just been watching this tonight
and watching how they deal with someone when they pull a car over
and if I was to get pulled over I know I would be in the crap as the first thing i do ( and Most Aussies ) is to get out of the car to talk to the copper.
note to self Don't do that when in the States

Does that mean you're coming to visit us? Or that you're planning on getting stopped by the cops? I'm getting mixed signals here. :)

I wish I was going over there
I am not going to be any time soon :(
it was just more of a comment how I noticed how it is dealt with differently when they pull someone over
not that I would plan on getting pulled over unless I was driving as you all drive on the wrong side of the road from the passenger side of the car :P

Phil, I served with some Marines who had been in Okinawa when they SWITCHED from one side to the other.
They had stories about going to the intersections to watch the wrecks ;D

Speaking as a former LEO, when somebody hopped out of the car before I could get to the door it caused me to wonder exactly what he had in the car that he didn't want me to see. ;D

Hey guys I was just on patrol and I found a car parked in a secluded spot. Yep, when I pulled up they was scrambling to put some clothes on. It is like 10 degrees out, a little nipy. Might call that one assault with a friendly weapon on my report.
Chief says that I can not call it that. Dam PR crap.
How about hiding twigs and berrys in the bushes. He is giving me dirty looks.

Did about two months worth of ride alongs with the Travis County SD for anthro class on participant observation. Its a tough job, but those stops were always amusing as hell. The one thing that did impress me was that the deputies had a policy of taking the girl away and asking her if she wanted to be there, and also asking (if she was under-aged), if it was safe for her to go home. A very nice touch I thought.

It is the norm to do that. Do not want to think that something was going on that I could have prevented. It gets to you after a while thinking you could have stopped something and did nothing. Better to be a a@@ and be hated for doing my job than to be a slacker and loved by the criminals.
