Since I'm still looking at the possibility of shooting my M&P40 in IDPA I am wondering how I can help myself in shooting against 9mm shooters. One idea that was mentioned to me was to download .40S&W to help fight off recoil. For those of you reloaders who shoot competition what kind of loadings would be a good place to start? Mainly looking for what is a typically good bullet weight preference 155, 165, 180 grain and is there any particular advantage to a HP or FMJ? Lastly, and this question came from the guy who is loading these for me, how much powder?

I like heavy bullets with a fast powder.
So in the .40 that would be a 180 grainer, FMJ truncated cone style bullet with either Clays (that's straight Clays) or Titegroup.
I am too cheap to buy and use hollow point bullets for competition.
Especially look for minor loadings in .40 at the brian enos forums.
