There are rainbow trout in the creek downhill of my brothers' cabin but I never fished it. I wasn't a good fisherman but I was the only one in my family who ever caught a redhorse sucker. The fins and tail were pink, or was it red? They aren't called pinkhorses.

When I was a kid sometimes we'd ride our bikes a few miles over to the dam and catch carp. My friends' mom fried some up with butter and lemon, and fed them to her cat/s. I don't think any of us ever ate a carp. I know I didn't. One day we were throwing carp on the road over the dam and watching cars run them over. Cheap entertainment right there, especially when a bus drives by. One guy saw the carp on the road and did a burnout on one. Skinned it instantly. If there are any rednecks here thinking about jacking up your car and sliding fish down a ramp to skin them, do me a favor. Get video of it.

A few decent bass fell for a Colorado bladed spinner bait and then “WHAM” something (northern pike) hit it on the drop!

Sizable fish but couldn’t get a good hook set and he/she spit it back and gurgled a defiant fishy laugh...

From the looks of the head the came up it was in the neighborhood of 30” I guess!
