Folks!
Since downrange.tv is no longer updated and all of Michael's new "shenanigans" are available on his new website, we are in the process of moving the forum from DRTV to michaelbane.tv.
This is a rather complicated process which will take a couple of weeks.
First step is to upgrade the forum on this domain before copying it all over. This forum will remain open until we do the final transition. During the final transition, the forum will be closed for new posts or replies.
Login should be the same, but you might experience to be logged out after the forum has been moved. We will assist with any login problems.

As 'the book of face' gets increasingly anti-everything most of "us" stand for, I'd really like to see the forum build back up. Maybe a changeover like this along with some strategic advertisement, it could happen.

Actually, where I find everyone doesn't matter to me. I hope this brings life to the forum. Not that it isn't fun now, but we have become a pretty small group*.
*I blame Hazcat. I think it is his fault. If he hadn't left, we'd still be sitting around the pool, and 10,000 of us, dringing Hazaritas an failin in d pol.

The challenge with Internet presence compared to years ago is how to be "visible all over the place".
Social Media has changed the way we consume and communicate and it is scattered all over the place. While I personally have a love and hate relationship with Social Media, I can't ignore it. We are forced to be where people are. On the other hand and this is one of the reason we are moving the forum..... In our daily routine keep track of it all, merging "checkpoints" will make it easier for us to "drop by".
The most important reason is that we consider the DRTV Forum members our "initial family" and we have been ignoring it.

DRTV and MB.TV are on the same platform. Numerous sites all pro gun related have been a victim of this. It happens from time to time. What is rare is that this attacks happened twice in a week.
Security Engineers are looking at it to see if we can somehow stop it before it happens. Normally these type of attacks happen to bigger corporations where the intent is to prevent regular traffic to get access. Unfortunately small businesses like our don't have the juice to pay high cost security measurements.
What they attach is either domain names or IP # related to the domains. Down Range TV was also attacked twice this week, so no matter where we move the platform the bastards will follow us until they get tired and move on to other victims.

On Wed Apr 15 @ 6pm Central we finished upgrading the forum as part of the preparation to move it.
Layout has been changed and we will continue to work on it on the backend.
As of now I have no timeline on when the final move will happen, but I will give you a heads up when it gets closer.

Sitting here, watching what used to be Wednesday Night at the Range and looking over the formatting. No birthdays and no calendar. Fitting that the last birthday officially honored was Hazcat.

Been thinking about the Social Media comments and thoughts....
Quick thoughts are that those are for keeping in touch or keeping up with what ever...it is a useful tool to me..like a mailbox.

May I ask is it a Denial of service attack. Trying to hit the site with so much traffic it can't function?

Realized I haven't posted in well over 2 years. Was werking a lot at that time and it got worse. I was glad I was werking, but became the de facto stupidvisor and stupidintendent by default when the previous occupier of that position was vacated rather abruptly. I was the only one there with the level of professional certification qualified by state regulators to be recognized legally as "operator in charge". Required 60+ hours a week and married to my cell phone 24/7/365. We were shorthanded requiring me to operate a shift in addition to the administrative responsibilities. The organization had previously decided to eliminate the maintenance position, so had to deal with maintenance issues also. The plant was new and came online in 2011 with much of the equipment reaching the end of its life cycle about the time I took the reins. Lots of stuff breaking down. The organization was unable to find and hire a replacement superintendent. After 19 months I had enough of the stress and long days giving my notice of retirement. Very thankful I'm not dealing with all those troubles given the current situation.
Since then I've dumped my cell phone mistress that was tethered to me 24/7/365. Don't miss that constant witch. I also become a grandfather a couple more times. I've done a whole lot of nothing since retiring. It took me about 6 months just to unwind and start to feel like I had a life when about that time the corona thing hit. Turning into a hermit and starting to look like Rip Van Winkle.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.
Don't get me wrong, I believe we need to take this pandemic seriously, but many of executive orders seem arbitrary and don't make much sense to this ole geezer. She said it was safer to buy lottery tickets than it is to buy garden seeds. You can go to a dispensary and buy recreational pot, but you can't buy paint at some stores, but you can at other stores. You can canoe, kayak, or go out in a sailboat, but you can't go fishing in your 12 foot motor boat. You can mow your own lawn, but if you own a rental property, you can't mow that property. In my opinion she has not communicated well in the why of her decisions other than a general "its not safe" statement. Current stay home orders expire May 1st and I think that no mater what revisions she announces then if any, she will have greater decent and possible rebellion.

Correct. It has increased over the last 3 weeks and we're now moving all of our domains behind a different firewall to see if we can get a better control over this. It is a slow process since we also have to move all the files to a different location while cross checking that all functions are working throughout the transition.

Hi, Wolfe. It's been a long time. You're always welcome back, but if you don't start posting at least once a year, you might get your Ranger status revoked. ;) And you can just ignore that crazy witch of a governor. I mostly do. I've probably read 1-5% of what she's written and listened to 0% of what she's said. And I found out a few days ago that our mayor put the whole city under curfew at some point, I don't know when. I think everyone is supposed to stay off the streets from 9:00 pm until who the f*** knows when in the morning. Maybe he thinks the virus only comes out at night like a vampire. The experts say it comes from bats, you know.

Forum activity seems to be picking up, which is good.
Some have asked offline when the final move will happen. As of now I would guess...... some time in May. We're also moving everything behind a new firewall which has to happen first.
In the meantime we will continue to streamline the forum, making it more compact and prepped for a new environment.
One thing you will notice from today is that you no longer receive the content of new replies in your email notifications. It is part of the process of making the forum faster.

The last time we moved it took a 48' trailer for what we took with us, and a small U-Haul trailer for the "toys". I explained in a very firm and fatherly manor that the next time I move it will be in the back of a station wagon and the material items belong to her and her brother.

I don't have to reset my passwords very often. I have the free version of Blur, formerly known as DoNotTrackMe, from Abine. It helps me remember the 135-140 different passwords I have at the moment. Most of them are 25 characters long and include uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. There's no way I could remember them and I don't have any passwords written down anywhere. The passwords are kept on my computer so they don't even know what they are, and they encrypt everything when they fill in forms for me. I only have to remember passwords to sign in to my computers and Blur.
