I need some advice on med kits. For one, I'd like to have a kit specifically for the range that I carry in the car. Next, I'd like something for day to day work travel and family travel that would stay in the car. One kit that combines the two would be great...any suggestions and insight is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

I have a Diamondback Tactical BIRK kit and a BTIK kit at home and in my car.

I like the Israeli Battle Dressing so I added a couple to each kit with spare gloves.
You could make one up yourself but as these were very complete it was easier just to buy them.
I have broke it out a few times for bumps and scrapes at training classes and one car wreck.

Building your own is easier and cheaper, especially in that you don't get a lot of crap (or cheap crap) in the commercial kits you don't want or need.
Add some Quick-Clot to the range FAK.
Tactical Response (among others) has "operator" type FAKs that include QC or other things like the Israeli dressing.

I had the catalog in front of me yesterday. Your too polite. The website is terrible!
Try these two:

Geoff is right you can pick and choose what you think you can use and put it together cheaper.

all portable. small and basic to a portable hospital.
I keep one (company furnished) in my work van, which we get to take home, and one in my Xterra, and one in my house.

I would caution anyone intending to use Quick Clot tm. Read up on its use and what it does, its not exactly the potato starch your dad used in (fill in the blank). Quick Clot has been known to cause burns, and if used inproperly can actually make the situation worse by closing the wound without stopping the bleeding. As with all things the more training you have the better off you will be. A simple red cross or first responder course will take you a lot further than what they are worth.

I've used Adventure Medical Kits for years: http://www.adventuremedicalkits.com/
I've added The Cavalry Arms ACMK trauma kit...a must for those of us who spend time around things that go bang!

Thanks MB....I bought the Adventure Medical Fundementals kit for the home and BOB and was looking for extreme trauma supplement to it. The Cavarly Arms kit looks perfect for the BOB and the range bag.

Working in teh EMS field, I approached the med crews i fly around and had them build me a "car accident kit" and it stays in my Jeep. Then I have my hiking kit which is made to be basic needs as light as possible. I do have quite a collection of field dressings and a few packages of quik clot.
And Pietro is right... be careful what kind of woulds you quik clot. Chest wounds are a NONO...

I think First Aid TRAINING is more important than a First Aid KIT. You can probably get basic first aid for less than $20 thru the Red Cross.
Just something that came to mind reading this thread.

CPR certification runs about 80-100 bucks and is well worth it.

Or free when offered through community programs, like the Citizen Academy where I got mine last year.
