Title: Mike Seeklander Introduction
Post by: Mike Seeklander on May 20, 2011, 11:11:42 AM
Hello forum members,

I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself to the community here in The Best Defense forums.  I have been graciously given the opportunity and guidance to serve as the new "Firearms Instructor" for the show starting in late 2011/early 2012.  First and foremost, thanks to Michael Bane for this opportunity and Rob Pincus for his generous guidance over the years in T.V. land.  Also, thanks to my co-host Mike Janich for giving me support in this venture.  Mike J. is one of the nicest and most skilled warriors I have ever met, I really look forward to training and filming with him!

A bit about me:  While you can read my official Bio on my website www.shooting-performance.com or www.usshootingacademy.com, I wanted to give you a more personalized introduction.  First and foremost I am a shooter, fighter, trainer, and gun enthusiast just like you.  I have spent most of the last 10 years teaching full time, as well as managing different segments of the industry from law enforcement training to private training.  More importantly, I want you to know that my passion is training and teaching.  I absolutely love to train (shooting, fighting, and anything related), and can not be more excited to pass on what I have learned to the viewers of The Best Defense.  I truly believe that "training is the way" for anyone who seriously wants to protect themselves during a violent encounter.

I also want you to know that I am also the guy who has had to work for any skillset I possess.  I am not a natural athlete or someone who picks up skills with little or no work.  I believe in and promote logical, systematic training concepts that will allow the end user to perform to their abilities.  I work hard for my skill, and I know most of you will have to also, simply because most of us are not gifted athletes.  We are the working adult that has limited time and resources, and we have to find ways to develop skills that will keep us safe.

This mentality is what I hope to bring to The Best Defense in an effort to give you everything I possibly can to help you learn more about the many facets of self-defense (specifically the firearm portions and integration with combatives).  I am open minded and logical and believe in a progressive thought process where I will constantly strive to find an improvement or better way, which I pass to you in any way I can to ensure that you, the end user, get what you need to be successful!

I look forward to meeting some of you and hearing your comments, ideas, and feedback and promise to work hard to help make The Best Defense the best show on T.V., carrying on Rob's legacy and hopefully facilitating the evolution of the show and firearms training.

Until Then-Train Hard!

Mike - Welcome!  I look forward to hearing your thoughts on things.

I am impressed with your One-handed Survival shooting.

It is well thought out, practical and innovative!!

It has become part of my standard practice routine.
