Well, the Republicans have the ball in their court.
Now we see what they are made of.
Every Democrat Senator who voted for Obamacare no longer holds office and Republicans have a historic majority in the House.
There is no reason they cannot repeal Obamacare....unless they don't want to.
Every Republican elected to the Senate campaigned to repeal Obamacare.
So, number one on their "To Do List" is:
1. Repeal Obamacare. No matter what it takes. No excuses. Defund it if necessary and let the government shut down for as long as it takes. The less they do the better we are anyway.
1.5 Forgot this. NO Supreme Court Appointments will be approved under the current Executive Administration unless they are a strong constitutional candidate. The Court can twiddle their thumbs for the next two years if needed.
2. Fire anyone in the DOJ and BATFE who has been involved in initiating or covering up Operation Fast and Furious. If they even hesitate to for a moment to spill all the beans or say they can't find them anymore, out they go..no exceptions. Out and prosecuted if they can be indited...but out regardless.
3. Abolish the IRS. Oh wait...we just elected Republicans, not Libertarians. So, same as Fast and Furious. Out with anyone and everyone involved in the the Email fiasco.... from the management of IS dept. to any managers/staff who were aware of the operation...and if they weren't aware of it but it was their job to be aware of what was going on there, they are out too. Out and prosecuted if they can be indited...but out regardless.
4. Operation Choke Point - same as 2 and 3 above...anyone involved is out and prosecuted if they can be indited...but out regardless.
5. The debt stops growing and any non-constitutional expenditures are stopped. There will be an unemployment glut, and if government employees are covered by Unemployment funds, they get all they are entitled to. There will be a lot of folks who will be left with no Welfare/Food Stamp money. The money that would have been used there will be returned to the state/county/municipal tax centers from which it was received. It will be earmarked to be distributed to local charities to help the needy and not so needy in the transition which will last no longer than unemployment benefits do. Any excess budgeted funds what would be received from taxation for the discontinued programs will reduce incoming taxes by one half the amount saved and the other half will go to reducing the debt. If the reduced taxes don't produce the growth in the local communities needed to fill the unemployment/welfare gap, it will have to be funded by voluntary contributions to local charities.
Will it be easy? No. It has been way too easy for decades and that has gotten us to were we are not.
6, etc. many many things to do. Repeal 2A and any other Rights infringements along with most anything with Obama's signature on it and impeaching Obama for comedy relief.
There...what did I miss and what did I get wrong?? :D

You have a good list here. I am not trying to be pessimistic but I don't think you'll see any of it happen. I expect will see what we got from the republicans the last time they the majority. They aren't going to do anything to rock the boat too much. It will just be a bunch of games so they try to win the next presidential election.
What I fear is that Obama will step up his unconstitutional behavior but the republicans will do nothing but continue to just whine and complain.

Where they get to save money in some areas - they need to stop the cuts in our Armed Forces, fund them as I believe we will need them again in short order. China and N Korea are saber rattleing again and a build up in the Pacific is what we may have to do.
possibily, a military base in 1 of the Baltic States may be needed/wanted in that area. So @ 20,000 Soldiers and Airmen may be posted as a deterrant there.
Some already established bases around the world can be downsized ( not closed ) and held in a state of rediness if needed by rapidly deployed forces in a crisis.
if need be, national Guard units be assigned areas and trained for those areas in a crisis.

I have to agree. That is why I posted the list.
The list is what they have said they would do if they were in control. Now they are in control. If it does not get done, especially #1, repealing Obamacare, it will clearly be because they do not want to repeal it.
They will be shown as the other half of the political tag-team, coming into the ring after the Democrats have advanced the Socialist agenda and taken a beating for it.
In the Republicans hop, strutting and posturing, but undoing nothing...and only slowing the hand basket down a bit....but giving voters the "feeling" they accomplished something by voting Republican.
I would like to be wrong, but I don't have high hopes. We shall see.

The Armed Forces is one of the areas they are Constitutionally directed to fund. Cuts there should happen last, if at all. What does need to be done is cut waste and corruption. Interpret any corruption and misuse of the funds allocated to the Dept. of Defense as aiding and abetting the enemies of the United States and diminishing our capability to oppose those enemies and protect the Constitution, Country and Citizens.
Hang every one of them.

Every one of the Republicans who got elected GOV ran on an anti Obama care platform, and most of the Senate candidates did as well, so that may actually happen.
Prosecutions in "Fast and Furious" IRS, and Benghazi would all be real nice, but the #1 top priority to address multiple problems at once is immigration. Close the border, deport the illegals already here, and cut off all benefits to non Citizens (and LEGAL residents) That lowers spending, lowers crime increases employment, and therefore increases tax revenue.

I forgot to talk about Immigration.
A deadline will be given for anyone in the US illegally to report to an immigration station to arrange for deportation back to their home country.
If, for some reason, your home country is unavailable for relocation, you will be sent to a "refugee camp" outside the US..Gitmo, for example.
Once in your home country or the "refugee camp" you can follow the current procedures to apply for legal immigration. You will be follow the same procedure as any one applying from your home country.
If you are found here illegally after the deadline for turning yourself in, you will be deported to your home country or the refugee camp with and be forbidden to apply for immigration.
Anyone found here illegally after being once deported will be guilty of a capital offense and executed.
You will be provided hand tools and supplies for farming and pigs and chickens for livestock.
You will not be in a security area, so if you wish to wander off, you can. Good luck with the Cubans.
If you choose, you may remain in the refugee camp for the rest of your life.
Any one born in the camp will be eligible to apply for immigration as per the procedures put in place for that group.
Also, you will need to provide your own security/government.
However, you will not receive any further supplies after the initial issue, so learn how to repair and preserve what you are given.
Any medical services or additional supplies will be supplied by voluntary donations by what ever individuals/organizations choose to do so.
While children born on US soil are generally considered to be citizens, this in untenable and they will be treated as anyone being here illegally.
They will, however, be given some preferential treatment.
After arriving at their home country or refugee camp, they can apply for immigration as would anyone in that location.
Once they have been approved for immigration, meeting all the required criteria, they can, when they arrive in the US, apply for citizenship.
If their application contains proof of having been born in the US, they will immediately be considered as meeting all the requirements for citizenship

While the Republicans won big, they do mot have enough to overturn a Veto. Expect to see lots of those and only a smattering or hint of anything passed.

Got some news for you about your "Refugee camp".
It was tried with free Blacks in the early 1800's, look up the history of Liberia. ;D

Well, this isn't an attempt to make the camp a wonderful place to live.
We can't push illegals into Mexico or Canada if they are not citizens there and it would be frowned upon to push them into either ocean or the gulf, so they get the refugee camp or their home country.
The point is to show that it does not pay to enter the US illegally and it destroys any changes of ever entering legally after that.
And to keep folks from repeatedly coming back for whatever benefits they get here till they get caught again you face the death penalty for a second offense.
The kids born here to illegal aliens get a little bit of a break, but not on immigration...they have to go through channels, get accepted and get here. Then they get the break on becoming citizens.
This is all to get the message out that if you want to come here, do it right.
Now, if there are changes we should make to our immigration policy, that is a different issue that should be addressed by the legislature, not by opening the borders.

While both houses of Congress have increased their number of responsible adults too many have an R after their name because that is where the opening was for that seat in Congress! You can not trust them to put their constituents interests first and some don't listen at all. Just look at John McCain, if being a conservative was a crime there would not be enough evidence to convict him!
There was a time when anyone born in this country was expected to be a Citizen of their Parents Country and the Hospitals would issue a certificate to be taken to the Embassy of the Foreign National.

Let's be a little more specific about "securing the border", shall we? A Super Wall has to be built from the Gulf Coast at Brownsville, all the way to the Pacific Coast south of San Diego. It should be built from reinforced concrete and steel no less than 35 feet high. Topped with razor wire the entire length. It should be built at least 50 feet on our side of the border. Thereby creating a 50 foot no mans land that could be mined on both sides. The entire length should be lighted at night. Bright enough to define the border from the International Space Station. And it should have full security cameras, with infra red and thermal capabilities. All with zoom lenses of course. If I can afford to put cameras in my house and property, the government can afford to do it on our southern border.
This entire project, much like Trump has suggested, should be funded by tariffs, along with tax penalties from companies who manufacture abroad, anything that was once made here by U.S. workers. (Carrier Air Conditioning should lead by example), by writing the first check that Trump should receive, and show in a press conference at a White House ceremony in the Rose Garden. Trump should give monthly news conferences showing progress on this wall, complete with video and interviews from construction foreman. And contracts with concrete mixing plants all along the wall should be established both during, and after the wall is finished, in order to quickly fill any tunnels that might be attempted, in a matter of hours.
The Border Patrol should be increased 3 fold over what it is now. All agents should be equipped with the most modern small arms available, and plenty of ammunition. Their green and white SUV's should all be sold off and replaced with armored Humvee's, equipped with mounted .50 BMG's. Trump should issue a public statement, if ANY construction worker is put in harms way by Mexicans at the border, (protesters or otherwise), they will be SHOT ON SIGHT. When completed, a National "American Security Holiday" should be established, and put on the Federal calendar. Honorary postage stamps should be issued by the U.S. Postal Service as well. They could install a section of gold plated razor wire to honor it's completion. Much like they did with the completion of the Trans Continental Railroad, with the Golden Spike Ceremony at Promontory Point, Utah.

You know, wall or no wall, what about patrolling the border with drones?
If we want less than lethal measure, might they be armed with some type of knock out gas?
Then you have the location of illegals who may just be sleeping till they get rounded up...
I know there still might be casualties from the gas, but that risk goes with the act of invading another country.

The Iron Curtain did not exist along the entire border between East and West. There were areas where you could walk across into the Other Germany unimpeded. Why didn't people stream across? The fear of death. You only need to make an example out of a handful of people to control the masses.
