Title: Police find small arsenal in Houston hotel room
Post by: Big Frank on December 31, 2017, 04:38:54 PM
Police reportedly find small arsenal, ammunition in downtown Houston hotel room. 1 rifle, 1 shotgun, 1 handgun, and some ammo. That's what is now considered by the media a small arsenal. By that definition I doubt anyone on here doesn't own at least an arsenal of guns. I have a few arsenals worth myself.

Sounds like anyone heading to a 3 gun match would meet those specifics.....

Heck, I met those specifics two weeks ago on an overnight Christmas shopping expedition.  ;D

And that's not even counting the backup guns in case the primary goes down!
Arsenal... ::)

That sounds kinda light for a trip to the mall.

I thought I was just prepared.  Now I find out I'm an arsenal.

Sheesh...

Dang...they would have pee'd down both legs if they would have stopped me driving to and from home for Christmas.  4 or 5 handguns and several rifles.

At the beach for a week.  An AR with 60 rds. A .357 with 50 rds. And a 9mm shield with 75rds.

Now if I were planning to do some shooting, there'd be at least 2 more guns and 250+ more rounds.

We may all have arsenals, but the media are all arseholes.

in 1995 we were returning from Fayetteville, NC from my first NC Tactical 3 gun Match (Kyle Lamb's)... my friend Mikey is a big guy and likes to drive with one hand on the center of the steering wheel, and tends to wander across the lane a little... so we get pulled over by a South Carolina State Trooper...Mikey shows him his military ID ( SF LTC retired) and comes to find out that the Trooper was previously SF enlisted... so we are by the side of the road putting on an impromptu SHOT show, with two additional SC Trooper showing up with the Troopers getting their first look at 4x32 ACOG and my holographic sight...short barreled Benelli and 1100, couple of custom 1911s....and a bazillion rounds of 5.56, 12ga, and .45... we didn't make the news, but the Troopers were shaking their heads a little

I know I am preaching to the choir but here goes anyway.

This crap really gets to me and it seems to be getting worse. Why is it, when listening to the news, no matter what the "crime" is, even when no crime is committed, they always have to bring up the number of firearms the "perp" has? (Redundant question) If someone is traveling between two sites and happens to have 200 firearms and is not in the act of committing a crime and is not a prohibited person what damn difference is it they have firearms with them?

I ALWAYS have at very least 2 firearms on me and at least one long gun (Pistol caliber carbine) and one shotgun in the car. Does that make me some sort of evil felon that needs to be publicly shamed for my actions?

Like a lot of us here I am getting older and my tolerance for stupidity from these nitwits is decreasing exponentially.

RANT MODE------- off

Rant away. You'll get no argument from me on the subject. A guy I worked with strangled his mother-in-law to death and the local news made a point of telling the public how many guns he had in his house. What !@#$%^&* difference did it make? He had a certain number of guns but didn't use any of them, so what's the point of everyone knowing? How many hands he had was relevant to the case. How many guns he owned was not.

That's what you get with stupidity and irrational fear. These media dolts feel that the mere presence of a firearm is an indication of some guilt, and that the owner is automatically up to no good.
In some of their feeble minds it was the guns that made the guy strangle his mom.

Yep. The guns must have had some sort of physic power over the weak minded individual that corrupted him to the DARK SIDE!

I get so tired of that crap!

Look at the public school system....  Biting a Pop Tart to resemble a gun or making a "gun" by pointing your fingers and any other  action remotely associated with firearms earns instant discipline...the only way they could improve on this conditioning is if they devised a way to administer severe electric shocks the instant someone had a gun related thougt.

I guess it depends upon your administration... I had a SOPMOD M4 Block I poster on my wall for three or four years... I got several favorable comments from parents during open house... around Sept 14, 2001 I received an e-mail from SSgt Kyle Lamb (SFOD-D) with the illustration of the eagle sharpening its talons... it remained on my wall until my retirement in 2009

Yep. They don't call it fake news for nothing. And when they don't fake it outright, they exaggerate. This story is what I refer to as non-news.

He had hand guns, didn't he?  And he used his hands  to strangle his mom, right?

You need to follow the logic here, buddy.

If he was a handyman with handguns they'd really throw the book at him. The guys name was Sam but some of us referred to him as Son of Sam even before he killed his mother-in-law. He was a bit odd. I heard she treated him very badly but don't think she deserved to die for it. His high school class may have voted him most likely to commit murder for all I know, but I never had a problem with him. Interestingly enough, he and another guy I worked with on the same line, who was also a murderer, both moved to the Grand Blanc, MI plant from  Chicago. From what I heard he caught his wife in bed with another woman and shot her with a handgun. Many of the guys at work remarked that if they were in his place they would have joined in for a 3-way or just watched, rather than kill her. I guess that's just not the Chicago way. Out of all the hundreds and hundreds of people who worked there (2,000?) the only 2 murderers I knew were from a group of I believe it was 40 people, who came from Chicago.
