So Cal too. It's raining her down by the ocean, but when it clears up, we'll be able to see a lot of snow up in the mountains.

Surf and snowboard on the same day! ;D

I think Mark twain said it best.

"the coldest winter I ever experainced was a summer by the bay"

the up welling of the cold water from the deep ocean just of the coast makes the northern CA coast line very cold.

Is that 10 -15 degrees C?

We're going to get hammered here in MI and the great lakes area.  National weather service has been making statements about this since at least last Saturday a.m.  Rain, freezing rain, wintery mix, snow, high wind warnings, and throw in falling temperatures and lake effect snow towards the end for good measure.  Not looking forward to the cummute tonight thru Thursday.  Remember SNOW is a four letter word.

Here in OH we have been getting snow though not as much as MI. Starting to get a little cold. Took the kids out and let them go sleigh riding. Pelted them with snow balls to. I have to finish butchering my deer and hogs.

-40 F = -40 C. That's cold no matter where you're at.

When the temp drops below freezing the damn announcers tt feel the need to point out windchill  >:(  When it's 20 below I don't care if the wind is blowing or not ... It is just damn cold, and who cares if you freeze to death in 30 seconds or 45  :-\

It's like when I was in Arizona.  It was my birthday, and I was in the apartment rehydrating.  It was 125 and the wind was blowing sand under the back door.  I was talking to someone up north and they pointed out that it was "dry heat."  To which I replied "Have you ever stuck your head in a pre-heated oven?  That's dry heat too!"

I don't care where you are, hot is hot and dry is dry!  However, the older I gets the less I enjoy shoveling rain.

When it's cold, you can always put on something warmer.  When it's hot, sometimes you have no other relief....

I'll stay up north....besides, I rather freeze to death than die of thirst.....much betterer....

Well lets see it got up to a blazing 10 yesterday and yes that is fahrenheit, and with the wind chill it got down to about -20 last night.  Plus it's been snowing off and on since Sunday morning.  But the only thing that I don't like about the whole thing is all of the Californian imports we've gotten that don't know how to drive in the stuff. :P  You know it's bad when you are going 25mph on an interstate through a city of 60,000 people.

Out here, we call that the Central Artery, Interstate 93 in Boston, in the summer.....but it's more like 1,600,000 people..

Years ago, I was driving down 93 in August and the pedestrians were walking faster than I was driving.....that was the last time I went to Boston....1994 or 95...

In mid Michigan near Lake Michigan it is snowing and blowing and thundering right now.  Suppose to warm up to the mid 30s overnight, change to rain, then the wind is to get really bad, the temperature plummet, and the lake effect snow kick in.

Felt the need to move this up.  It is a house cleaning day today.  I'm not sure how much snow we have received, or how fast the wind is blowing, but I do know that it is 2 degrees, I can't get off the yard (the guy that rents the barn was here and plowed a strip through the yard, but the county and city plows aren't running), the dogs are in the house, and I am cleaning.

Twelve years since I quit teaching EMT, FireFighter and specialized rescue; seventeen years since farming was ended; and fifteen years since I gadgiated from kollage; and it is time to clean up some of the stuff that was still around.  We had been married four and a half years when we moved out here, it was five more years till the fire, and now it has been twenty years (twenty years in two weeks) since we moved into the new house and started collecting crap.  One of my uncles that went through a fire after us said that "everyone should have a fire every five years just to get rid of all the crap."

Will spend a little more time on this project, then I have a little family room cleaning before company this weekend, and the guns should get some attention yet today  ;D

Keep warm everyone!

We got about 8 inches of snow, with the wind chill -15

We got about 8 inches of slushy, wet, heavy, icey stuff which prompted me to dip into the hidey place where I'd stashed some cash for a new lever gun and maybe a .22 LR Savage and dropped 900 bucks on a new snow blower instead....

Remind me why I love the north!   :-\

Bought a compact Ariens this time, seems like a much better unit than the Troy Built I had a few years ago...all steel, heavy duty but not a monster.  Consumer Reports recommended it so I'll see how she runs.  Didn't have any trouble moving the heavy stuff...

I also gotta find a new hidey place.....the wifey snooped my hideout....

OK, I know it was only eight inches, on top of two inches from last week, and 50 mph winds to move it for us.  However, since we are in the early winter whining mode I will share ... Photo number two is from one cleaning of the lot and almost as much as we piled there all last winter.

That reminds me of Sault Sainte Marie (the Soo). They have a lot of snow and not a lot of places to plow it too, so they cart it off and dump it somewhere else.
