Today would have been my Dad's 98th birthday. I can't picture him at 98, though.......he'll be forever 58 in my memory.
I've been trying to remember some of the things we did when I was a kid. Going with him on his dry cleaning delivery route on Saturdays. Fishing, hunting, and just enjoying each other's company. "Just us guys", as he used to say. Dad, me and the dog, leaving Mom and my sisters at home so we could spend some quality time together. It didn't matter what we were doing, as long as I could be with him I was a happy boy!! He was my hero. He was my best friend. He was my Dad.
Sadly, in the 40 years he's been gone his memory is starting to fade, and I hate it. I guess that's the curse of the passage of time.
Anyway, Happy Birthday, Dad!! They broke the mold when they made you. You were the best!! I love you!!

That is a long time!
Hang on to what you can, and remember that the love will never fade.

Write the stories down now, TT. Get a good journal and write them down. Write what happened and what you thought and felt about it.

Celebrate his life, and as Solus posted, write what you can down, a little at a time. Tim Russert wrote "Wisdom Of Our Father's", now that Tim has passed away as well, continue the legacy, memories and experiences will always keep him with you and your family, and generations to come.
He's still with you, his body is gone, but his spirit will always be with you, Happy Birthday to Him.
Take Care tt,

Tom, your dad may have left many years ago, at way too early of an age....but, based on how you turned out, he obviously did one hell of a job as a dad while he was on this earth.
Thanks for posting.

Chuck, thank you so much for your kind words. Truth be told, anything positive that I have become or accomplished in my life is more a reflection on him that it is on me.
