Lets assume Santa gives you one (complete with permit). It's still $5-$8 every time you fire a round. Lets make a deal. You call me on the phone, and I'll yell BANG! as loud and as fast as I can, all for only $1 per BANG!. Deal? ;D ;D ;D

That might be a good idea in theory, but I still will have this lust for one

Damn, that thing rocked the Hummer it was on! And the flow of brass was waterlike, a pretty copper-colored waterfall - a damned expensive waterfall!

Ah, it's good to be the gummint.

Its sort of like my take on the B-2 at one billion dollars a throw. :o "Now, I'll give you the $5K it'd cost me to empty this thing and just go away, or else, well, the ammo company will be happy". ;D
FQ13 who still thinks Saddam would have given up power if we'd offered him the price of 2 B-2s, immunity, SS protection, and a beach house in Maui. :-\

Think about QUAD .50's!  Guy fresh back from Knob Creek several years ago told us about that.  Talk about cost of ammo.....HS Batman!!!!!

Richard

PS:  Wish I had all the money they spend on ammo and etc. just for one shoot!!!!!

It might also be telling. As Path noted, it did rock the Hummer. How accurate is it? Not casting aspersions, just curious. Because, if it can rock a lord knows how many ton up armored hummer, firing at a zillion rps, how accurate will it be at 500 yards? And if you have to fire short bursts to compensate, as opposed to going into "hose mode" where is the advantage over a more traditional .50? It seems like a great AA or anti-missile weapon on a ship (Somali Pirates anyone? "Chou want to mess with me? Chou want to mess with me?") ;D. Sorry, got lost there, but as an anti-infantry weapon? Other than the "Oh Crap" factor, it seems a bit of over kill.

As the site says "Considered to be quite accurate, with a maximum dispersion of 5 milliradians diameter for 80% of the rounds fired."  Whatever the hell that means.

It gets kind of techie, 1 milradian = 3.6" at 100 yards, so x 5 = 18'' group for 80% of the shots fired. That does not sound great, but for the hard target downrange means a lot of hurt. 3' at 200, 4.5' @300 etc... Looking at the muzzle deflection due to just the suspension and tires flexing on the humvee, the outcome sounds better than I would expect, unless it has a dip gyro.

Saw a video of a single .50 round fried by a sniper.  It was a special purpose round that was shot at a cement block wall.  It penetrates the wall and produces a shotgun like explosion of material on the other side.  In this case it took out 2 bad guys who were setting up a machine gun behind the wall.

Imagine what that gun would do to a group  of bad guys in a room with a 10 x 10 outside wall at 500 yds.

I was kinda hoping that someone was making an old-fashioned, hand-cranked Gatling in .50 BMG for civilian sale....  :-\

Even one in .50-90 could rock the range.....  ;D

CVA has a real nice brass one for only $45k. :o Again, I return to my point that you could pay the BG to go away for a fraction of the cost. ;D
