Title: New from Remington
Post by: ellis4538 on January 20, 2010, 01:19:09 PM
Haven't had a chance to look around a lot to find out if this has been posted or not but I found out from a friend who works in a GS that Remington will show a 1911 at SHOT.  I hope it is worth looking at.

MB mentioned on the Audio Blog about a rumor about above mentioned 1911...I guess my friend was misinformed!  He did say it came from a Remingtom release of some sort.

There are no bad 1911's.  Some have just been more loved than others.

Do you think if Ruger makes a 1911 it will be polymer?

Not trying to start a rumor, just wondering out loud.

Wishful thinking I think, but I would love to see it.  If that were to happen I would have thought STI or SV would have been the first.

I would have as well since STI makes such great guns.

It just seems that the 1911 has been taken in so many directions, including polymer guns like the KZ or SpecOps 9 from Wilson, that an affordable polymer 1911 would be on the horizon.

Since Ruger seems to be advancing polymer guns in ways others previously had not, a polymer 1911 could be a nice complement to the "Hard R," line they put out.  They could even release it on 21 or 23 JAN 2011 as part of the fanfare.

Have to wonder what JMB or COL Cooper would've had to say though.

An affordable polymer 1911 I would have to buy. If for no reasons other than pure curiosity and collection.

I'd like to see the Remington come back.  I could put it in the safe next to my WWII Rem Rand.  Sort of like letting the great grandfather meet the new baby.

I really hope that if Ruger releases a 1911 that they do it by staying somewhat true to the design with metal and all.  I personally am not ready for a polymer 1911 but thats just me.  Im excited about all of the new 1911's coming out but honestly, I am really ready for something new.  I don't want or need 20 1911's but if Ruger releases one then I will have to have one just because its a ruger.  I also just found out a company from Memphis is making 1911's and I want to support the local boys so that is another one that I want.

Is the company out of Memphis the one associated with Todd Jarrett?

Jarretts tied to Para USA...

I had heard that Jarrett left Para USA to start a 1911 company.

Is that wrong?

I heard it on the Handgun Podcast with Eric Shelton.  Episode # 84 dated 2010 FEB 05.

I know you can't believe everything you hear on the internet so...

Thanks,

Anyones guess.  He's all over the 2010 Para Catalogue.  I think he's tied to Dawson Precision as well.

I also heard he's Dale Jarrett's cousin....

Hey Timothy,

Don't know about the cousin thing.

I heard that there was another 1911 startup coming to fruition in the middle part of the country and thought the TN company was part of that.  Supposedly it is going to have a big name attached.

When I heard mention on that podcast that Todd Jarrett was leaving Para USA I thought that might be the big name.

Don't know anything for sure!!!  I say again:  I do not know anything for sure.

Just wondering if combining information from others could possibly help fill in the blank spots.

Thanks!
