I took the plunge and got myself a set of Crimson Trace laser grips for my M&P. Amazingly the grip more mimics the large than the midsize grip contrary to the gun magazines claims. My dilemma is to what distance should I set the laser. Currently I have it set zeroed to the distance across our living room. But at distances up close and personal the laser is off center to the far bottom right of the sight picture. At about 10 feet the round will hit about 1" above and 2" to the left of the dot. Is there any reason really to worry about zeroing it at any closer distance?

The Laser zero should coincide with your iron sights zero.

G4life, bullets from a handgun rise and fall quickly, a laser is a straight line always, there are only 2 points where the laser and bullet will intersect, the rise and then the fall. Personally, I would want the close distance zero, 10 yrds, that means head shot with a good trigger press. Body shots won't be far off enough to matter. Of course you would want to try it out a longer distances just to have a reference. JMHO

At the gun show yesterday, my co-worker who loved my M+P .40 full size bought one. He's had it for about a month, I clicked the CT link here at DRTV, got the catalog and DVD. Good stuff from MB, Todd Jarret, and others, that really justify the product for SD.
Well, I wanted to know how the CT's would "change" the fantastic grips that I love about the M+P. He bought a set, brought his pistol to the show, and the CT rep offered free installation. He installed and zeroed at 7yds.
In all my AK purchase excitement, I forgot to post a follow up regarding the "other" toys I got, and how the CT grips for the M+P were not bad for me at all..
FWIW 7-10 yd. zero is the distance every drill and scenario on the CT DVD covered. Perfect SD distance, and after I recover from my AK buy, I'm going to get them for my Taurus Ultra-Lite.
BTW, the gun show price was $250.00.....

That's about $50 less than what I paid at a local BIG box retailer that should go nameless. Let's just say they are the largest outdoors outfitter. I love the fact that, to me, the LG feels the same size as the large insert. In fact I switched the large out to the LG and it feels the same. I would say that currently mine is "zeroed" at about 25 ft. but in my bedroom just aiming it on the wall the difference is only about 2 inches at the most. So great deal. I tried to find my CT DVD and couldn't so I'm going to go online and watch the video again. It's been about a year since I saw it. TW, one of these days I'm going to have to come down your way just to go shot some .40 with you and laugh at the G-men (GLOCK FANBOYS) and their inferior tupperware! HAHA

This is true on lasers mounted in line with the bore. CT mounts below and right of the bore. It only crosses the laser once. If you are zeroed at 10yds, the laser will be more left than the line of the bullet at further distances (not that they're real effective at further distances).

I keep my Crimson Trace units sighted in parallel to the bore. That way I am only off a bit over an inch, from near to far. I don't assume it gives me further distance, but I also don't worry about being sighted in for only one distance.

I tried holding a .40c M&P like mine with the CT grips and absolutely hated the way it felt in my hand.

Were there specific things you didn't like about how it felt? I'm planning to pick up a 9c or 40c in the next week and am strongly considering CTLG for it. Your feedback could be extremely valuable.
Just was up at our church checking on our video system. While I was in our sanctuary (and no one was in the building) I decided to see the alignment of the laser to my sights at the length of the room. Almost dead on. So I know that at 10 or less the laser is about an inch right of POI/POA and at about 50 feet it's near dead on. Cool

WoW... So I get up this morning and I was doing some maintenance on my M&Ps and realized that my laser was way off. I haven't even shot it yet. So I rezero and bumped the gun a few times on my knee. Sure enough the laser mover. I called CT and they didn't have a clue other than a defect. So I took it back to Cabelas and had to explain to 3 people the problem. Only one of them understood and actually put 2 and 2 together and swapped it out. Took it home and for now it's staying put but it worries me that a $300 product designed to handle military and LEO use would have such a problem. Here's hoping this is an isolated incident. If this laser repeats the problem I am going to have to give it up and get my cash back. Something I really don't want to do since I love this product. Come on CT hold up to your reputation. Customer service from CT was great though, no complaints there. Hey, at least if I have to take it back I know there is a beautiful No 4 Lee Enfield sitting there for $299. A good even swap if nothing else.
