He may not be the original but I'm sure the dead guy he is impersonating wouldn't mind.

Wish he were here today, he was not "PC" then.....and the sheeple in D.C. and those that voted for the "new crowd" will never understand what it takes to achieve victory.

I've heard the talking heads ask what "winning" in Iraq or Afghanistan means,.......

Maybe they need a refresher from a true American Warrior. When we used to go to war, it was Commanders like Patton that got the freakin' job done, Period...... Next Objective.....

"May God have mercy on my enemies...because I won't".
General Patton

Thanks for the link, lifted my spirits a bit.

Best of all time...

Coppola, in his documentary, took original transcripts, from Patton, and edited them together for the opening scene. For which he was fired....Seems Patton's anti PC attitude carried over into a movie, and Coppola suffered a job loss for it.

However, the words are literal and documented. Ike knew what unleashing Patton on Europe would get the Allies, Bradley as well.(which by the way was an absolute victory).. But the days of Patton, have fallen regrettably to politics. Patton knew this, and if reincarnation was his belief, he is now in the hearts of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and still kicking ass to this day.

Check out the Bob Hope snippet listed off to the side, from one of his early movies. Priceless!

In the interwar years Patton was one of the military thinkers along with Englands JFC Fuller, and Germany's Rommel and Guderian, who developed the theories that became modern armored warfare.
The theories of "Blitzkreig" or Combined arms "Lightning war" were not a strictly German development, but a culmination of international thinking by the men who would be the leaders in the next war. The difference was that the German High Command listened while the Allied leaders said "that's not how we did it last time".
Another example of the international nature of the development was the way Ernst Udet studied USMC dive bombing techniques being pioneered in the "Banana wars"  and integrated them into the armored thrust as flying artillery.

My uncle served with old blood and guts. He was the one that brought Rommel down. If it wasn't for him Montgomery would still be in the desert with his head in his south end.

You should quote the post you are commenting about.
While in a general way I know what you are saying, and agree with it, I have no freaking idea what this comment is related to.
Back on the original topic, I have to point out that Patton was a "Johnny come lately" in North Africa, Monty, (who I detest ) did in fact push Rommel from Egypt all the way across Libya into Tunisia before we ever landed. What actually beat Rommel was British control of the Mediterranean, which kept his supplies at a trickle.
