Never pick a fight with an old man, if he's too old, his "Momma" died, and he doesn't give a (insert expletive), he'll just kill you. Or if your lucky, kick your a**, and leave you knocked out for 20 minutes,....

This dude is just not the one to pick on. Granted he kinda doesn't back away from any confrontation, he looks in great shape for 60+ years old.

I believe the word is:

or·ner·y
1.
ugly and unpleasant in disposition or temper: No one can get along with my ornery cousin.
2.
stubborn: I can't do a thing with that ornery mule.

Best be gettin yo blood up off dis bus flo......

I believe the proper terminology is "Smack Down".......and race was not the issue. This old man would have done the same thing to a cocky white trash punk as well.

"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst."

Sometimes a good couple of blows, teaches a lesson not soon forgotten. Next time Malcolm X wannabe wants to pick on an "old" man, he'll think twice,.....

You sure that wasn't Haz???? ;)

The Non-Gun Stuff thread in the Cafe has similar posts but with a third video of the black guy giving his side of it.

I also searched for     67 year old beats the      on gogle and found several more videos including another interview of the old man and a video of fight after it left the bus.

The link came to me today from a CA cop. I see on Google (thanks sol) it happened on Feb. 17th so it's old news now. The reason I think it deserves the mention on D&T is the dude won because on one level he controlled the situation and when it came to it he had the ability to put the threat down. I think that is a basic tool in the bag for confrontations. Identify the threat, recognize the level of force or action needed, don't put yourself in a position to simply react, drive the situation to your conclusion. Every deal is different but these elements are in every successful encounter.
That dude was big and he was a predator, he had snuffy figured out from the start. Being from Chicago... how many white boys deal drugs and prostitutes there without mob connections? How many of his old friends recognized him? lol.

I think there were several angles to look at from a confrontational point.

One in the area of escalation. If one or both had just STHU, it shouldn't have went that far.

Another is underestimation of opponent. The younger underestimated his adversary because his target was older, seemingly not taking size and potential ferocity into consideration.

That old man was looking for a fight and knew that kid would see "age" not not size.

The old dude (con) knew the rules, that's why he said he moved because he was "afraid" after seeing the fellows knife. Bingo, brandishing and Bingo he was appearing to avoid. In the interview he called the fellow out for being a murderer violating his parole... this placed him clearly as a victim. If you look at the running confrontation he controlled all of it but I do not think he was looking for a fight, he just wanted the satisfaction of the fellow sitting down, he knew he was dealing with a fear biter. It didn't help that the girls egged him on with questionable comments but he was 50 years old (said so, and black don't crack) and he ended up back in the slammer because he was stupid, he got offended and couldn't let go. The duffer at the end of the fight clearly called himself the victim and his opponent the aggressor. He was not stupid, he just played it right and he knew how to box. Dang, Hat's off. Also, look at the interaction considering OODA. The duffer did good.

Yeah...the Old Guy is a Street Savvy fighter and knows the rules and score.

De-escalate and avoidance just aren't in his bag of tricks.

I was born in my grandmother's house on Chicago's South Side, often spent time there with cousins as I was growing up and a non-aggressive response usually wasn't the best way to avoid reoccurring conflict.

Someone had a canary bird arse and a alligator mouth, and he got a bowl of shut the f@@@ up soup.

That old man knew that guy was a cocky little rooster that was trying to intimidate him into submission. Did not work for him though.

Speaking of age,I'm 66,retired vietnam vet.I'm too old to fight and too old to run so if I have too,I'll jst shoot the son-of-a-gun and be done with it.I'll never start trouble but I darn sure won't run from it.

And an old guy doesn't care and will just walk away from you and go on about life like nothing happened.  Meaning...it wasn't some kind of status thing to him just a job that finished and forgotten.
