Title: Some people have no respect for others property.
Post by: TAB on January 04, 2010, 02:13:47 PM
Just got a call from the wife, she was in tears.  Some jack ass backed into her car, of corse they didn't leave a note, It had to have been another doctor as you have to be a doctor on call to get on that floor of the parking garage.   >:(

Was this the wife's "gift" car?

No note? Restricted lot? Real Class Act and a Real Schmuck. Hope you find out who did it.

yes, it was the car I got her from xmas.

I already told her to go to security and post a notes in all the departments.  I don't think she will post the notes, but I sure as hell would.

If they got it on the security camera, he WILL be paying to fix it, as otherwise he could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
FQ13 who thinks extortion is such an ugly word ;D

Probably a neurosurgeon.

My ex-SIL, a nurse of long standing, including a stint in the Israeli army, had a nasty fall, and when she woke up, there was a guy hovering over her. Groggily she asked him - Who are you? He answered, you had a blow to the head, I'm a neurosurgeon. To which she replied - neurosurgeons are assholes!!!  ;D

Get the security tapes, even if it's from the exit door to show who left after she arrived. It is hit and run, even if on private property. Also have her look for cars with damaged lights or fenders in the garage

Take pictures of the damage and hang them all over the hospital bulletin boards. Say they were taken from the security cameras. Give them a week to come clean. Tnen it's open season.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I see it all the time. Watched a woman slam into a new pickup the other day in the grocery store parking lot. She just drove off. I got her plate number and gave it to the owner of the pickup. He came to the station later that day and he found me again to take his report.
Might want to go to the parking lot and look at the other vehicles. The paint transfer will give away what color, and where it was hit at gives you a idea of what type of vehicle. Hit high pickup, hit low sports car ect. Look for damage to another vehicle in the lot and confront the a@@hole.

Screw it TAB, call the cops. There has to be evidence of an accident that bad. Probably someone drunk or dipping into the pharm closet that didn't want to explain it. Sacramento can't be so busy that the cops won't stick an FNG with this "major crime scene". A restricted lot, security cameras, paint scrapings and a time frame of when it could happen and who was on the duty roster. It shouldn't take Sherlock Holmes to solve this one.

Yeah, Dude.  LE needs to get involved in this one.  What ever happened to honor and personal responsibility?  When did they become antique words?  Looking into my crystal ball, I see a very young doc raised in a liberal environment by nascent hippie parents who never understood the concept of ethics.  When you find this piece of crud, let me know if I'm right. (or wrong--then, it could be time for a new crystal ball)

TAB, you've gotta do whatever it takes to find this arrogant piece of shit.  If he/she did $6k in damage they did NOT get away with no evidence of a crash on their vehicle.  Find out who it is, then nail their ass to the wall as completely as the law will allow.

As for your sweetie, give her a hug, tell her you love her, and tell her how glad you are it was JUST the car, and that nothing happened to HER.

I'll be keeping the good thought for you, my friend.

Its in the insurances hands, they know already have a copy of the tape, they know the make and color of the truck.  All thats left for them to do is request who was working that day, then cross refrence it with the DMV.   This is something I know they will do as they don't want to shell out 10k+ for the car.

Tab, Here's the law pertaining to vehicle accidents in Ca.

Moving the vehicle in accordance with this subdivision does not affect the question of fault. The driver shall also immediately do either of the following:

(1) Locate and notify the owner or person in charge of that property of the name and address of the driver and owner of the vehicle involved and, upon locating the driver of any other vehicle involved or the owner or person in charge of any damaged property, upon being requested, present his or her driver's license, and vehicle registration, to the other driver, property owner, or person in charge of that property. The information presented shall include the current residence address of the driver and of the registered owner. If the registered owner of an involved vehicle is present at the scene, he or she shall also, upon request, present his or her driver's license information, if available, or other valid identification to the other involved parties.

(2) Leave in a conspicuous place on the vehicle or other property damaged a written notice giving the name and address of the driver and of the owner of the vehicle involved and a statement of the circumstances thereof and shall without unnecessary delay notify the police department of the city wherein the collision occurred or, if the collision occurred in unincorporated territory, the local headquarters of the Department of the California Highway Patrol.

(b) Any person who parks a vehicle which, prior to the vehicle again being driven, becomes a runaway vehicle and is involved in an accident resulting in damage to any property, attended or unattended, shall comply with the requirements of this section relating to notification and reporting and shall, upon conviction thereof, be liable to the penalties of this section for failure to comply with the requirements.

(c) Any person failing to comply with all the requirements of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six months, or by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that imprisonment and fine.

Yep....let them do the dirty work.

And, if you happen to find out where the asshat parks, every 6 weeks or so take a valve stem tool and loosen the needle on the stems to let the air out of his tires.
No property damage on your part....just inconvenience on theirs.

yep, let them deal with it.  I don't need or want that headache, nor do I want to shell out money to my lawyer.

The $500 deductable is worth it, besides if they find the guy,  its refunded.  I've been hit so many times, I no longer go thru the other guys insurance, I go thru mine and let my insurance comapny get it out of you.

Well got the check today...  The insurance company paid high blue book.  which was a hair over 15k.  So having some SOB hit her car basicly put 10k in our pockets.  can't really complain about that, I don't think Sarah will be happy about not having her car, now its time to go car shoping.

Just a thought, mudslides, parking lots, earthquakes, a Kalifornia type vehicle...Plus the hybrid, teeny, tiny clown car owners scamper away,...

Glad you came out ahead, hopefully your premiums won't go up..
