Title: eotech owners HELP
Post by: fightingquaker13 on July 18, 2009, 05:00:10 AM
OK, thanks for you assistance in mounting my 512.A65. It sits very securely now. My question is this. If I mount it far enough forward to put on a rear buis, the front will touch the handguard of my AR. Will this effect accuracy?
Thanks

It should not especially if the screws on the mount are secure. But there should be room for both with a little space front, rear and in between. How long is your rail? And how long is the Eotech - is this the one that takes full AA batteries?

I have mine set pretty far forward but it doesn't actually touch the D-ring. It's hard to get a picture to show it. The relief notch on the sight makes it work just fine.

There's enough room on mine to get it all in there.

No, I don't think so, He seems to be asking so many questions in order to AVOID shooting himself in the foot.  ;D

Just showed the wife of the lady cop and the AR. Asked he what was wrong with this picture. She had no idea so I pointed out that the magazine was in backwards and she said, she thought thats was the way it went in. Must be a woman thing. ::)

I was going to comment on that picture before, but I honestly can't figure out how that is possible to do that with an AR mag. She would've had to completely cram, mash, and distort the mag in order to get it to stay there. The ridge that runs down the back spine of the mag has to fit into the matching slot in the mag well. So it can only be inserted the right way or possibly upside down.

Not completely sure what to make of that pic.

A woman always finds a way ::)

I can see it now.................

her bending over...................

balancing the mag precariously on the asphalt (maybe with it between her feet) and then setting the magwell onto the mag......

and then with all her weight.................

with one hand on the butt and the other on the handguard..................

and again with all her weight...........

until the thingy wouldn't go in any farther...............

and then it's 'guns up' and running boys.

Its only natural for a woman to do things ass backwards. Shit my girlfriend did that to my ar, she slammed the mag home very hard. As i type this she was looking over my should has just given me a verbal lashing for this reply. I do have to say one thing she now well versed on the use of the Ar platform.

Allright, I will admit it, I am a hypocrite. As I am a Southerner, and all Southerners understand that we should hold ourselves to impossible standards while failing miserably to uphold them, we have concluded that hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue. I have come off all feminist on this board, and meant it.However my senior year of college my world view was altered. I had just bought my first car with my own money, a 1990 Ford Ranger standard transmission no A/C, no radio, no commie gadgets, but mine for $5500 off the lot. I took my girl home to Fl. to meet the rents. Her father, may he rot in hell, had not taught her how to drive a standard. Now, understand, as a car guy, not teaching your son or daughter to use a manual transmission is one step below sending your kid to spend a weekend with MJ at Neverland. It was Christmas break, there was an ice storm and travel was slow. I got weary, and let my girl drive. The plan was that I'get it onto the interstate, pull onto the shoulder, and then all she had to do was accelerate upward through the gears. AHHH, fool that I was. This worked, until we we hit an exit. I indicated she should pull over and down shift. Scrape on the clutch, horrible sound, "Down Shift"! "Hit the Clutch!" I am"! No you're not!" Yes I am !" No, youre F'ing not!" (shudder, horrible smell). "Hit the clutch, let it coast!" "I am!" (More violent shudderes, smell of burnt rubber, wheel lock and grind to  halt). It seems my beloved was pressing the E brake rather than the the clutch and horsing the gears downward, out of any regard for the tach at 70 mph. New brake pads, new clutch, but she was really good in bed. :-\

How difficult was it to get the mag out?

1) that is not hypocrisy, that is "aiming for the stars and reaching the tree tops" It is also the reason that Christianity is based on FORGIVENESS .
2) No woman is good enough in bed to make up for THAT.   ;D

I took the upper off and took apart the mag and reinstalled the floor plate. I then took a rubber mallet and drove out the mag using an old cleaning rod. The mag was ruined but my Ar was just fine.
