Hunters spark lockdown of Texas nuclear weapons plant
Jan 15 01:15 PM US/Eastern
A pair of fowl hunters sparked a brief lockdown of a Texas nuclear weapons plant Friday, officials said.
"They were just doing what people do around here," said Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry. "They just had a lot more company than they were planning on."
The sheriff's office got a call around 7:20 am from an employee of B&W Pantex who saw two men getting out a vehicle dressed in camouflage and carrying guns a couple miles from the plant.
The men were soon found in a nearby field setting up goose decoys and a blind.
They were very cooperative and quickly provided identification showing that they were Pantex employees, Terry told AFP.
No charges will be filed in the case and it appears as though the men -- who were hunting on a day off from work -- had permission from the owner of the land to hunt there.

Heard this story on the car radio. Serious news-type announced that, "Armed men were found in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant..." It wasn't until the story was more developed that the doofus added that they were determined to be, "armed hunters." Could have saved a few words if he just started out calling them "hunters." UNarmed hunters are just hikers, aren't they? ;)

I can see the first reports going out that "we are locking done the plant, because we beleive there armed people on the grounds." However, once you have the facts can't you say "the plant was locked down when hunters were spotted on the grounds. Initial sightings did not confirm their intentions, and the plant was locked down until it was determined they meant no harm ... to the plant or its workers." Oooooops ... that wouldn't sell ink or boost ratings would it >:(
