Title: KEL TEC BULLPUP CARBINE
Post by: bushpilot267 on December 28, 2009, 09:39:33 PM
There is an excellent report and test of the new offering from Kel Tec in .308 here www.gunblast.com/KelTec-RFB.htm

Quite a bit of real world use over at the bullpup forum on AR15.com.  http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=6&f=43

I do read gunblast. Jeff Quinn seems like a nice guy but all his reports are glowing.  I've never seen him say anything even remotely close to "constructive criticism" on his reviews.  I think he said he only reports on stuff that meets his standards...I have 95+ gun and like most of them...but I can tell you what I don't like on all of them also.

Seems like the reports of guys with 1000+ rounds through the RFB are fairly positive.  One guy who has 1500+ rounds through his has one of the plastic parts broken...don't recall which one right now.  They seem to be pretty reliable feeding and extracting.  A lot of people say that they wouldn't trust a KelTec product in a major caliber but so far the rifle seems to be working.  Personally, I like my KelTec PF9.  It isn't refined but it isn't meant to be.

I also read Jeff's reviews, I always take any review with a grain of salt; until I have a chance to shoot a gun that I am interested in, I do not speak ill or well of it.  And you are correct any gun that I have ever owned or currently own, has it's flaws, but they are flaws that I can live with or I would not have purchased the weapon. 8) 8) 8)

Interesting concept, I'm curious to hear how the forward ejection works out over the long run.

This months American Rifleman has a review as well.  Says that it kind of pukes out spent casings when it feels like it.  Stores them in some internal chamber before it chucks them out.  I'm curious myself but one of those little fellas is a pipe dream here in Assachusetts.

More likes poops out. They just drop out and hit the ground. No gusto what so ever!

Where's the ejection port?

Where's the ejection port?

Its like the FN 2000.  It just slobbers the brass out the front when it feels like it.  You'd figure it be a bad thing to get fouled up.

Sorry, I can just see those dribbles of spent rounds jamming in foul weather, snow, dirt, etc,....

I did notice the "dent" that was in the side of the wall though,.... :o

I want my brass "ejected", the farther the better....and with some authority...

I'd be worried about fouling of the...'ejection channel' and damages brass or steels cases.  But if you a left, its probably not that big of a trade of to have a bullpup you can actually shoot. ;)

The guy in that video is getting kicked around pretty good for a .308 isn't he?

Guess you'd really have to watch your footing shooting that thing!
