For those who don't remember, in the heyday of CNN, there was an anchor named Lynn Russell. She was bright, smart, easy on the eyes and a reserved deputy sheriff. A red-head not of small statue.

Seems some perp picked on the wrong women and her former Green Beret husband.
Ex-CNN anchor Lynne Russell and her marksman husband fought off a robber during a deadly motel shootout in New Mexico, according police and a friend.
Russell’s spouse, former Green Beret and investigative reporter Chuck De Caro, was hit three times during the gun battle but managed to kill the intruder. He reportedly underwent surgery on Wednesday and was expected to survive.

My all time top newslady fantasy. She also has a really nice low, smooth voice.
Two black belts too, I hear.

The correct outcome was achieved! Any word on the hubbies injuries?

A slight different account of the incident.

She was on one of the San Antonio stations for several years before she went to cnn. A great visual loss.

I believe the correct term is victim selection failure.

Occupational injury , can the robber get workman's comp ?

No, because he's dead.
Could be nominated for the Darwin award though.

I always liked her. I remember watching her every day when I first got cable TV back in the early 80's. Had no idea she was a gun woman. Good for her and her hubby.
