So i've had this creadit at a hardwood flooring wholesaler for along time and since I'm not working I figured what the hell, lets put hardwood in the front room.
So I picked up some 3 1/4" select red oak. Now hard woods you have to acclamated them to the room you are going to install them in. So I had them siting in the front room. Well my wife gets home, and for some reason comes in the front door instead of the garage door. You guessed it, she triped right over the, as she did not turn on the lights. ;D Of corse she is pissed, after about 30 seconds into her rant, I ask her: "so how do you like your new hard wood floors" Then came the tears, and the hugs...
Then the &%*($)(@&%*^&%(%&%(&@#*%$(#_!@_)* cell phone range and she had to go back to work :'(

Welcome to dating/marrying a doc. I did it for a year and don't regret a second of it. But it sure taks a lot of patience to understand that you come second place to the job. The same is true of the partners of LEOS, para-medics, fire fighters, and the military. Its just part of the deal. The pager goes off and you are side tracked. If the girl is worth it, you wait up for her and give her a back rub when she gets home. My relationship with a doc floundered over the religion/kids issue, but I did get the the fact that she was a trauma surgeon and when the beeper went off, someone needed her a lot more than I did. :-\

+1 10 years as a Firefighter/ambulance personal and Dispatcher It sucks to always have your phone on and answer when someone calls.

Yup, EMS/Fire/LE can suck. I lucked out though and met my wife while still Active Duty Navy. We both understand the moments notice deployments and on call life. We've been together for 10 years and married for almost 9 but she still doesn't completely understand the "Don't ask me what I did today. I can't tell you." Plenty of short trips with a "hot or cold bag." Could watch CNN/Fox and quickly figure out which bag to grab just as the phone rang.
