I went to the Ft Worth gun show today. Prices higher than hell as usual on everything except a few new pistols. There was a group offering Utah chl classes in Texas? It's cheaper and only lasts 6 hours. No written test or range qualification. Get your license in less than 90 days. No renewal class. It is honored in 30 other states. How can this be? There has to be a catch?

some of those other states don't recognize "Non Resident" CCW's

Most of them do though. I guess I never thought that you could get a CHL from another state to use in your home state. I asked a couple of LEO at the gun show about it. They said they had never come across one and he said he would have to ask his supervisor to find out. I guess I don't think outside of the box enough. I sure was hoping for more responces. ???

Some States like New Mexico have taken step to make you get one from them if you live their. i.e. they won't honor nonresidence permits from residence. So make sure to check your state laws. www.handgunlaw.us is a great reference tool to get all the necessary info. for each state. They now bundle everything in a PDF file for each state. pretty cool I downloaded mine and put it on my phone.

FL will issue a NR chl if you have had a hunter education course, or any type of firearms safety I think. Still have to do Background/prints/photos and such. I need to get one of those two cause I have family in OH, and my TX License is no good there. I think NH will issue you a NR permit as long as you have your state's Permit. WV doesn't honor Nonresident, so I would have to open carry when I went there. I took a UT nonresident class, but didnt get the photos done in time so I;d have to retake the class.
