I second that! And is there something on there where we can tell the RNC to start kicking out the RINO's? I realize that this eliminates most of the the committee, but you don't win elections but being as softer, kinder version of socialism. >:(

You do win elections by getting a majority. That means winning moderates. The Dems learned that lesson the hard way when they went too far left. I think they might be about to learn it again, unless the GOP saves them by purging the moderates and putting up only folks who pass the Limbaugh smell test.

There is no point in being a separate party if you are not going to stick to your founding principles, people who do not agree with those principles should join a different party.
Compromising with idiots and traitors is what put the country in it's current messed up state.
The very premises on which the Democrat Party was founded have been proven wrong by history and common sense.

No condescion. These usely go out to previous donors. I gave to McCain in 2000. They wanted fifty as an entering bid. Hel, I gave $40 dollars to the National Wildlife Foundation and got a really cute stuffed blue footed booby as a Christmas present for my young cousin to go with it.

PS For all Grandfathers and Uncles of young kids out there, you can't beat this deal. You get a choice of like 50 stuffed anmals of endangered species, made by Gund so they're nice, and you can't find them in a toy store. You buy some land for habitat and get a unique gift. I don't like all their politics, but I think they come out on the plus side.

Yeah, yeah yeah..., that was funny though. :-[ Still, its a darned cute little beast and I have to admit that the whole two year old cousin thing is pretty cool too. I'm still debating whether the sixth or seventh birthday is the time for the Red Ryder. I was going to get him a toy drum set to annoy his very PC mother, but the dad is a music teacher and beat me to it. If you really want to piss off your nearest and dearest, FP (I think) makes a blanket like electric drum set. The kid hits the colored symbol and gets a drum sound that is loud! His dad may not be smart, but he does love that kid! ;D

I sent it back both times with NO RINOs written on it, get rid of the traitors Trent Lott and Lindsey Graham and that Steele must go as well if the want one of my $$'s. The lesser of two evils is still evil...and they sent me another.
In addition to money, they are patronizing us with questions to make us feel they are one of us to draw us into their RINO web. I've a friend who is well connected in the Beltway...he defended the Republicans up to a month or so ago....now he has thrown in the towel...a good sign.

Look, most of the country are RHINOS. Fiscally liberal and socially conservative. This pisses me off as a libertarian (socially liberal, and fiscally conservative) and it pisses off true conservatives and true socialists, but thats the way the land lies. Karl Marx was a terrible economist but a great political observer. He said "Men make history, but not in the circumstances of their own choosing". Most Americans agree with Graham (R-SC) or Webb(D-Va.). The job of any political movement is too convince them that they are wrong, not to convince itself that the American people REALLY believe in your position but just can't express it. That fallacy, born of hubris, denies the very basis of the market place we believe in. If there is a demand for a good, someone will provide it. If people aren't buying a good, either it is defective or it has been badly marketed and the seller needs to adapt. The same is true of political ideologies.

FQ, If what you say were really true people would not have risked jail this summer to voice their opposition to BO, The 9-12 protest would have fizzled like the "Million Mom" and Million Man" marches that didn't get half that many people, the estimates on the 9-12 protest range from over 1 million to over 2 million.
Besides,what the mob wants isn't relevant, for starters every single one of the policies espoused by liberals be they RINO's or openly Democrat, have been tried before and failed, as an example the "Stimulus bill " was the same thing FDR tried and his policies have been PROVEN to have lengthened the Depression they were meant to shorten, during the 90's when Japan's economy was in the crapper they tried 8 stimulus packages and the result was that things got worse after each one, the only thing they did was drive their national debt up to 50% of GDP.
Second, this is not a "Democracy" We have RULES on what Government can and can not do. One of them says that powers not SPECIFICLY granted to it are reserved for the states and the people, that means that it is no business of the Feds one way or the other.

To be fair, the "stimulus" was also pretty much the same thing that W. and Paulson tried. Beyond that, I pretty much agree, but you have to sell it. If people aren't buying, its not their fault, its yours. Try harder, try smarter, or go back to the drawing board. That's lesson number one for any company or political activist. Somethings take time to gell, you don't plan for the next election, but the next generation, sometimes you just need to market yourself better. Either way, don't blame the "sheeple", blame the shepards. Its why I don't like the religious right. Its made up of lazy and incompetetant preachers. They can't do their jobs on Sunday, so they want to sieze political power to MAKE me do the things they shoud be able to persuade me to do willingly, if they were doing their job right. The thing is Tom, that TR is the example of why I'm right (though I wish I wasn't) and you are wrong. He embodies fiscal liberalism (trust busting etc), social conservatism (the comstock laws and the codification of Jim Crow law), and a nationalistic FP. He was popular for a reason. The American public hasn't changed all that much in 100 years. Go forth and convince people who disagree with you, don't just preach to the amen chorus.

SELL IT ? (yes I'm yelling ) That broad in La. got $300 million for her vote on health care, the guy who held out got $3.5 BILLION in Exemptions from Medicare cuts, Ma. and Vt got half a BILLION EACH, if you used those type "marketing ploys" in the private sector you would go to jail, there are in fact guys from Boeing and a couple other Companies who DID go to prison and they were dealing with Governments. Half the mob trials in NY are for exactly the same type of behavior.
TR was popular for his FOREIGN POLICY, His domestic policy was the beginning of the down fall of America, He was the first to talk of socialist health care, and his intrusion into places Government had no authority made him one of the most hated men in the south.
Because of his stand on Jim Crow laws Some one asked very Liberal Woodrow Wilson why the Ground hog went back in his hole . Wilsons answer was that he was afraid Roosevelt would put a coon in his place if he was gone to long.
As for "Convincing the people", f-ck the people, When will you get it through your over educated head that in a Republic the LAW takes precedence over who screams the loudest. To quote one of My Platoon Sgt', "This ain't no f-cken Democracy" the Constitution is the "Law of the Land" and all politicians who violate that along with the "Activist Judges and SC Justices who let them get away with it should be killed, preferably by public hanging but I'm not fussy.
If Americans want to be like Europeans we should take a page from English history, 90 years after his death Oliver Cromwell was dug up and beheaded, Johnson and FDR should get the same treatment.

He was from Virginia, politics aside. TR was a coward on the issue (for probably the only time in his life). He failed to pull an Ike and send federal troops down South to remind my cousins of exactly who lost the war and tell them to suck it up and obey the 14th and 15th Ammendments to the Constitution or look at bayonets. This was the appropriate response. He wasn't man enough to take it.

TR was a child during the Civil War, his Father worked for Lincoln and TR met him at least once, more importantly he remembered the COST of the war that had ended only 40 years before he got the Nobel Peace Prize, in the Dakota's and during the Spanish war , many of the men he dealt with had SERVED on one side or the other, For example Gen Shafter, who commanded in Cuba had been a Union Gen. while his Cavalry Commander Gen Wheeler had gained his rank as a CONFEDERATE Gen.
TR was was not about to reignite that war, which is exactly what would have happened if he sent troops into the South to cram something down their throats.
The only reason Ike got away with it was because there weren't enough of the old timers left to start that kind of trouble
You will note that it took another 30 years to get indictments in the "Mississippi Burning" case.

The needless entry into WWI, the League of Nations and us endorsing, but not joining it (pick which was worse, but it was a disaster all around) that's not even to mention the Sedition Act of 1918 which makes the Patriot Act look like a fluffy bunny all tesify to that. Where we do part company is on Wilson "sitting on the sidelines" while segregation was codified. He approved of it. He could have fired those who supported it, but did not because he saw no reason to. The idea that we would have seen a second civil war had TR or Wilson manned up on the CONSTITUTIONAL question of the 14A and 15A is a joke. First, enforcing the Constitution isn't optional for the President, its the sum of the oath.Second, just like the Civil War, insurrection flourishes if its given air to breathe. Jackson threatend to hang Calhoun over nullification and Calhoun knew he was serious. Problem solved. Buchanan tolerated years of BS from SC trying to "compromise" without simply uttering Lincoln's words that the Union was indivisible and flown the flag. Had he done so, the war might have been prevented. Point being that Jim Crow was codified and enforced starting about 1895. Had TR sent a very strong signal that this would NOT be tolerated in just one of many egregious cases, it would have stopped. You and I agree that people are ruled by self interest and force. The North had a huge majority of both economic and military force. Southern elites, who were by no means stupid, realized this. Had they been presented with RESOLVE, they would not have made their father's mistakes. Yet an absense of will renders power moot. Its like giving a pacifist a gun, what's the point? TR did not display the necessary will and Wilson was cheering for the other side.

My point was not about Southerners who were still young enough to make the same mistake again, that was my point in mentioning Wheeler. Also, your argument makes it sound like TR had nothing else on his plate, at the same time you say he should have been suppressing the South, (with out whom he could forget reelection ) he also was negotiating the end of a war between Russia and Japan, preventing a German invasion of Venezuela, (And snipping off Panama, in the process ) Dealing with Raisuli in Morocco,Launching the "Great white Fleet" on their round the world cruise, authorizing the Naval air service, and introducing the Navy to the submarine, which he was the first President (possibly the ONLY sitting president ) to submerge in and getting the Panama Canal organized, authorized, and built.
This doesn't take into account his voracious appetite for reading and writing, letters, books, and various speeches, memo's and papers.
They was plenty busy with out pissing off half the nation.
There are only so many hours in the day and he used the crap out of them, besides the fact that he just did not have the votes in Congress to back up any action he may have wanted to take. The fact is that when it came to racial issues most of the country opposed him.
