Title: Jello Biafra? Better than Elvis? Blasphemy!
Post by: bbbean on January 20, 2010, 03:15:25 PM
Putting the DK's politics aside, the notion that ANYONE could have done a better version of Viva Las Vegas than Elvis is pure blasphemy! Next you'll be suggesting that the 1911 isn't the ultimate firearm, and that the best BBQ in the world doesn't come from the Mid-South. For shame!

Never heard the Elvis version , don't know anything about the politics of Dead Kennedy's ( at least not the band, the family sux)
But give me the ZZ Top version everytime.

If you haven't heard Elvis sing Viva Las Vegas, you haven't heard the song. For that matter, how'd you grow up without seeing the movie?

I prefer the timing on ZZ's version, it's a touch slower than Elvis's version.

I remember the night night he was on Ed Sullivan, but I have never been an Elvis fan, so I made it a point not to watch his movies.
Never much cared for Led Zepplin, Ozzy, or Pink Floyd either.
Partly it's because of the over playing of "Stairway to Heaven" and "Another pr!ck in the Hall"

Oh yeah, there's a recent post about Bane being an uncouth savage...methinks he just proved it blaspheming Elvis.  I bet Tupelo Flash skins him alive for that....I'm wondering if there's an apology in order in exchange for Tupelo's continued presence on Cowboys

On another front....I did hear him say 45 Long Colt on the videocast talking about the new tupperware Judge...go get'em HAZCAT....he made a point to say 45 Colt on the podcast...his true evil nature slipped out when unscripted, eh?

There was saving grace with the new Bren 10 spot, however, and that was most appreciated.

Saying that the DK version of "VLV" is better than the King's is like saying that Jessica Simpson did a better version of "These Boots".....may Alf the Wonder Beagle use you new Para-Ordinance as a chew toy....  :P

I never heard Jessica Simpsons version of it,( Not saying I want to ) But on the subject of remakes, say whatever you want about Madonna, she did an AWESOME job on "Don't cry for me Argentina".
Motley Crue did a cover of "Smoking in the boys room", and Tesla covered "Signs" . In both cases they cover was identical to the original except for one thing that made them better,
 the recording equipment.
