Title: A Prayer Request
Post by: tt11758 on February 09, 2010, 10:11:18 AM
In times of trouble or discomfort we turn to our families for help.  Thus, I turn to you, my brothers and sisters of other mothers, whom I love dearly.

Please say a little prayer for me.  This afternoon at 2:20 p.m. (CST) I see my doctor.  In the past couple of days I've noticed that my right leg, ankle and foot, from the knee on down, are extremely swollen when compared to the left.  To be quite honest, this has me a little freaked out.  The things that flood my mind are the thoughts of clots, arterial blockage, etc.....things that could be potentially fatal.

Although I'm sure it's probably nothing, I would really appreciate your prayers, thoughts, positive energy, whatever, to lift me up and support me during the doctor visit.

Thank you so much for your love and support.  I feel blessed to have y'all a part of my life.

Tom

Based on the things we made at my last job, (medical devices ) both the things you mention are now easier to fix than they used to be.
You will be in my thoughts as I NEED my Veep  ;D

Thank y'all SO much!!  I'm just back from the doctor.  Although we still aren't sure what IS wrong, we know what is NOT.  It  is NOT a blood clot, or a blockage of any kind in my leg.  I know this because I spent half an hour laying on a table naked from the waist down except for my tidy whities, with some HOT looking young gal rubbing my leg....starting at my groin and working down.  I was thinking of fishing...........bowling........Hillary Clinton nekkid........whatever it took to ignore the sensations, if you get my drift.

Anyway, the stuff that could kill me quickly isn't the problem.  We're currently waiting on the results of the diabetes test, she has increased the dose of one med, and added another, and I go back to see her again in a week.

Just thought I'd keep you posted.

Who says the power of prayer doesn't work?

Glad things seem to be looking up for my Iowa "Neighbor"  Good luck with future appointments

That's good news for the first phase. A sigh and some easier breathing perhaps.  And good work maintaining a professional relationship during your testing procedures. =)

Hang in there for the followups.

Take care.

Great news Tom!  How's that for not letting on that you called me  ;)

Hope all things continue to go well, and I don't need any more mention of a nekked Hillary Clinton when I'm driving on ice!  By the way, anyone looking for a place to play hockey could sure use hwy 60 through our neck of the woods ... there are more cars in the ditches than the road, and the ambulances and fire trucks are not spending much time in the house these days.

Take care of yourself, and keep us informed!

What it is not , is often more important than what it is, good luck TT and keep letting us know. Many of us are at the age that nothing is discounted, but often ignored.

Boy, you sure know how to ruin a guys day!!!!!  HC nekked.  Wash my eyes out with soap.  LOL

Good news is good to hear.  Will continue to keep you and all our DR family and friends in my prayers.

God Bless,

Richard

PS:  I've heard of the power of positive thinking but HC nekked is the ultimate in reverse Psychology!

Just caught this thread...been away a day or so.......glad it was not serious.
I will still keep you in my prayers, pal.

*Certain medications can cause swelling and another big culprit can be the type of chair you sit in and the way you sit in it. I have that problem with certain types of computer chairs.

Thanks, y'all.  I have yet to hear back on the diabetes test results.  I'm assuming that it was negative, cuz one would THINK they'd call if it wasn't.  Anyway, I get to go back to the doc next Wednesday, and I'll update you afterward.

As promised, here is the update after the follow-up visit to the doctor.

Well, I made an incorrect assumption.  Just because they don't call you after the blood work is finished does NOT necessarily mean that everything is hunky-dory.  I do, in fact, have diabetes.  The news was something of a kick in the groin  after assuming that I was out of the woods, but it is what it is.  All we can do is play the hand we're dealt.  And it could've been worse.

So now Mrs. T and I have an appointment with the hospital's dietician next Wednesday morning, then get to attend diabetes classes on March 1st & 8th.

Now y'all are up to speed.  Time  will tell what the course of treatment will end up being, but whatever, the situation is what it is.

Thanks for your prayers and support.

Tom

On your way to being a" lean mean fighting machine"  ;D hope it's type 2. Either way you know now and can deal with it.

Best wishes and continued prayers!

Both my parents are diabetic and several good friends are too. The biggest thing is diligence in following the doctor's directions. It is something that can be controlled.

Thanks for the update, and many continued good wishes.

We, or at least I, had a lot of fun at your expense this afternoon.

Take care of yourself, do what the hot nurses ... and the ugly nurses say, and fill that prescription  ;)

Didn't expect me to stay serious too long did ya?

Will continue to remember you and Kathy, and I expect good reports when I check in next!

tt, at least they caught it and will be able to treat it!  The diet isn't so bad...my wife is diabetic and she prepares meals for her and not me so to speak.  They key, IMO, is moderation.

You and your family continue in my thoughts and prayers.

God Bless,

Richard

PS:  Probably the worst thing is NO MORE HAZARITAS!!!!!!!!!   LOL
