I'm in.

Already booked a hotel room for the show. I'll be cannonballing it up from SW Florida (in a Civic Hybrid, so it'll be a subsonic cannonball...), on Wednesday, so if anyone along the way needs a ride, drop me a note.

BTW, Kelly from the excellent "Ambulance Driver" blog has done a "Shooter Self-Care seminar before the last two NRA shows, and he's ruminating about another one on Thursday as well to teach us schomes about tourniquets and Celox and all that stuff.

Stay tuned.

Hope to meet a lot of you here since Louisville is in my back yard. No need to stay at a hotel. Looking forward to it. Telling the boss today I will be off during that Friday (May 20) so I can visit all 3 days.

I didn't realize I could do this until I read your Post, Brian. Got it done (I think), so we'll see.

And Mikey, it's only a 9 hour drive to Louisville from where you are. Come on down!   ;D

Did they give you an idea of when to expect them?  I haven't dealt with NRA convention, but many organizations I have been to prepare and send the credentials out in bulk to save time and money.

MICHAEL WILL BE BUYING THE BEER!!!

Lemme get through the filming of this terrorist attack later this week, and I'll get right on it. This year, ORGANIZATION! We'll ask you to send us a self-addressed stamped envelop and we will send you a wristband to get you in the venue.

In fact you can start doing that now:

Flying Dragon Ltd
P.O. Box 153
Masonville, CO 80541

THANKS!

No, they didn't say.  They'll probably be sending them out about a month ahead of time.  Still sucks to wait.  Sigh.

The NRAAM 2016 app is now available for Android.  I'm guessing for iPhone as well.  Still don't have show passes or my wrist band for Michael Buys the Maker's Mark, but I know where to find Andy's Leather, Cabot Guns, and Outdoor Channel.

No app for IOS that I can see, tried different search criteria. I went to the NRA Show site, and pulled down the floor plan and the attendees list. So, yeah, all of the above, plus a few others like Desert Tech, et al.

Still no response to my question as to which night for the MB fun and games.

BTW, there are maybe 15 distilleries around the Louisville area, including Woodford Reserve north of Versailles (pronounce it as it is written, not the snooty Frenchy way!  ;) ), the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort (also the state capital) which makes about 17 different bourbons and has a great behind the scenes tour. You can also try the Town Branch distillery here in Lexington, which also makes beer/ale stored in used bourbon barrels, called (appropriately) Kentucky Bourbon Ale.

Got your mouths watering yet? ? ? ? ?    ;D

Post by: BAC on April 01, 2016, 11:27:59 PM
I used to have to visit stores in the Louisville area regularly.  One day I decided to visit a distillery (Four Roses) and take the tour.  That's when I discovered the Bourbon Trail http://kybourbontrail.com/ (http://kybourbontrail.com/).  Got my passport and everything.  Decided I was going to visit a different distillery on every visit.  Got laid off before ever going back again. >:(

Called NRA, they promised to send them out, but really, for an Endowment member this is how they work? Lame!

I'll definitely be state side for the convention. I'm heading North from St. Pete Florida. I'll try to get TW in on the ride too, I know he's been to one before with his son. anyway, I I end up with space on the ride up I can pick someone up. let me know. now all I need to worry about is getting my 'Michael buys the beer!' wrist band as I am outside the country and have no way to send an SASE. see y'all there.

Got mine today too. It's lovely shade of green, so I guess I'm in for free beer!!!!!

On another note, called the NRA again, almost 2 weeks after they said they would resend my credentials. Turns out, there are NO credentials, just the neck strap/holder and a folding card. The card gets you in. Not clear, NRA!

Our wristbands arrived in the mail today. Pheww! I was sweating it as we leave on Wednesday for Louisville.

I'll see you folks on Saturday if not before!

ALL of the wristbands are yellow. I was trying to pay attention to opsec when I said green! Then MB said they were yellow, so . . .   ::)

Let's all meet at the Outdoor Channel booth (4015) at 9:30 Saturday. I'm in the process of making a "Pathfinder" name tag for my credentials hanger, since the NRA "didn't have time" to make name cards for us all. Or, that's the excuse they gave me anyhow!   >:(

See you all there. I'll be wearing a dark gray "Ham Radio 360" hat, so I should be recognizable (The Dayton Hamvention is this weekend too. Had to go with the item longest on the bucket list!)

Well, as one advised me a few months back, "A bird in the hand..."
We're across the river in Jeffersonville IN. Long ride but we're here..
Looking to show up tomorrow between 2 and 6 to register and get credentials. Wife wants to drive and I want to try out Uber. Either way, I'll be the one who looks out of place, as I generally do..
In the Red Section to watch that orange-faced P.T. Barnum primp for the wishful thinkers on-hand as they lay palm fronds before his a$$ as he passes by.. Note that we all have to disarm in his UUUUGE presence.. Whoopee..
Oh well.. The rest of it will more than make up for that part..

So I didn't get to go.  BUT WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR.   ATLANTA BABY!

Kevin and I did get to spend an hour at lunch as he passed through Monday.  Of course, being the techno nerds we are we didn't take any pictures.   (Psst.  If anyone asks it didn't happen.)   Great time catching up.

I may have to help Michael co-host the Saturday night, uh, Meet-And-Greet.  That's what is was, a meet and greet.

Well, I managed to miss meeting everyone Saturday. I got to the venue REALLY early Friday so I missed the parking lot drama.

Seriously, if you every get a chance to try bourbon barrel ale, go for it. I spent my time at the Beer Bash talking with some of my fellow bloggers and then had Paul Erhardt talk my ear off for awhile.

Here's a cool pic: Michael, Bill Wilson, Larry Vickers and Col. Boyd of SoF magazine. There's a lot of American gun history in this photo.

Alf's generosity amazes me. Thank you so much, man, I owe you at least a couple.

This is my first NRA AM in seven years, and after having been to SHOT a number of times, I can unequivocally state that unless you're running around making deals, you should go to the Annual Meeting instead of SHOT. Yes, there is more cool guy gear at SHOT and the scope of the show floor is easily double that of the NRA, but the NRA is better for meeting people and having a good time.

Next year, Hotlanta!
