Title: age old question g17 or g19
Post by: garand4life on January 18, 2012, 03:09:50 PM
I'm debating between buying another Gen 4  glock 19 or picking up a Gen 4 g17. I had the 19 before and loved it but usually carry my 229 e2. Anyone want to try to sway me either way. I wouldn't mind either and would be equally happy. Neither one really is a must but I am getting one of the two tomorrow and the fit and feel between the 2 is perfect for me. I just need a little push to make it easier to decide.

How will you carry it ?
If IWB barrel length is irrelevant so it would be personal preference.
If OWB go for the 19 since it is shorter.

I've carried both with know problem in the past. I think I just need some one to smack me in to making a decision.

Can't go wrong with either since it is a Glock!  8)

As Tom mentioned, depends on what you want to use it for.  I have owned two G17's and would love to own another and a G19. I have been spoiled carrying a G30SF and keeping the G21SF at home.

G19

For one, the extra size of the G17 is generally not going to make you shoot better, but the size can be more to deal with IF you carry it.

Two, I recently traded to a G19 and I don't want feel like I made the wrong decision  ;D

Get the 19. It will do everything the 17 will do, and the reverse isn't true. I've owned both and liked them, but its easier to conceal the 19.

If my hand fit the finger grooves better it would be a no brainer...the 19 but the 17 just seems to fit better in my hand.  Local club mught start GSSF matches so I will need something to shoot.  Will probably get the 17 with the GSSF discount.  Wish Glock had the option of non fg grip...or the shooting organizations would allow removal of fg and still remain stock.

That's what I started out looking for but the only ones in my area right now are in .40 and I wanted to keep the 9mm this round. it's on my short list of guns I will be re-adding. Most likely I will go with the VTAC model after seeing it in person. B-E-A-utiful.

I did go with the 19 again. This time I am going to try not getting rid of a gun I like for a gun I think I'll like... fingers crossed...

both are good, to me it is about the carry needs. How will you carry it, how hard is it to conceal. If you are big or small, many i know carry full size because they can hide it.

Good deal Garand4life. Can't go wrong with the G19. Check out Hickock45 on youtube if you have not already.

Ellis4538, you may be able to find a lower that is an older generation without the finger grooves on Gunbroker, Glockmeister or some other site that sells Glock parts
