The last surviving Cartwright has ridden into the sunset. Boy did I watch those Bonanza shows...

RIP. Mr. Roberts!!!!

My wife's uncle (her mom's brother) was just talking about this on the phone this evening to us. My mother-in-law was saddened by this. She and her brother grew up and were schoolyard pals with Mr. Roberts. He visited their home to play during their childhood years in Waycross, Ga. Both she and her brother have mentioned it many times that he was a fine person.
RIP, Mr. Roberts.

The end of a legacy, Bonanza had a lot of young actors, in seemingly good health pass. There is a Texas band who does a tribute to Bonanza, and i tried real hard to find it, but did not. RIP all in the bonanza series, I too enjoyed and watched them all.
Wait, I found it. Enjoy.

You know, I have vague (of course ;)) memories of actually being stoned enough to enjoy that song. However, that was 25 years ago and now I have to ask, WTF?
FQ13 who did like the guys hat, cowboy dip with a tight roll, the way God intended it! ;D

You heard that song 25 yrs ago???

I'll take it for you. I grew up in South Florida in the 1980's. Hell, I had a white linen "Italian waiters jacket" bought from Bannana Republic back when they still had the catalog and used to be cool. I was seen wearing loafers (sans socks) a teal T-shirt and white pleated linen pants with Ray Bans doing my level best to be Sonny Crockett. However, post high school, I did ROTC and entered the wonderfu world of random drug tests. Out went the bong, in came the keg. As Tom puts it, war on some drugs indeed. Different medium, same result. To quote our former leader, "When I was young and irresponsible, I was young and irresponsible". Or to quote the Govenator "I inhaled, exhaled and at least could do drugs right as opposed to Clinton". ;D
FQ13 who still wants that Bren 10 with a shoulder rig ;D

Thanks for watching my six M'lette. Nothing says back off like a purple gun. ;D ;D ;D
FQ13 who is still listening to the Bellamy Brothers "Old Hippie" without a trace of irony, just a wistful smile. :-\

Or my current view on life can be summed up here in the update

Sometimes your life CAN be summed up in a country song, and that is never a good thing, but honest to God you want to understand the Quaker listen to this song. It ain't all I am, but close enough for government work. ;D :o

That whole show and the Cartright Family hold a place of honor in my memory. We'd watch it as a family every week (on a 17" Silverton B&W tabletop TV). Looking back, there were many things done on that show we just couldn't do today. Remember Hop Sing? How non-PC was that? But, the show always supported the honorable approach to life. A man's word was his bond. The bad guys had it coming, and they always got their comeuppance before the show ended.
All those boys passed on way too soon. Big Dan Blocker was the first to go, I think. Then Michael Landen and now Pernell. It reminds me a little too much that I'm not getting any younger, either.
