Darwin award? I mean, what part of killer whale trapped in a tank did you fail to understand? For once I agree with HSUS. Leave the poor beasts alone. Want to see one? Watch discovery or go to Seattle and hop a ferry.
FQ13 who hunts, but has serious issues with zoos.

I agree. This is like the kid playing with electricity. These things got teeth like railroad spikes, and these clowns ride around standing on the back of them. Then all of a sudden, "Hey, where did she go??" You don't give these things commands at dinner time, which for them is most anytime. Daddy, what's all that red stuff in the water?? :o Bill T.

Classic stuff, Bill, classic.......
I hate that a human being perished, but I must admit that comment was funny to me.
Sad....
Maybe I'm just tired.

Sorry for the nice young lady.
Several sayings in my family:
Don't mess with Mother Nature. To her, you are small, insignificant and bio-degradable.
Don't meddle in the affairs of dragons (or in this case killer whales). To them you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

12,000lbs!!! :o Maybe the "Whale Whisperer" can deem it as "The whale just wanted to play".......
Uh,....What kind of whale is it?
Thank you,.....duh...
Time to release this whale back to the wild, last reports on the news, state this is not the first time this whale has become aggressive, or otherwise fed up with captivity.
That would be a KILLER Whale Alex, for a $1000

This story isn't too far from that idiot Timothy Treadwell who used to like to play with Grizzly Bears. "Used to" being the key words in that sentence. Both he and his girlfriend wound up becoming appetizers as well. Why they hunted the bear down and shot him made no sense to me at all. What did they expect the bears to do, buy the two of them dinner? Bill T.

You're on a roll, Bill....
I watched that 3-hour show about it on Discovery last year...... ::) ......
How did they really expect that to turn out?
He wanted to become "one" with the grizzly........well....be careful what you wish for..... I guess that type of thing is just a routine culling of the gene pool...

But it WORKED in Farley Mowatt's book.
(Never Cry Wolf) actually very funny reading.

this qoute pretty much sums it up.
A SeaWorld official said that because of Tilikum's size and involvement in two previous deaths, trainers were not supposed to get into the water with him.... A former contractor with SeaWorld told the Orlando Sentinel that the whale, Tillikum, is typically kept isolated from SeaWorld's other killer whales and that trainers were not allowed to get in the water with him because of his violent history.
he has already killed 2 people, yet he still around? they can't keep him with other whales as he is too aggressive, yet he is still around?
WTF is sea world thinking... if it was not for the fact that the animal is worth millions it would already have been put down.

Which is exactly what her family's lawyers will say. Still, none of this would have come to pass if it were in the Pacific where it belongs. Some animals are just not geared for captivity and keeping them that way makes them neurotic like a dog on a chain.

Already killed 2 people ? And this Chucklehead doesn't stay WAAAAY back ?
All I got to say is Bon Apitite, Enjoy the DarwinBurger.

tom I don't think there is room there to get far enough away, these guys can easily beach themselfs atleast a full body lenght on dry land and get you if they wanted.

I blame Global Warming and Assault Rifles. I don't know how or why but that is the blanket Root of all evil.
Side note.. I don't think the whale should be "Put Down" for this. Like miners working below ground. This is an everyday danger that could happen. Not the whales fault for doing what it does.

Exactly. Its just being a whale. What did you expect? It didn't sign up to be a circus star. The blame lies with people who thought they could teach it to be something it wasn't. Let the damn thing go.

What good will it do to have a Million dollar high speed boat at the bottom of the tank?
-
So it seems the simpsons "when dolphins attack" episode was based on actual fact. ;D
I am sorry but really doesnt the name of the animal give it away? Huh I mean you dont normally use names like KILLER to describe non dangerous creatures, I have for instance never heard of Baa baa Killer Sheep, or Killer Mice.

Background scenery for the underwater show.
Let the whale go, wild animals only know 2 types of creatures, the ones they can eat, and the ones that can eat them.

Top of the food chain for sure!
Letting one go isn't as easy as it sounds but I agree wholeheartedly. Let nature run it's course if this animal doesn't survive in the wild after release.

Amen. I've seen them do this to seals, while salmon fishing off the coast of Vancouver island. Interesting to see the food chain in action. I've seen the herring ball up trying to keep the salmon from eating them and had seals grab the salmon I was reeling in and seen the whales eat the seals.

Did anyone see the program a few weeks ago on Animal Planet where a Killer Whale had a Great White Shark for diner? Attack it, Beat it and Eat it! Wildest thing I ever seen!
+10 for top of the food chain...

Yep, very smart to say the least, hope it didn't take a liking to humans.
