... Yeah, right. Like I'm gonna tell you guys that! ;D
Its the Centurion model, and its just the small one (14 gun capacity)....... but its really all I need for probably the next 5-10 years. Got it at Lowes. They had it on sale for $100 off and then I got 10% off that too................... $283 out the door. The kids are getting to the age now where we got to lock up the long guns.... and hopefully it will at least slow down a burglar if it ever comes to that. Now I just got to get it up a flight of stairs and bolted down. Yikes..... that ought to be fun!

*YES! It has a BORING MECHANICAL LOCK! (Shout out - Michael Bane)
-
Be sure to bolt it down! Those models aren't to heavy and can be carted off by a couple of fair sized criminals!!

Bolts? No grenade taped to the bottom with a wire to the pin in the floor? You dissapoint me Eric. ;D

You'll find out who your friends really are when you ask for volunteers to get that beast up the stairs. ;D
-
I had one just like it for my first safe. I think I paid something like $350 for it in 97'. It was supposed to hold 11 long guns, I had something like 20 rifles + pistols when I finally up graded to 45 cu. ft model a couple years ago. 8) Be careful you don't out grow it to fast! ;) That would be a terrible thing, NOT ;D

'Glad ya'll came to the dinner, ya'll wanna help me take something upstairs while the wife's finishes cooking?' ;) Make sure you put them on the spot real good.

We did that when I was in grad school. Three of us rented this rat trap house. Before we moved in our stuff, we invited everyone we knew to a "theme party", the only thing we said was to dress grubby to befit our new home. What they didn't realize until they got there was that the "theme" was "paint our house". ;D About 20 people showed up. Given that we provided a keg and a smoked turkey as well as a bunch of rollers and paint buckets and brushes, the whole thing took about an hour. We then got sloshed and fat on turkey.
FQ13 who may be dumb, but not so dumb. ;D

That's like the Combination, not something you would advertise ;D
Good idea though ;D

250 lbs? I think my TV weighs more than that. Bolt that one down in the bedroom. When you outgrow it, it can stay there as the bedroom gunlocker with the "collectibles" in the big one in the basement.
Somebody tried to GIVE me a security firedoor one time and I was stupid enough to pass it up. I could have a WALK IN saferoom for the cost of a couple concrete walls in my basement. STUPID.

Your going to hurt yourself

Your going to hurt yourself
I hope so.... that means a week of professional grade pain killers and making the wifey wait on me hand and foot.....
"Sorry, honey.... I cant take out the trash... my back still hurts."

Speaking from experience Eric, a mover is cheaper than a doctor. During hurricane Jean, I put up storm shutters at my grand dad's, my great aunts and my moms house. All in 90 degree heat. At the end, I had a heat stroke and took a header off a ladder with a piece of 5/8" plywood. I suffered siezures and my back is still screwed up. Hire someone. Take that $100 you saved to do it and consider it money well spent.
FQ13 who realizes SD isn't just about guns, its about not doing stupid sh@t ;D
-
It took me and a buddy to hand carry mine empty up to a second story bed room! I can be done by yourself with a hand cart. I've done that to but only up and down a couple of stairs on the porch.
-
Get a buddy to help you. Why take a chance on hurting yourself or damaging your house? I helped a buddy move in a 600 lb safe last week and there were 4 of us. It was still a job.
-
I bought a "28 gun" safe. moved it with a regular hand truck. Wasn't too bad but I didn't have any stairs. ;)
What sucks is that it was already too small when I brought it in the house, I still need another one. I will not go any bigger, however. Get too big and they become too much of a PIA to move or get things out of. It is amazing how the gun you want to shoot is always in the back of the safe.
-
The one I got now weights a little over 1200lbs cost me $200 to have it delivered and installed where I wanted it by you very big guys (arms bigger around than my leg) was worth every penny and when I move I'm going to call them back to move it again!! ;D

Heat stroke, huh? That could explain a lot. ;D

Eric:
Dude, seriously, I'd worry less about screwing up your back than about having to have buggy washers cut off of your a-hole, if you're picking up what I'm laying down. ;D

No problem.....250 pounds with a refer dolly?
I helps to actually have a little ass behind it....you're not one of those scrawny little runts are you Eric?
;D

2 things your going to find out real soon.
1 its not big enough( I'm not sure any are)
2 your wife can fill it faster then you can.
-
I have the same model. Very nice safe to get started with and especially for me being in the apartment life. I don't have mine bolted down. (due to apt regs.) but if anyone can lift the thing then they are welcome to it. Lots and lots of............. sand bags. (Ya.. sand bags) in it keeping it firmly on the floor of my second story townhouse style apt. I'm kinda waiting for the day I get crushed beneth my gunsafe while walking to my kitchen below. Either way the gunsafe is definitely a quality piece for a reasonable price

over here if the safe is less than 330 Lbs then it must be bolted down or fixed to the structure of the house

Phil, I've said it once and I'll say it again, MOVE! Any of of us will sponsor you. Hell, we'll probably give you a years salary if you file for political asylum due to tyranical gun laws. ;D

For you, as an Aussie, I'd reccomend Tucson Az.. Climate wise, you won't even know you've moved, though there are mountains within an hours drive (90 degree desert to snow in 90 minutes, I've done it). Its a cool college town with a great beach (no ocean, but the beach is great ;D) and the food can't be beat. Gun laws? Don't shoot anybody that didn't need killing, beyond that you're good to go. ;D ;D ;D

And just for that I'm not going to mention that the best Mexican food (Sonoran, not Tex-Mex crap) is to be had on 4th street. Carne seca with red chile sauce or fresh fire roasted poblanos over blue corn enchilladas, or chile verde chimchangas, all world class and cheaper than dirt. Oops! I just did, should get out in the real world more. ;D
FQ13 who says go west young man (or east in your case, but still the point stands) A free AR courtesy of the board if you make the move, I guarantee it.

Somewhat OT, but FQ is absolutely right about Tex-Mex and the high quality Sonoran-style food available in Tucson. I'm headed to AZ for the annual pilgrimage to the aged parents' homestead. I'm a little worried about the anticipated weight-gain, but that's what New Year's Resolutions are for. The REAL Mexican food available throughout AZ is maybe the best in the world. Cooked by genuine Mexicans using better quality USA ingredients. What a combintion.
On our Aussie's new place of residence--Adelaide is cooler and much wetter than Tucson. And, they call it the City of Churches. Tucson is a University Town and would be more accurately called Sin City. And, it's hot for most of the year. Yeah, it's a "dry heat" but so's your oven. Would note though that on last year's trip we hit a little snow coming into Tucsonin mid-December. Not enough to stick, but enough to make my hands cold even with my pigskin gloves on. He might like Flagstaff better--except for the "near the water" part.

If you've read many of Phils posts you KNOW he's probably safer in "Sin City" than in "The City of Churches"
All those lightning bolts must be a PITA for an IT guy. ;D

Well, it is upstairs now... Yes it was harder then I thought and I did need help to get it done.
Exit Question: You think I could send the bill for the safe to the Brady Bunch and get them to reimburse me..... after all I am keeping my evil guns locked up so they dont end up on the street HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
-
Check with your insurance agent, ya never know you might get a break on your homeowners/renter's insurance. Well, assuming you have a firearms rider to cover your guns. Which would mean that they have a complete and accurate inventory with serial numbers and pictures (but I'm sure that would never fall into the wrong hands. ;))

You want a slow, easy lifestyle? Come to northwest Iowa. You'll freeze your arse off in the wintertime, but on the upside, summer is hotter than hell. ;D

hehe Onya mate glad you worked out what it is like where i live :) just we need more rain as SA is the driest state that Australia has and we have all sorts of water shortages they are building a DeSal plant to give us more water

I thought you were going to finish by saying the combination is locked in the safe! Put by a wall and put two alarm sensors one on the wall and one on the safe, and put it on another zone. If it is moved away from the sensor, the horn goes off.
