Title: Rep. John Murtha dead at 77
Post by: oldkat69 on February 08, 2010, 01:58:19 PM
Considered by some one of the most corrupt in congress John Murtha is dead at 77 of complications of gall bladder surgery.  Best known for calling American soldiers in Iraq "murdrers" he was a part of but not charged in the Abscam scandal.  He told undercover agents he was not interested in the $50,000 bribe at that time but they might do business when they knew each other better.  Ironically he had an A rating from the NRA on gun issues.

It's really bad form to speak ill of the dead.  So I won't say anything about Murtha's death.  But I really want to.  Really, really, really!

Well, I for one thank him for his service in the Marines through two wars. At that point he was making the world a better place.

+1 cr, That's certainly one way to get him out of office.

He has been bashed here extensively here at DRTV, I personally thought he was part of the problem in D.C. His airport might be up to 4 flights a day now?

I didn't think he would die, I was hoping he'd stay alive long enough to get voted out.

Either way,...

Not to sound coldblooded (but it is Murtha), whats his district like? Western Pa seems pretty conservative. Any idea on whether this will be a GOP pick-up?

Don't know the exact stat, but it was a "narrow" victory last election. I think its just a couple of cities, like San Fran, that generate the majority of now "former" Murtha voters...while the more rural areas are much more moderate and conservative.

Part of the "Rust Belt" and union heavy....

The 12th Pennsylvania congressional district is located in southwestern Pennsylvania. It is a heavily Gerrymandered district. It consists of all of Greene County, and parts of Allegheny, Armstrong, Cambria, Fayette, Indiana, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties.

The district was drawn specifically for Murtha, including many heavily Democratic regions, while leaving more right-leaning Pittsburgh suburban regions to the 4th or 18th district, and rural conservative regions to the 3rd or 9th district.[citation needed]

The 12th includes all of Greene County, a highly rural region that still has a traditionally Democratic influence due to its labor leanings. In Washington county, the city of Washington, a large and Democratic edge suburb of Pittsburgh is a part of the 12th, as well as the eastern portion of the county, which includes the very Democratic former steel megacenter, the Monongahela Valley region. However, more rural western Washington County and the suburban northern portion of the county (with towns like McDonald and Canonsburg) belongs to the 18th. The western portion of Fayette County, including the city of Uniontown, a labor Democratic stronghold is part of this district, while the rural mountainous eastern portion is a part of the 9th.

Murtha brought home the bacon, or at least the Pork, Like the Green county International Airport.
I hope Obama goes to campaign for his replacement, it will guarantee another Republican in congress.
Now we need Barney Frank to choke on a wiener and Pelosi to cut her throat on a cracked mirror.

To quote Mark Twain, I will not be attending the funeral, but I approve of the festivities.

Send the corrupt old POS out with the bashing he deserves.
They won't bury him, he was so crooked they can just screw him into the ground.
I just hope they remember the stake through his heart.

I wonder if they will try to plant him in Arlington?

Tom if he is buried in Arlington, as US President, will you have his remains removed from among those of honor who rest there?

As a US CITZEN, I'd volunteer to go dig the old bastard up and chuck 'em in the nearest dumpster...

No, because once, as a young man, he actually DID do the right thing, Teddy K. would get shifted to Potters Field though.

Vote Fraud at the highest level.

As I've said before, I consider that Treason.  I will consider the sentence adequate and fulfilled.
