Title: Most Worthless Pets ???

These are mine. Sam, (Golden Retriever), and Brandy, (Cat). Sam is 9 1/2 and Brandy is 16. Both are doing what they do best, NOTHING. On cold nights both end up in the bed with us. Brandy is no problem, but Sam is 95 pounds, and he snores. Both get bathed every week, (Melanie's job). Don't want to sleep with a stinky dog or cat. The electronic camera flash didn't even wake them.

Sam can still haul a$$ after a Frisbee. I roll it on the ground at the park because I don't want him jumping. It's hard on their hips. He's got a lot of stamina for a older dog. The problem with pets is they just don't live long enough. I'll miss these guys when they're gone. Let's see your pets!!   Bill T.

Sam reminds me of my dear, departed buddy, Gen.  Completely worthless, but that didn't keep me from becoming a basket case when she died.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to stop and remember the good times with her, Bill.

I know what you mean. Back in 1996 I had to have my German Shepard, Pogey put down due to cancer that all but ate her insides out. I will never forget that walk into the vets office for the shot. I held her head because it dropped like a rock into my hand. That will be with me until the day I die. I know the same is coming for Sam in time. It will for sure be a day I can live without. I love stepping over those animals when they're sleeping.  Bill T.

Isn't it amazing how 95 pounds of fur can wrap itself around your heart so completely?   :)

I had this old pointer spike (she was half brittany, which is why I got her free, but looked all pointer). She made it to 17. Talk about worthless, she was so bad my hunting and falconing buddy actually forbade me to speak her name in front of his dogs. (Try to eat one Prarie falcon and people never forget. Sheesh! ;D :-[). Anyway, she was the world's best pet. When she got old, she started to hate getting in the car as she was nearly blind and it freaked her out. I found a very good vet that did house calls. He charged $30 just for showing up, but otherwise was a bit cheaper than my previous vet as he wasn't paying the overhead of a clinic. Blood work and stuff was ala cart, but about the same rate. Plus, it was very nice when she finally had to be put down that it happened at home. I would see what you can find in Phoenix Bill.

This is my two trouble makers. The black lab mix on the right is Josh. The chocolate Lab pup is Buck. Whats all over there face?  ???
That's pancake mix. The pup drug it out of a lower cabinet, took it out side ( Good Dog) and they both proceeded to rip the bag to pieces and eat the contents. Buck is now 2 1/2 and has finally quit chewing up the trees in the yard. Your right! Dogs for sure do not live near long enough. By the way, the wife has a cat that's 19 and still going and going and going ::)

I can't forget to mention my German Shepherds! I had two, first came Chief he was good dog that didn't like strangers! I already had the little German Alarm but I wanted one with a bite to it! Unfortunately I had to put him down in late 06' at only 2 yrs. old due to Kidney failure. :( :'( He love to be with us in bed and out! ;) In early 07' I got Liberty from a local rescue. She was about a year old when we got her, and I was forced to put her down just this last Oct after she busted her back some how and ended up paralyzed from her middle to her tail. :'( Libby was a great lovable dog, a couch potato through and through! The couch was her space, when we went to bed she would lay down with us for about 10 min and then she'd get up and go sleep on the couch! :) I loved them both dearly and miss them immensely! I've been unable to fill the hole in heart from the loss of Libby and haven't been able to look for another dog yet. Time will heal I'm sure, but as many of you know It sure is difficult and still hurts today. I'm not sure if it sucks more to lose your dog after along and happy partnership or when their so young like I did. The wife an I don't have kids, so we pour a lot of love and attention into our pets. I guess I'm just grateful I still got little Chaquita and Riley. Their both real lovable! Riley's a real purr machine and Chaquita can lick your face-off! :) :P

P.S. Bill, I don't mean to drag down the thread with a sad story, but I had to mention my Babies! :-*

Dachshund & Chihuahua mix, also known as a chiwinnie ( I just call them mutts).

His name is Tito, not after the fighter but after my favorite vodka.

Had a Fox Terrier when I was a kid that looked just like him. (Sort of a mini Doberman)

My condolences to everyone who posted about losing a furry friend. I know how you feel.  My best buddy, Rocky was a 98lb, 9 year old boxer that had to be put down, due to kidney and heart problems, just last year.  I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried and acted the fool for a long, long time.  He and his brother Capi, who passed the year before, were like my children.  Don't know if I can ever bear to have another dog as I know their passing and the grief that accompanies it is inevitable.

Looking back, that's probably the main reason I have not let myself form any attachment to an animal in nearly 20 years. After my German Shepherd 'Dixie' died I got pretty attached to my brother's dog 'Buster' and then he died in 1991. I personally haven't owned a dog since then.
