Title: "Public Enemies"
Post by: billt on December 09, 2009, 10:59:15 AM
It is out on DVD today, and Melanie just got back from shopping and picked up a copy. Has anyone seen it? I'm not big Johnny Depp fan, but I heard he was excellent as Dillinger, and the shooting sequences were well filmed. We'll watch it this afternoon, and I'll report back. For anyone interested, only $15.00 at Wal-Mart  Bill T.

Actually, Depp is a pretty good actor, he's funny in "Pirates of the Caribbean" aqnd very unfunny in "The Departed".

Depp was in "The Departed"?  I thought that was DeCaprio, Mark Walberg, Nicholson and Matt Damon?

I don't remember him in that movie and I only watched it the first time last year!

Had him confused with DiCaprio, watch "The Departed" then watch, "Blood Diamond" you will not believe its the same guy.

We just watched it. I would give it an OK. It opens great, then slides a little. It was factual. They showed the shootout in Little Bohemia, his capture in Tuscon, and subsequent escape from the Crown Point, Indiana jail with the wooden gun, along with the capture of Billie Frechette with him watching across the street, and the now famous ending at the Biograph Theatre in Chicago. The shootouts were all well done, but a little too much muzzle flash. Overall I'd give it a 7 out of 10. For some reason the sound was difficult to hear. I had to keep throttling the volume up and down to hear some of the dialogue. It sounded a bit muffled for some reason.  Bill T.

I really enjoyed the movie, but you all know why.....

I remember one scene where one of his gang fires the BAR at a cop car and kills the cop standing several feet on the other side. I thought it represented the awesome power of the BAR well.....

Somewhere in this country is a BAR my Grandfather brought back to Oakland, Ca, with favors and bribes to get it off ship, than to have it stolen in Avarado, TX. with two U.S. Gov't issued 1911's.  :(

One day it will turn into "winter" here, and I'll fire up the surround sound and look forward to watching it.

The wife's a big Depp fan and while I think he's close to a total failure as a father and maybe even as a human being, he's not a bad actor.  Really enjoy his Jack Sparrow character,  Public Enemies is a darn good flick.  Wife though it was too violent, but she thinks Bambi is too violent, too.  Pop a brew, pop some corn, and enjoy the movie. ;)

IMO Johhny Depp is one wierd dude. I don't agree with much that he says but he is on hell of an actor. I'm looking forward to seeing this movie.

I think your probably right. I try not to pay attention to what most actors say off the screen. Cause if I did I would never have any movies to watch. :( Most are way to liberal in their thinking. :P

The only reason I watched "Syriana" was to see George Clooney get tortured.
It wasn't worth it, all they did was pull out a couple fingernails  :(
