Title: JAGER PRO guest hog hunters
Post by: Teresa Heilevang on December 02, 2009, 12:11:49 AM
JAGER PRO guest hog hunters shoot 22 Georgia boars with a DPMS Panther Arms .308 semi-automatic rifle at night with a thermal scope. They are hog hunting at night as a population control measure in the crop damaged fields of SW Georgia. They kill 600+ hogs annually performing thermal hog control for Georgia farmers. All hogs are processed and donated to local families and churches.
This is their "military and law enforcement only" model which is not available to the public. There are no thermal scopes on the civilian market which perform well enough for them to recommend. Most civilian 320x240 thermal scopes are manufactured with a pixal size of 53 microns. It takes a military-grade pixal size of 38 microns or better to use for hog or coyote hunting. They plan to offer a 320x240 resolution thermal scope to civilian hunters for hog and coyote control in early 2010.

Most of the shooting was in my neck of the woods (less than 50 miles). The guy running the company was a former USAMU member. These boys are shooters.
