Great episode guys.
I have witnessed several bar fights erupt/escalate in almost the same manner you depicted in your opening segment.
+1 on the salt shaker as a weapon. About 15 years ago I actually used a pepper shaker against a drunk that came at me with a pool stick. He swung and I stepped in to take the momentum of the stick away and had scooped up a shaker off the side-bar and caught him full in the ribcage (cracked a couple too). That stopped the fight.
I know it probably wasn't logistically feasible, but would liked to have seen the fridge penetration tests done on another unit with some items of frozen food in it for a comparison. This is in no way a criticism, as the tests showed a great deal of info.
The knife defense segment was excellent also, very informative. I liked the fluidity of motion and wise use of counter moves. One of those things that makes you hit your forehead and wonder, "Now why didn't I think of that?"
You guys have really stepped head and shoulders above the rest.....keep it coming.

Great episode...esp. the part on knife SD. I tend to carry a knife more often than a gun, and I'm glad to see more techniques taught nowadays....
One question for Mr. Janich and others: Do you consider slashes to an attacker's face/eye area viable in stopping the attack? It was something that I was taught, and I'd like to know any pros and cons to the tactic.

You said exactly what I was thinking. Would it make a difference if the fridge was full of food items. Especailly the freezer. - The only thing is would this make the test unsafe somehow say bullet hitting a frozen pound of hamburger where will it deflect to?

My wifes leftover meatloaf would stop anything.

Are we talking bullets or your colon?

excellent episode. i would like to actually see you guys show penetration on a brick wall. I am always concerned that if i miss, will my rounds go through my drywall and brick then through the neighbors brick and drywall...or will it lose all of its inertia before that?

Yes, I do advocate cuts to the eyes. If the attacker is wearing a jacket that makes the triceps cut impractical, move the cut up to eye level. This is not the often recommended "veil of blood" B.S. of cutting across the forehead to spill blood into the eyes, it's a true cut across the orbital sockets. That preps the mobility kill cut to the quad.
Stay safe,
Mike

Pincus and Janich covered having a gallon of liquid in the fridge today.
No Fridge is safe with those two around

Yep...the dastardly "Fridge-Killers".............gives a whole new meaning to 'raiding the fridge'.
Seriously, though, that buckshot was devastating through there...I figured it would go through, but I never would have thought that the pattern would have stayed so tight all the way through. One hole going in and a 9-hole pattern roughly hand-sized at exit..... and through two jugs of water. I know the sheet metal on a refrigerator is way thin but that was an eye-opener. Same with the other rounds.
Outstanding episode all-around.
