Title: My New Years Rabbit Hunt
Post by: Teresa Heilevang on January 02, 2008, 04:27:44 PM
I went out to my favorite huntin' spot to look for some rabbits. Thought a nice big skillet of fried rabbit and biscuits and gravy might be a good new years dinner for Marshal and me.

I searched and I looked and I walked and I kicked brush piles and old logs  and nothin'!
There wasn't a rabbit anywhere to be found.

I hunted and walked clear through the woods and up on the other side of the canyon and lo and behold.. I saw with my very own eyes.. just WHY I didn't have any rabbits...

Dang competition anyway!  >:(

A good smith could make that rifle fit a little better ::). Maybe a youth stock? :D

My vote for the rifle is a Sako, by the look of the rear of the bolt, grade of the wood and the scope mounting, hard to see but it looks like a tapered rail mount, rifle  is probably a Vixen HB, .223 as a guess or even a .222. You can spot a Savage centerfire right off by looking for the barrel nut. The scope I'm 90% sure is a Tasco, double knurling on the ocular lens, the numbers are in white and very visible in the picture, and you just see an o at the bottom side of the ocular lens above the bolt. Crafty old fox, taped up the rear sling and swivel so it don't rattle. If He wasn't kicking around Marshalette's area, I'd probably cut it down for him at a small fee. But I gotta back the Halloways play.

Nice one Marshallete ;D

That fox ain't all that good. First of all, he is ready to fire and the dang bolt is open. Wonder how many wabbits he missed due to that little oversight??

Also, there ain't one jackalope in the bunch, just little bunnies. And as Brer Fox can attest, any mope with a scope can whack a bunny, bagging a jackalope, well, that's a completely different story!!

 ;)

I think a youth stock mite fit a little better for a fox :)
