Title: Flame Thrower
Post by: Hazcat on December 12, 2007, 07:37:00 PM
Last time I saw this show I wondered why they looked so wimpy.  Tonight I listened and found out.

The actual working pressure is 2200 PSI in the real thing and it will shoot 40 meters (same distance as the one mounted on tanks).  Also the actual M2 used "matches" located in the head of the wand which were ignited by the front trigger.  There (I believe) 8 matches and each would burn for about 8 seconds.  And of course diesel was not used as you wanted the stream to stay tight so you would get max distance and less flame at the nozzle.

Last thing is that at full pressure it is like a constant recoil on a 12 gauge.  It definitely pushed you.

I think it was one of the machine gun shooting shows.  MB also showed the flamethrower being used,  Like the MGs you could pay to shoot it.

I'm thinking damn, I could finally get my grill to light really quickly!

I really liked Sonny, whose husband own the flamethrowers...I told her you gotta love a woman who smells of jellied gasoline...I wonder what he got her for Valentine's Day? Maybe his and her fire extinguishers...
