After spending the first 22 years of my life, and attending all of my formal schooling in the state of Missouri, I can state that natives of the state pronounce it Missour-ah. Local dialect.

I guess it's one of those things like folks that pronounce an "er" at the end of some words ending in "a" (my grandmother did it).......example: Brender....instead of Brenda.

Definitely not making fun of anyone....like banter on the range......just a sh*ts and giggles moment.   ;)
